CHAPTER FORTY EIGHT
The driver held the door wide open for Lia to get in. Halfway there, she heard her name.
Lia turned to the source and saw a woman struggling to be let free from the grasp of the guards while screaming her name from a far enough distance.
"Leave her," Lia said loud enough for the guards to hear. They let the woman go, causing her to stumble on her feet.
The woman quickly rushed towards Lia and grabbed her hand.
"Liana you almost gave me a heart attack, why did you leave?" The woman asked Lia.
Lia gave her a confused look. She had never seen this woman before in her life, so why was she getting touchy with her.
"I'm sorry do I know you?" Lia asked the woman.
"Don't play games with me, Liana, we have to leave this instant. If your brother finds out that you left, I'm done for" The woman said.
Lia had just registered what was going on. This woman must have been looking for Liana and mistook it to be her.
" I'm sorry but, I'm not the person you are looking for," Lia said.
The woman didn't care what Lia had to say and began to drag her by her hand.
" Excuse me, I just said I'm not Liana," Lia said and snatched her hand back from the woman's tight grasp.
" Listen, I know that you want to find your brother. He is co..."
" Who is this?" Cynthia appeared beside Lia and eyed the strange woman.
Lia looked at Cynthia and saw her bag in Cynthia's hand. She must have forgotten it in the kitchen and Cynthia came to give it to her.
" I'm Liana's nanny, I'm sorry if she had bothered you " The nanny apologized.
This person must have been in charge of Liana, Cynthia thought.
" There is no Liana here, you must have been mistaken"
Cynthia didn't want this woman to take Liana away. Not when she had just returned.
Yesterday Cynthia had seen the birthmark on Liana's thigh through her skirt when she fell and knocked over the vase. Liana's thigh was scarred with the remains of deep cuts, but the mark was still visible. At that moment Cynthia couldn't believe what she was seeing and was horrified.
She couldn't sleep that night. She snuck into the room where Liana had slept to make sure she saw correctly. And for the second time, she saw it.
Destiny must have brought back their Little Lia. And now that Liana was back, she decided that it would be best to drive away the imposter and reunite her son with Liana.
If only she knew that both girls carried that mark.
"She is clearly standing in front of me," The nanny said.
"This woman right here is my son's wife, not whoever you think she is. Now if you don't want to get arrested for trespassing on private property, I suggest you leave this place and never come back" Cynthia said.
"That's impossible, She is Liana and I am going to take her back with me"
"Guards, show her the way out," Cynthia said and retreated after pushing Lia's bag into her arms.
" No, please Liana come with me. Your brother will kill me if you don't. Please Liana c..." The nanny begged as the guards dragged her further and further away.
Lia entered the car and looked at the now weeping woman before the car zoomed off.
Meanwhile,
Someone had been watching everything that was happening from outside the gate.
He waited for the nanny to walk a good distance from the gate before he approached her with his car.
" Can I help you?" The woman asked while drying her tears with a napkin.
She looked at the man and gasped. There was a striking resemblance between him and Liana.
" Hop in, I will drive you back to your place," The man said.
" No, I can get there on my own," The nanny said.
" I saw how those men treated you just now, you must be hurt"
The nanny thought about it for some time and decided to get in anyway. The man drove at a steady speed. He wanted to increase the amount of time he had with the lady.
As an unmarried woman who was fast approaching her fifties, she thought of the man as handsome. She continuously gawked at him through the front view mirror.
"So, how did you know where to find Liana?" The man asked reminding her of her misery.
"Oh Uhm, her brother gave me that address, just in case something happened"
The nanny didn't know why, but she felt a sense of trust toward the man. Maybe it was because he looked like Liana or because of his calm demeanor or even because she needed all the help she could get right now.
"And where is her brother now?" The man asked.
"He went away for a while, but he will come home tonight," The nanny said as she played with her fingers.
Thinking of what would happen to her later when Mr. Black comes back, made her heart beat faster.
"You seem scared," The man said.
"It's just that if I don't bring Miss Liana home before he returns, I will be in big trouble," The nanny said.
"Don't worry, I will protect you from him" The man smirked at her.
She turned the other way to hide her pink face from him.
After some time the nanny turned back to look at him again.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Ask me anything?"
"I'm really curious, are you related to Liana?"
"You know why they say curiosity killed the cat?"
The nanny nodded.
" The truth is dangerous and it will kill you, do you still want to know?"
The nanny nodded again.
" Fine, I will tell you. I am related to her, I'm her uncle. Nice to meet you"
" I just knew you two had to be related, you guys look so much alike," The nanny said.
" Is that so?"
The nanny smiled and nodded.
" Well then lead the way and maybe when we get to your place, we can talk more over a cup of tea. How does that sound?" The man said.
" I would love that"
...
Lia had just arrived at her workplace and was greeted by a gloomy-looking Ellie.
" Lia, you are back," Ellie said with tired eyes.
" You look awful, did anything happen while I was away?" Lia asked.
" Mmn" Ellie nodded.
" What did?" Lia asked.
" My sister along with the leader were both fired yesterday. They both plotted against you to lock you up in that room. I'm very sorry" Ellie apologized.
Lia sighed.
" You don't have to apologize for your sister's actions," Lia said.
" I guess you are right, but that's not even one of my problems," Ellie said.
" What is it?" Lia asked.
" It's Mr. Black. That night when you went missing, I was given the opportunity to explore his office and I enjoyed every second of it until..."
"..." Lia waited for Ellie to continue.
" I found some pictures of me near his house and a few other places I have followed him to. I think he knows that I stalk him" Ellie said almost crying.
Lia didn't know exactly what she was going to say to Ellie. She already knew about Mr. Black's awareness, but she couldn't just tell Ellie that he was okay with her at his tail or that she knew all along and had just been watching her make a fool out of herself all this while.
"What if he hates me?" Ellie choked out.
"I'm pretty sure if he hated you, he would have taken action against you by now," Lia said.
"But what if, he was just waiting till he gets back?"
"I seriously doubt that, I believe he would have at least told you off or given you some sort of warning"
"You think so?"
"I know so"
Ellie let out a breath of relief.
All-day Ellie complained and talked about all her problems while Lia kept calm as if her life was perfect and she didn't have any problems. She tried as much as she possibly could, to forget about the happenings at home and focus on work.
