CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT

Mabel had never felt so humiliated in her whole life. It gave her more reason to want to do something to Lia.
She followed closely behind Leo and Lia and waited until they were away from the eyes of people. She couldn't take any more risks and embarrass herself in front of everyone.
Mabel jumped in front of them and they both stopped walking.
Mabel was finally able to see Leo's face properly. She was amazed, He was nothing like she had ever seen before.
She wondered how someone with that kind of face could exist. She wanted to destroy their relationship and then have him for herself.
"Speak," Leo said.
It snapped her of her Lala land.
"Brother-in-law, it's nice to finally meet you," Mabel said trying to sound seductive.
Leo said nothing.
"I'm Lia's sister" Mabel tried to introduce herself.
"My wife doesn't have a sister" Mabel flinched from the tone he used on her.
"Y...yes, but we were raised by the same father"
"Move," Leo said but Mabel refused. She wasn't going to give up so easily.
"Did you know that my sister had been intimate with another man?"
Mabel asked innocently. Leo became tensed and his grip on Lia's waist tightened.
Mabel noticed this and instantly had hope.
" I didn't believe my sister would have told you and I don't think that, it would be fair to you, if i just let her decieve you"
Lia knew very well what Mabel was talking about. Why was Mabel doing this and why does she always have to ruin everything? Those were the questions she asked herself.
" Aren't I right, sister? Remember that night at kings club? One of your colleagues, I think her name was Karen. She saw you leave with a man"
At the mention of kings club, Leo relaxed. He also remembered that night, when he was reunited with Lia. His grip on her loosened.
Lia mistook his loose grip as a sign that he was angry with her and didn't want to touch her. She bowed her head down in shame.
Mabel continued, " Do you even know the man you slept with, Lia?"
Lia didn't answer.
"You see, she doesn't even know who the man was. I hope you can forgive her and continue your relationship with her"
"Move" Leo had said for the second time.
"I know it's a lot to handle, it might be shocking to you because she seems so innocent. But don't feel so bad, I believe she can change from her shameless lifesty..."
Mabel was suddenly against the wall, with Leo's hands wrapped around her neck.
" When I give an order, fucking comply. I hate repeating myself" Leo said dangerously low.
Tears were at the brim of falling from Mabel's eye.
Lia touched Leo's arm, and as if he had just remembered she was there he let Mabel go. She didn't need anyone to tell her before she scurried away.
Mr. Griffon had watched everything that had happened so far, but he didn't bother to step in. If Mabel had angered Mr. King, then that was her problem.
"Mr. King, I'm so glad that you could make it" Leo just nodded.
It would be good if Mr. King's presence was known amongst everyone. It would boost the pride of his company.
At first, when he was informed that Mr. King had accepted his invitation he was surprised. He didn't believe that Mr. King would come but still, he decided to wait before they finally introduce his son.
Mr. Griffon looked over to the female standing beside Leo. Yet again another surprise.
"Miss Aderson?"
"Hello sir"
"It's Mrs. King now," Leo said.
Mr. Griffon smiled at Lia.
"I see you have moved on, I'm deeply sorry for my son's foolish behavior"
Mr. Griffon apologized from the depth of his heart.
When he found out that Jack had cheated on Lia, he was angry. That foolish act that Jack pulled off, finally convinced Mr. Griffon that he had raised a failure.
"That's enough," Leo said.
"The announcement is about to be made"
"I will be there"
Leo said and took Lia into a room.
Lia couldn't bring herself to look at Leo. She was ashamed of herself and she felt as if she had betrayed him.
Leo sat down on a chair and motioned for Lia to come closer, which she did. She tried as much as possible not to make eye contact with Leo.
This did not go unnoticed by Leo, he didn't like it one bit.
Leo took her arm and pulled her to his lap. He gently caressed her hair.
"You look beautiful, tonight" Leo nuzzled his nose in the crook of her neck.
"I've missed you so much" Leo mumbled between breaths.
Lia wondered if Leo wasn't angry about what Mabel had told him, and as if he knew what she was thinking about,
"The man that night, do you really not know who he is?"
Lia shook her head.
"It was me" Immediately he said that Lia's head turned so fast, he was scared that her neck would snap.
She was now facing him and looking him in the eye.
"What did you say?" She asked to be sure if she heard correctly.
"You were with me that night" Leo said again.
Lia wasn't expecting this at all.
" You were the one who took my virginity?"
Leo was happy to hear that she was still a virgin.
"Did you marry me, only because you felt guilty?" Lia didn't know why she felt sad about that thought.
"Nothing happened that night"
"I had love marks all over my body"
"I stopped myself from doing anything you will regret"
"That means I'm still a virgin" Lia felt happy to hear this.
"Not for long" He said and Lia's face turned red.
Leo couldn't help himself any longer and claimed her lips. It took Lia by surprise, so he had full access to her mouth.
He moved from her mouth to her jaw and then to her neck. He found a good spot to leave a mark and sucked on it. Lia unconsciously let out a moan.
After a minute or two, he stopped feeling satisfied with the mark he had given her. He kissed the same spot and Lia shivered.
Leo got up and opened another door in the same room. It let to a balcony. The balcony was inside the banquet hall, So she could see everyone and everything that was happening.
"I'm going back there, you can stay here until I come back to get you," Leo said.
He kissed her one more time before he left.
Mr. Griffon made sure to wait until Leo came back before anything started.
Some of the board members present gave boring speeches about the success of the company from the very day it began.
Then Mr. Griffon came up and talked about his son's achievements over the past few years.
Lia found almost everything he said to be strange. It was as if he was talking about a whole different person entirely.
"Everyone, let's put our hands together for..."
And finally the moment everybody had been waiting for.
"Josiah Griffon"
Everyone was shocked when they saw another person other than Jack making his way into the spotlight.
Lia's eye's unconsciously scanned the room and as if they had found what they were looking for, it landed on Mr. Black who was standing in a corner.
He looked like he was stopping himself from bursting out in laughter.
But why wouldn't he, the look on Jack's face right now was priceless.
