Chapter 39 - Centaurs at the Thregonad Village

I

The next day, since their wedding at the Kingdom of Gold Valley, was not pushed through, Princess Shelyca and Dareon decided to return to their Thregonad Village. By eight o’clock in the evening, checking that the weather was just fine, Dareon flew into the sky in his mighty reddish dragon form with Princess Shelyca riding on his back.

Princess Shelyca was clad in her overall, body fit, wool textile winter clothes, which were just light to carry but will definitely protect her from coldness. Her head and face except her eyes and nose was fully covered by her knit, Booble cap. Dareon’s dragon back is wide and thick and she can even lay therein to snuggle while they traverse a few mountains and oceans before reaching the Thregonad Village.

The King and Queen of the Kingdom of Gold Valley, watched as Dareon in his Dragon form, carrying Princess Shelyca on his back flew from their rooftop until such moment that they were not anymore visible to their eyes.

After a long hour of travel, Dareon landed so swiftly yet gently into the Thregonad’s training field. No noise except for the soft flipping of Dareon’s wings.

The Thregonad people except some guards were never even aware that their Master Dragon and Chieftain together with his wife have returned already. They were all in their deep slumbers now.

As Dareon shifted into his human form, Shelyca stood aside watching him with much amazement still.

Glendo ran towards Dareon and Shelyca when he saw them landed down.

“Master and Princess, welcome back.” Glendo’s greetings to the newly arrived couple as he bowed his head with respect. Some guards also ran to their master and vowed down; happiness can be seen evidently on their faces.

“Glendo, we will talk tomorrow. Meantime, we will take a rest as both of us are tired and sleepy.” Dareon said as he motioned to his men to return to their posts.

Glendo nodded. The next batch of guards will replace them by two o clock in the morning, so they have still almost two hours to be on duty.
Dareon wrapped his right arm around his wife’s shoulders as they walked calmly going to their big hovel.

“Tonight should have been our second honeymoon if our wedding based on your Lycan tradition has been push through,” Dareon whispered as he kissed the topmost part of Princess Shelyca’s head. They were already in front of their home.

Princess Shelyca giggled, “Hmm, we should have spent some days first in your cute Castle. I am missing that white sand island already,” she murmured, suddenly remembering the invisible to the eye, small Kingdom of Dareon at the middle of the sea, which he called as “Tinee Island”.

Dareon smiled upon hearing her words. “You should have told me that you wanted to spend a vacation at Tinee Island wife. Let me guess; did you vividly remember our romantic moments in there hmmm?”

Princess Shelyca looked at him and sheepishly nodded.

“Don’t worry wife, we can go there two days from now. How does it sound to you?” he winked at her.

Princess Shelyca smiled again blushing. She could not help to still blush and to be shy whenever her husband would tease her about their intimate moments.

The next day, the Thregonad Village had unexpected visitors; predators actually. A group of around twenty well-armed Centauros entered their village trying to steal their food and worst grabbing few women that they saw.

Dareon and Shelyca have been awakened by the ringing of the warning bell in their belfry. He immediately stood up.

“It means enemies invaded our Village. Wife do not come out of our hovel, you are safe here.” Dareon said as he got his sword and ran outside of their house.

Princess Shelyca being a warrior herself could not just stay inside their hovel without doing something to help her husband’s people. She peeped in the window to check, who are their invaders and she was shocked. Those are the same type of creatures that she first encountered in the forest, few days that she arrived in this place. They are Centaurs! And as far as she knew, except for their genitals part, the best weak points to target for Centaurs are their legs and heads.

She looked around looking for a weapon that she can use and then she saw Dareon’s bow and arrow hanging on the corner wall. Unknown to Dareon, his wife is a skilled archer that no one can beat even their male warriors at the Kingdom of Gold Valley.

Princess Shelyca then grabbed the bow and arrow and counted the arrow inside its quiver. She got twenty-five arrows. “Perfect!” she muttered. She climbed their hovel’s attic and from the attic’s small window, she could easily see all of the running half-horse, half-human creatures. She could also see that their soldiers avoided coming near the centaurs first, a good tactic that she guessed Dareon taught them, which is also more favorable to her. She could easily shoot each of the centaurs. She then saw Dareon with his swords standing bravely, waiting for any centaur to attack him.

After determining who among those invaders are their leader; Shelyca readied her bow and arrow and after a second, its arrow speedily flew into the air with its hissing, smooth sound, hitting the head of the biggest Centaur, who was slashing his swords into the air in a circling motion readying himself to attack Dareon.

The Centaur’s leader screamed in pain and thereafter fell down to the ground.

Everyone was surprised never knowing where the arrow came from. The Centaurs screamed so agitatedly for seeing their leader killed just like that.

Another arrow came flying, hitting again another head of one of the centaurs then another one and another one; until five Centaurs has been all dead lying on the ground.

With that, the remaining Centaurs drastically retreated and ran so fast towards the forest.

While the Thregonad warriors including their Chieftain were looking at each other, amazed and curious as to who was their hero, who saves them from those evil Centaurs.
