EXTRA 2

After a lot of thinking last night, Ellie laughed at her silly thought. She was probably just hallucinating, there was no way that person could have been Mr. Black.
But what if it was him, then what? She asked herself several times. Ellie tried to move on after Mr. Black's sudden disappearance. It was as if he was never there, she would ask Lia about him and Lia would always change the subject.
So Ellie had no other choice but to wait, and that's what she did she waited but he never came back. Years passed by and there was still no sign of him, so she stopped waiting. She gave up.
She realized that it wasn't right for her to drown herself in sorrow for someone she didn't even know about his whereabouts. He could be happily married with two children or dead. He and Ellie never had anything, to begin with anyway, it was all just her wishful thinking.
"Hello, babe," Mike said snapping Ellie out of her trance.
"Good morning," Ellie said taking a sip out of her coffee.
"You didn't put on the necklace I bought you"
"Oh, I forgot about that. There has been a lot on my mind lately"
"I can tell, it looks like you didn't sleep a wink last night"
"I didn't"
***"Oh my God, did you guys hear what happened yesterday"***
***"Tell me"****
***"Do You know Gladice?"***
***" The janitor Gladice"***
***"Yes, that one. I heard that she got assaulted yesterday"***
***" What? Really? That's horrible."***
***" I know right, and do you know what the worse part is?***
***"What?"***
***"It was here in this very building"***
***"No way, who would do such a thing?"***
***"Some people are just heartless, if I were her I would not come back to this place"***
***"Me too, but she might never be able to find another job with such high pay as this one"****
***"You are right, that person needs to be caught and thought a lesson"***
***"I agree with you. If he wasn't punished the first time then he might do it again"***

"Sorry to cut into your conversation but working hours start now," Ellie said to two women who were standing in the corner.
"Yes of course," one of them said and they both left.
"Did you hear what they said?" Mike asked her.
"I did"
"You have to be careful El, I don't want anything bad to happen to you," Mike said sincerely.
"Nothing will happen, you don't have to worry about me"
"Ok, but if you run into any sort of trouble be sure to contact me and I will come to you"
"Sure. You better go before your department head marks you absent"
"You are right, see you later. Try not to miss me too much"
"Ok, I won't try," Ellie said jokingly and they both laughed.
...
"You called for me, Mam"
"Ah yes, the files. Have you arranged them accordingly?"
"Yes, I will go and get it"
" Nah, I'm not going to use it anytime soon"
" Ok, may I be excused"
" Sure, but what's all those ruckuses out there"
"Everyone is talking about the incident of last night"
" What incident?"
" The one about Gladice"
" It seems everyone has run out of work to do"
" I will pass the message," The man said and sighed. He knew perfectly well what his boss wanted him to do.
" Everyone get back to work, the boss doesn't..." Ellie heard before her office door was closed.
She leaned back into her chair and spun around on the chair's wheel. Once again she was alone and 'pop' A thought came to her mind.
What if the person she saw yesterday was the pervert? Ellie shuddered thinking about what could have happened to her if she stayed behind.
...
"I'm going out and I may or may not come back"
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to run some errands"
"But that isn't your job, as your assistant let me handle it"
" Don't worry about it, you just do whatever is left for you and go home"
" Yes mam"
With that being said Ellie took off on her heels. Without making any stops she went straight to her car but as she walked the same feeling of being watched came back.
...
"Hello, El" Mike said from the phone.
"Hmmn"
"Your assistant told me that you left earlier than you usually do, is everything ok?"
"Yes, everything is fine. I just wanted to run some errands that's all"
"If you say so, but please do be careful. It's dangerous"
"Don't worry I'm not easy going, if anyone tries to do anything I would give them a hard kick to the balls"
"Ok, I trust you on that one"
"Thank you for checking up on me"
"No problem. Have a Good night's sleep, I love you"
" Goodbye," Ellie said before cutting the call.
" I'm so exhausted," she said as she stretched her body and yawned.

