Chapter 25 - Attacked

I

On the third day at the Kingdom of Gold Valley, the King and Queen had a serious talk with Dareon and their daughter Princess Shelyca.

“Dareon, we fully entrust to you our daughter, so we really wanted to know you better. I can sense, there is something in you that is not ordinary for a normal human. I just can’t determine what. One thing, I am sure however is that you are not one of us; I can feel that you are not a werewolf.” King Andreios seriously stated while looking at the man standing in front of them, besides his daughter. They are at this moment inside the Palace Throne’s Hall. He and his Queen wife are sitting on their thrones, while Princess Shelyca and Dareon are standing in front of them.

Dareon suddenly looked at Princess Shelyca, who gave her a nod, letting him decide to either say the truth about him or not.

Remembering what the Dragon Lord has told him prior to his marriage, Dareon decided to tell the truth. He made some steps away from Shelyca and when he thought that the distance is safe enough, he shifted into his dragon form to the total amazement of the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Gold Valley.

With her hands covering her mouth, the Queen looked at her daughter totally stunned while a smile slowly formed on King Andreios’ lips.

“So, you are a mighty Dragon Dareon that was why I sensed that powerful energy in you at the onset that I saw you.” King Andreios surmised. Inside his head, he is rejoicing for he knew that her daughter indeed married an extraordinary man. He will not be afraid, not even with the Duke of Sussex.

In a second, Dareon shifted again into his human form and vowed his head to his parents-in-law.

Princess Shelyca looked at her husband with tenderness. His honesty touched her heart more. She felt this pride then, for being his wife.

“Thank you for the honesty Dareon; for letting us know the truth in this early stage of your marriage. We may be of different species, but we are of the same mission and that is to protect my daughter from that person who wanted to kill her and from the Duke of Sussex.

Princess Shelyca already narrated to her parents what truly happened prior to the crashing of their Royal jet deep into the ocean.

“Yes, King Andreios, that is true. It is imperative for us to determine as soon as possible the real culprit otherwise; Princess Shelyca’s life is at risk. Meantime, I and Princess Shelyca will stay at the Thregonad Village, as I can sense that the mastermind is just staying inside your palace.” Dareon pronounced his instinct legibly.

Both the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Gold Valley agreed to what Dareon has said.

In the afternoon, Dareon and Shelyca bade goodbye to the spouses, King and Queen.

“By the way, when do you plan to return here? We will also make it as the date of your second wedding, this time here in our Palace.” The Queen asked smiling.

“We will return after two weeks, Queen Mother.” It was Shelyca who answered and Dareon nodded, agreeing to the date given by his wife.

In his Dragon form, Dareon with Princess Shelyca on his back flew back to the Thregonad Village. He was in a hurry to return home as he senses that something wrong is going to happen to their Thregonad people.

They are still kilometers away from the Thregonad Village but Dareon could already hear cries and screams. Dareon spoke to Shelyca through her mind and instructed her to hold on to him tighter. He flipped his wings hard and speedily flew, wanting to reach Thregonad Village at once.

Shelyca could sense that something seems not right. Her wolf ears have been filled with screams and cries as they are nearing their Thregonad Village. “Dareon, can you hear those screams and cries?” she asked penetrating Dareon’s mind.

“Yes wife, we should be ready, I am certain that our Thregonad people were being attacked by enemies.”

As they were at the above premises of the Thregonad Village already; Dareon through his keen dragon eyes scanned the whole village checking on what kind of enemies have attacked his people. “Wolves, the Thregonad Village have been attacked by wolves,” Dareon exclaimed through his mind and he passed it through Shelyca’s mind.

Shelyca was so stunned. Wolves attacked the village? She is a wolf and she is willing to kill her own species if it is necessary.

Dreckos still in his Dragon form fly down and spitted his fire as he noticed a group of wolves chasing a dozen of Thregonad women and children.

The Thregonad people cried with gratitude when they finally saw their ruler; their dragon master, came back to save them.
“In her mind, Princess Shelyca asked Dareon to put her down but Dareon told her to just stay at his back.

“No Dareon, I need to help them too. I cannot just stay here watching them being killed by wolves, beside I will be a burden to you, you cannot move so freely. Just put me down, I can take care of myself hubby, don’t worry.” Princess Shelyca pleaded to him and although with hesitation, Dareon finally landed and put her down on the ground.

Immediately, Shelyca shifted into his wolf form and some of the Thregonad people saw it. Shelyca who is now under the form and strength of Sheenei growled so loud to get the attention of the wolves around. Her size is almost double the size of the wolves that she saw chasing some Thregonad people.

The wolves that attacked the Thregonad heard the loud growls of Sheenei and all of them stopped chasing and killing their target victims. They all run going to Sheenei who stands tall ready to fight. Above Sheenei, Dareon in his Dragon form is waiting for the most opportune time to attack.

Sheenei did not wait for the wolves to attack her. Through her mind, he told Dareon that she will attack before it’s too late.

When the Thregonad people saw the big white wolf attacked the group of smaller groups of wolves, they kneeled in prayers and the Thregonad warriors attacked too, to help the big white wolf.

Seeing Shelyca in her wolf form fighting against the wolves, Dareon knew that in his Dragon form, it will be hard for him to spit fire as he might burn Shelyca too. Immediately, Dareon shifted into his human form and motioned to one of his warriors to give him a sword.
Glendo, who is nearby threw to their Chieftain his sword. He is more comfortable in using his big dagger than a sword.

As Dareon caught the sword, he slashed swiftly the neck of the wolf who tried to attack him and help Shelyca and his warriors to kill the other wolves.

Seeing that they are on the verge of defeat, the four remaining alive wolves ran fast to the forest, retreating.

But Dareon will not allow any of them to escape alive. He shifted into his Dragon form again and chased the running four wolves. As he came near enough to them, Dareon emitted his fire into them, burning them. The four wolves hurled in pain as they rolled into the ground trying to kill the fire in their bodies. But Dareon spewed out his fire once more, totally burning to death the four escaping wolves.

From a distance, a brown rogue wolf hides from the bushes. He cannot afford to risk his life and be burnt alive by that mighty dragon.
