CHAPTER FIFTY ONE

"You promised to help me find my brother, where is he?" Liana whined.
Jack had taken her to his home, which he had already prepared for her arrival.
"You don't have a brother, so who are you talking about?" Jack asked her.
"Take me back, I don't want to be here"
"No, we have already come so far. We can finally be together again" Jack happily said.
"No, I don't like you," Liana said and Jack frowned.
"You don't have to pretend anymore, I have already realized my mistake and I love you, So stop playing hard to get. It won't help our relationship grow" Jack said.
" Disgusting," Liana said and turned her face away.
" I'm sorry, okay. How many times do I have to apologize to you? Honestly, the only reason I got with Mabel was that you wouldn't let me have my way with you and because Mabel has a slight resemblance to you, I used her to satisfy myself. That was all I promise you, I still love you"
Liana tilted her head to the side and asked,
" who is Mabel?"
Jack turned away with frustration, Lia wasn't giving in to his confessions. She was only playing dumb.
Liana noticed someone on the floor. The person wasn't moving and had blood on some parts of her body.
"What is that?" Liana asked while pointing to the corner.
"That is Karen"
"Who?"
"Karen, your former colleague"
"What is colleague?"
"Nevermind. She is Mabel's friend. She refused to tell me where Mabel was and kept saying she didn't know, so she ended up that way. I guess she would rather die than rat Mabel out"
Jack had searched for Mabel but to no avail. It was as if she had disappeared into thin air.
" Take me away from here, I don't like seeing blood," Liana said as she dug her nails into her palm. Blood was something that could easily trigger her anxiety attacks if she saw too much of it.
" I never knew that, but don't worry I would make sure to clean everything up just for you," Jack said.
Leo, Lia, and Ben had just come back from the funeral. Cynthia rushed to meet them at the door but frowned when she didn't see Liana with them.
" Hello" Lia greeted her but she completely ignored her and faced Leo.
"Where is Liana?" Cynthia asked.
"What do you mean?"
" Why isn't she with you guys?" Cynthia asked.
"We left her here with you"
"What? I haven't seen her at all today" Cynthia said.
"Then perhaps she is somwhere playing. Now let us be" Leo said sternly.
"I have already searched and I couldn't find her," Cynthia said.
"Then maybe the girl has grown tired of this place," Ben said.
Cynthia glared at Ben for speaking.
" She better not have, that girl thinks like a child. It will be too dangerous for her out there" Cynthia said.
" That girl is big enough to take care of herself. She would become useless if you keep on pampering her" Ben scolded Cynthia.
" Please," Cynthia said to Leo.
Leo gave it a thought before taking out his phone to make a phone call.
This was supposed to be Mr. Black's job, but he hadn't yet returned.
The person Leo had called picked up the phone almost immediately.
" Have you found him? " Leo asked referring to Mr. Black.
Leo was suspicious of Mr. Black because of his sudden departure. He didn't know if Mr. Black took with him, a copy of important files from the company or not. But if not Why else would Mr. Black cover up his tracks?
"No sir," The person said.
"Organize a search party, I will send you the details. I wa..."
While Leo conversed with the person Lia saw her father out and said her goodbyes before coming back.
Leo was already done by the time she arrived.
Maybe it would be best if Liana would just disappear and then maybe things would go back to how it was with Leo and Lia.
Lia who was completely unfazed by the whole matter was about to leave. She felt exhausted and all she wanted to do was have some rest.
Cynthia stopped her. " Where do you think you are going?" She asked.
"To my room, I need to have some rest, " Lia said.
"You are not going anywhere until Liana has been found"
"I'm sorry ma'am, but I won't do that," Lia said, not really in the mood to argue.
"How insolent. You did something to her didn't you?" Cynthia accused Lia.
"Excuse me"
" Yes, that's probably why it doesn't concern you. I'm sure you were so blinded by jealousy and you said something to her to make her leave"
" I did no such thing," Lia said.
" Oh please, don't give me that. You never once treated her nicely since she ar..."
" Enough" Leo yelled at Cynthia through gritted teeth.
" You won't yell at my wife, not In our home or anywhere else"
" W...why are you siding with her, she isn't even our Lia. She is just a fraud nothing else"
" So what if I am not Lia, does that make me any less human? I have feelings." Lia said.
" it doesn't, but as a person who has learned her place, don't you think you should step down. The poor girl is suffering because of y..."
" Do you want to die?" Leo had a deadly glint in his eye.
" How can you ask me that I am your mo..."
" Don't be silly. You are not my mother and you will never be."
" Then what about Liana? Are you just going to abandon her"
" Lia is my wife regardless of anything, I won't let anyone come between us"
" You are making a mistake," Cynthia said.
" You will leave from here and never appear in front of me again if you say another word about this" Leo Said.
Cynthia glared at Lia before stumping her foot and walking off. She couldn't believe it, Lia had completely bewitched Leo and turned him against her. Cynthia's hatred for Lia had just increased to a whole other level.
"Thank you for standing up for me," Lia said to Leo.
"I want you to know that, regardless of you being the Lia from my past or not. I love you so please stop pushing me away"