A few hours later,

***Crash***
Ellie jolted up from her bed from the sound of something breaking. She ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. She turned on the lights and saw her pots knocked down on the ground. Her storeroom was open, which was odd because she always closed it when she was done taking what she needed.
"Who is there?" Ellie asked cautiously.
She slowly took a few steps towards the room.
"Come out," She said as she grabbed a knife.
"I'm warning you, I have a knife and I will use it"
Just as she said that a fat furry creature came out.
"Meow" the cat purred.
Ellie let out a sigh of relief.
"Sandy, you gave me a scare"
"Meow" the cat used one of its paws to push its bowl into her line of sight.
"I forgot to feed you didn't I?"
"Meow"
Ellie reached for a can and a can opener in a cabinet. She opened the can and poured out its content into the cat's bowl.
"There you go," She said as she dropped the bowl and the cat immediately began to eat as if it hadn't eaten for days.
"Hmm, looks like you were really hungry"
She watched her cat eat and soon after the cat stopped and its ear twitched.
"What's wrong now?" Ellie asked the cat as if it was able to give her a reply.
The cat stepped back and took a stance as if it was trying to scare off an enemy.
"Ellie looked ahead but saw nothing" She wondered what was up. Her cat never acted that way unless it was met with people it didn't like.
Ellie began to hear strange sounds coming from her living room. She entered and saw the knob on her door was shaking. It was as if someone was trying to get in from outside.
Ellie quickly ran to get her thick bat. She hid beside the door such that when the person opens it he wouldn't see her.
A few seconds after the door was opened and closed. Ellie raised her bat and swung it against the person's head.
"Ouch," the person groaned.
"Mike?"
"El, I didn't think you would be awake by this time" Mike said while holding the back of his head where her bat hit him.
"What are you doing here?"
"I needed a place to stay tonight, I'm really sorry for barging in like this"
"You could have just given me a call"
"Yeah, but my battery is dead"
"Lock the door," Ellie said.
" Yeah, about that. It's broken"
" I will kill you," Ellie said in a threatening manner.
" I'm sorry. I will pay for it as soon as our next pay. I promise you"
" You better. Now tell me, what happened to your house and what happened to your face?" Ellie interrogated.
" Oh uh. I tripped on a rock and as for my house, I got locked out" Ellie knew that he was lying about how he got those injuries. There was no way falling can do that much damage. But because she didn't want to pry she decided to leave it at that, if he didn't want her to know then so be it.
" How?"
" I left my keys in the office"
" Let's go get it then," Ellie said.
" What? Right now?"
" Yes"
" No. It's too late and it's dangerous outside"
" No, it's not. You can't stay here"
" Why not?"
" Because I don't want you to"
" Please, it's just for tonight. I will be gone before you wake up tomorrow morning."
" Fine. You can use the guest room over there"
" I was hoping we could sleep toge..." Ellie flashed him a harsh glare causing him to shut his mouth.
" Thank you for your kindness"
"Good night Mike"
"Uhm wait. There Is actually something I wanted to ask you" Mike said and gulped.
" What is it?"
" Could you lend me some money, I will pay back" He shyly asked.
" I can. How much do you need?" Ellie said and his face brightened.
" Really? Thank you so much"
"Well?"
"..."
"How much do you need?"
" I need ***** "
"That much," Ellie said shocked.
"Yes, it's for my mother's treatment"
"Ok, I understand. I will give you the money and you don't have to pay me back"
"No, I can't do that. It's too much money for you to give away just like that"
"It's my treat"
"But..."
"Shh, I'm sleepy"
"sigh" " see you tomorrow"
...
Ellie woke up the next morning and saw that Mike was nowhere to be found.
" Hmm, I guess he keeps his word," She said.
She entered the kitchen to prepare herself something to eat, but it looked like breakfast was already done and served.
There was a note beside her plate. She picked it up and read its content.
***Looking forward to seeing you today.***
Ellie rolled her eyes.
She took out her spoon and dug in. The food was spat out as soon as it touched her tongue.
I guess Mike was a horrible cook.
...
Ellie entered her department. It was so loud and almost everyone was gathered in one spot.
"What's going on in here?" Ellie asked.
"These flowers aren't they beautiful?" One of her co-workers asked her.
Indeed they were beautiful. They were white roses, Ellie's favorite flowers.
"They are, but you people shouldn't be bringing in gifts from your lovers, this is a place of work" She spoke like a true leader.
"Actually, they're for you"
"What?" Ellie's cheek turned to a light shade of pink.
Stupid Mike! I will kill you, Ellie said in her mind.
Ellie walked through the crowd and grabbed the flowers.
"Get back to work, all of you," She said with her teeth gritted.
She slammed her office door hard and observed the flowers in her hand. It had a little note sticking out of it.
