Chapter Thirteen
Vidya:
In the evening, Adi, Karthi, Vikky and I reached home but Jay and Shwetha didn't return home yet. Jay's mobile is switched off and Shwetha didn't receive the calls.
"They used to come by 6 PM but it's already 8 PM. What happened to them? I don’t understand," Adi said.
"Adi, we will do one thing. Vikky and I will go searching for them," Karthi said.
"I will come with you," Adi said.
"No, Adi. Sister in law will be alone and will worry more. You be at home," Vikky said.
"Ok, please call us as soon as you find them," Adi said.
Karthi and Vikky are about to start but heard the horn sound of the Jay's car. We went out. Shwetha came with Jay. Jay has a bandage to his head. He is walking with the help of Shwetha. I went and helped Jay to walk to our room.
"What happened to you? What is this bandage?" I asked him with tears.
"It's a small accident. Please stop crying, Vidya. Nothing happened to me. I am fine," Jay said.
"How does the accident happened?" I said.
"Leave it," Jay said.
"Shwetha, we were so worried. Why didn’t you receive our calls?"
"I am sorry. I didn’t check the calls," Shwetha said.
"Where did you meet Jay?" I said.
"Actually Jay called me and I went to him," Shwetha said.
"If it's an accident, then why did Jay call only you and why didn't you inform any of us?"
"Vidya, stop your cross examination. Now don’t make this as an issue. Go and bring a coffee for me. Instead of seeing what I need and giving me a rest, you have started the discussion now," Jay said seriously.
I felt something wrong and decided not to argue with Jay now. I felt that they were hiding something from me. Are they lying to me? I think Jay asked coffee just to send me from there. What's the truth? I stood outside the room to listen their conversation.
"Now tell us the truth, Jay. What happened to you?" Karthi said.
"I sent information of Anand Singh’s illegal liquor business to the department before two days. He sent goons to the office to warn me," Jay said.
"In the fighting, a goon attacked Jay and his head got injured. But we are lucky that it's not a deep internal injury. The doctor told us that taking rest for a week is enough," Shwetha said.
"You married Vidya for your safety but still he attacked you," Vikky said.
"He knows well that Jay loves Vidya so much. Surely Jay won’t hurt Vidya. So he showed his real attitude," Shwetha said.
"However, he is capable of killing his son. So, killing his son-in-law is not an issue to him," Adi said.
"Ok stop it now. Vidya may come. She shouldn’t know all this. She will get upset," Jay said.
"However, even if we say all this to sister in law, she won’t trust us. So, no problem," Adi said.
I got shocked to know that my dad sent goons to attack Jay. How could he do this? Jay is my husband and dad knows well that I love Jay a lot. I should meet dad and confront him about this. I prepared the coffee and went to Jay. I gave it to him and sat beside him.
"Vidya, I am fine. Don’t be dull. I can’t see you like this. Just relax," Jay said, giving me a side hug.
"We will prepare the dinner. You take rest," Shwetha said to Jay.
"Shwetha, you might be tired. I will do it," I said.
"No, it's ok. Jay needs you now. So, stay with him," Jay said.
They all left leaving Jay and me alone. I helped him to get fresh and gave the tablets. I sat beside him and he laid on the bed. I lost in my thoughts and Jay pulled me towards him. I fell on him, coming out of my thoughts. I looked at Jay and he smiled at me.
"What happened to you, sweet heart? where were you lost?"
"Nothing. Please leave me," I said.
I got away from Jay.
"What happened to you? It's just a small accident. Why are you so dull and serious?" Jay said.
"Is it really an accident, Jay? Why are you lying to me?" I yelled at Jay.
"Lying? I didn’t get you," Jay said.
"Is it attack or accident?"
"Vidya, Did you hear our conversation? Eavesdropping is something I hate the most," Jay said, annoyed with me.
"Don’t divert the topic. Tell me is it true that dad sent goons to attack you?" I said.
"Vidya, leave it. Because even if I say yes, you won’t trust my words. So, I don’t want to argue with you and we both no need to get hurt," Jay said.
Jay closed his eyes pretending to be asleep to avoid further discussion with me regarding my dad. I slept on his chest hugging him. Jay opened his eyes and caressed my hairs. He saw me crying.
"Vidya, please don’t cry. It hurts me. Everything will be alright."
"I love you so much, Jay."
"I wish one day you would trust me to the extent where no one and nothing can break your trust in me," Jay said, chuckling at me.
"Why do you think that I don't trust you?" I said.
"You love me but of no trust. Still you are confused that whether to trust me or your dad. But I am not angry at you. Because you are seeing your dad from your birth. But you know me only from a month. So it's tough for you to trust me."
I didn't answer Jay. Yes, I know my father from my birth. But I know about Jay too for a long time though he is unaware of this fact. Yes, I am confused and don't understand whom to trust between my dad and husband. Let the time answer this question.
Shwetha brought the dinner for us and we didn't continue the topic. Later on, we slept.
Next morning, I went to my home early in the morning without informing anyone. I didn’t find any one at home and the maid told me that my father was admitted in the hospital. I went to the hospital. I saw my mom there.
"Mom, what happened to dad?"
"He got heart attack before a week and he is in the hospital for a week, Vidya. We informed about this to Jay. Don’t you know this?" Mom said.
Jay didn't inform this to me.
"How is dad's health now?" I said.
"He is unconscious for a week. He is still in the ICU. They are unable to decide anything until now."
If dad is unconscious from a week, he couldn't even know that Jay sent the information to the department. How could he send the goons to attack Jay? Why didn’t Jay inform me about dad’s heart attack?
"Vidya, are you ok?" Mom said.
"I am fine, mom. I will leave now. Let me know if there's any progress in the dad’s health. I will come again in the evening," I said and went to my house after seeing my dad from the glass door of the ICU.
When I returned home, everyone are in tension. Everyone but Jay came to me. Jay sat on the sofa glaring at me.
"Vidya, where were you until now? We were worried about you. You didn't even inform to anyone in us?" Shwetha said.
"Are you fine, sister in law?" Adi said.
"Yes, I am ok. I had a small work. So I went out without informing," I said, looking at Jay. Jay left to the room
"Vidya," Jay shouted from his room and I went to him. I know Jay was worried for me as I forgot to inform him that I went out. I locked the room noticing Jay's anger. Jay pinned me to the wall.
"Where did you go?" Jay said.
"I....I...went..." I stammered while answering Jay seeing his anger.
"Where did you go?" Jay yelled at me again.
"I went to visit my dad."
"Did you inform to anyone of us?"
"I thought I will come fast. So..."
"Did you inform us?"
"No," I said.
"Do you think informing us is not necessary?"
"You said that I can do anything I want. No need to take your permission," I said.
"I said permission is not necessary but I didn’t say you can go anywhere at anytime without informing anyone. Look, this is the first and last warning to you, Vidya, from the next time if you go anywhere you must inform me. Atleast keep a message. Did you get it?" Jay yelled at me and I just nodded.
"Speak out, Vidya. Say that you will inform me whenever you go out."
"I will inform you whereever I go," I said.
My eyes were filled with tears but Jay didn’t react this time. This made me to cry more. Jay left me and laid on the bed again.
"How long are you going to cry like that? This time I am not going to console or pamper you. Because it's your fault this time. Now go and wash your face. Get ready and go to your institute," Jay said but I didn’t move looking at him with tears.
"Should I come there to make you move?" Jay shouted at me again.
"No, I am going. I will get ready."
I went and washed my face. Jay kept staring at me while I am getting ready. I didn’t look at him at all.
"Bring me a coffee and tiffin to both of us. We will have the breakfast here."
I nodded.
I went to the kitchen and prepared the coffee. Shweta came to me but I ignored her. I took the coffee and breakfast for Jay and went to our room. Jay looked at the plate.
"What did I tell you?" Jay said. I looked at him confused.
"Where is your breakfast?"
"I am not hungry," I said.
"Go and bring your tiffin too. Don't argue with me again," Jay said.
I went and brought the tiffin for me too.
I had the breakfast silently. Though I can feel that Jay is looking at me, I didn't give a glance to him. I finished the breakfast and was about to go but Jay held my hand.
"Vidya, please sit. Look at me."
Jay turned me towards him but I closed my eyes. Jay cupped my face and kissed on my eyes seeing me in tears again. Jay hugged me caressing my hairs.
"Don’t cry, Vidya. I am worried for you. Don’t you know that I love to see your face as soon as I wake up? I searched for you every where and called you too. But there's no response from you. Now I don’t have anyone except you and Adi. If anything happens to you or Adi, I can’t bear. Please don't forget to inform me before you go anywhere. You are totally free to go anywhere or do anything. But, just send me a message to relieve me from this tension. I am sorry for shouting at you."
Jay kissed me on the forehead.
"Are you still angry with me?"
"No. I can't be angry at you for a long time," Jay said.
"Shall I ask you one thing?" I said.
"I know what you want to ask me. Why didn’t I inform you about your dad’s heart attack and how could he plan attack at me when he is unconscious?"
"Yes," I said.
"Your dad didn’t get a heart attack. It's a drama. You may not believe but it's true. Within thirty days I will prove everything to you, Vidya. Till then I don’t want to argue with you," Jay said.
"I didn’t get you."
"Just wait for thirty days. You will understand everything. Come, let's ok. I will drop you at the coaching center today."
"But the doctor told you to rest for a week. I will ask Adi to drop me."
"It's ok. I will come with you. I have a small work. After that I will take a rest."
We both started from the home. Jay dropped me at the institute and before I leave, Jay held my hand.
"This is for you, my angel," Jay said, showing me ten chocolates.
"You told me that you are not going to pamper me. Then why were you gifting these chocolates to me?" I said raising my eyebrow.
"I am sorry, Vidya. At that time, I was angry at you. So, I had spoken that harshly to you. But, I can’t see you in tears for a long time. So, I brought these chocolates to you. Tell me what should I do to make you smile? I will do anything for you and your smile."
I hugged him and kissed on the cheek.
"I love you a lot. Even in your anger, I can see how much you love me."
"I love you too, Vidya. Now go to your class. It's getting late."
"Give me my chocolates then," I said and Jay gave the chocolates to me.
"Buy me an ice cream. I will eat it in the evening."
Jay smiled and kissed on my forehead.
"I love your childishness, sweetheart. That makes you so special from others. Take care. Bye," Jay said and I nodded.
I went to the class with a peaceful mind as I understood that it's not Jay's anger but love for me, which made him so worried when he couldn't reach out to me. All I wanted is Jay's love forever.
