Chapter Twenty Four

Jay:

We didn't understand what Suhana said.

"Shwetha, you are mistaken. You don’t know the facts. Actually your mom is my dad’s cousin. She loved him but dad didn’t love her.

One day, in some family function, someone spiked the drinks of dad and your mom. They got intimated. Knowing this dad thought to convince mom and marry your mom. But as your mom didn’t want to create misunderstandings in the family, she left without informing dad.

Dad searched for her but couldn't find her. As your mom wrote in the letter before she left that he shouldn’t reveal anything to mom, he didn’t reveal this. Dad didn't even know about your birth.

After eight years, your mom returned and asked dad to accept you as his child. He agreed and thought to say to mom. But by that time my grandmother (dad's mother) who saw your mom with dad polluted mom’s mind by saying your mom seduced him. Mom went and scolded your mom, blaming her character. After that she went off again.

After two days dad came to know that your mom committed suicide. Dad told everything to mom and mom realised her mistake. Both met the police who dealt with the case of your mom’s suicide. They asked about you but the police answered that they didn’t find child in the spot. They searched for you but failed to find you.

I saw mom and dad feeling sad manytimes remembering this. They really love you, Shwetha. Situations made people misunderstand one another but truly no one did any mistake. But I know how bad you felt being alone and how the life will be of a lonely girl. If you still want revenge from us, I am ready to take the responsibility for the mistake happened by my parents," Suhana said, sitting on knees before Shwetha.

Knowing the truth, I untied Shwetha.
Suhana gave the pistol to Shwetha saying to shoot her as Shwetha planned the attack. We didn't understand what to do as Suhana asked me not to stop Shwetha. Shwetha took the pistol and aimed at Suhana.

"Shwetha, please don’t do anything to didi. If you want to kill, then kill me," I said.

Shwetha turned pistol towards me and then to Suhana. Her hands shivered amd eyes filled with tears. Shwetha dropped the pistol and sat on her knees apologising us.

"I can’t shoot any of you. I love tou both. I can’t shoot. I am sorry for joining hands with the criminals. I am really sorry."

Suhana hugged Shwetha.

"I know you can’t kill a person because you are my sister. You can never do that. Now tell me the truth why did you tell us that you shot Kiran? I know you didn’t shoot. I still remember someone shooting Kiran covering face with mask but I am sure it's not my sis," Suhana said.

"I didn’t shoot Kiran. But I know where he is," Shwetha said.

"Is he alive?" I said.

"Yes but as the bullet went into his brain, he lost his memory. He couldn't recognise us now. I will take you to him," Shwetha said.

I went with Shwetha and Suhana to meet Kiran. Shwetha told Kiran that Suhana is his wife but he is unable to recognise her. As it's not good for his health to remember the things forcibly, they didn’t force him to recall the past. We went from there as Kiran is already under treatment, hoping soon he will remember the past.

Vidya was discharged from the hospital. Suhana told everything to Vidya about Shwetha. She met her brother Kiran though he didn’t recognise her too. It has been one week but I didn't talk to her.

I went out before Vidya wakes up and coming home very late as I want Vidya to sleep. I didn’t even respond to Vidya’s calls. I went home at 1 AM expect that Vidya might have slept by that time. I came to the room and saw Vidya awake. I tried to go but Vidya caught my hand and stopped me.

"Jay, I know you are very angry with me but please forgive me. I can’t live without you. If you are angry, atleast vent out your anger by shouting at me. I am ready to bear your anger but please talk to me. Your silence is killing me. Please talk to me, Jay," Vidya said and I closed my eyes.

I remembered how my child was dead even before coming into this world. I can't forgive you, Vidya. You hurt me so much.

I freed my hand and went off from there. Vidya followed me but I didn’t even look at her. I started the car and went off. I returned home after two hours and found Vidya sleeping on the floor. I think she cried a lot when I left and slept here unknowingly. I lifted her and made her sleep on the bed. I covered her with a comforter.

"Jay, please talk to me," Vidya whispered even in her sleep. I slept beside her silently. In the morning, Vidys woke up while I was getting ready. I thought of leaving the room but Vidya stopped me.

"I am sorry, Jay. Please forgive me and talk to me," Vidya said holding my hands.

"Take tablets and rest, Vidya. Yesterday, I found you sleeping on the floor shivering. I think you got fever. Take care of yourself. Don’t spoil your health thinking that I will forgive you or will care for you. It's all over.

I will never forgive you in my life. So, stop troubling me and yourself too. Lets lead our life separately as you want. By not listening to me, you made it clear that you have no love or respect for me. You will do whatever you want. Now you are completely free to do what you want except bothering me and trying to come into my life," I said, without looking at her. I couldn't see her tears.

Vidya sat on her knees before me, shocking me. I clenched controlling my tears.

"Jay, I know I hurt you a lot but please forgive me once. I will never argue with you and will do whatever you say. Please, excuse me once. I can’t live without you. I can’t even imagine my life without you," Vidya said with tears.

"Enough, Vidya. Stop the drama now. You have done enough which made me clear how important I am to you," I said. She has no value for me, my feelings or my words. I dreamed a lot about our child but her stupidity destroyed everything. I planned everything for her safety but she herself went and brought this pain to both of us.

"Jay, please," Vidya tried to say something.

"Get up, Vidya," I said seriously and Vidya stood up. She looked at me with fear.

"I will ask you a few questions. Will you answer me?" I said and Vidya nodded.

"Do you know how happy I am when I came to know that you are conceived?"

"Yes, I know," Vidya said, closing her eyes.

"Did I warn you not to take any risk and go to Delhi for the safety of you and our child?"

"Yes."

"Did you remember saying to me that you will go to Delhi?"

"Yes," Vidya said, bending her head.

"Then why didn’t you go there and cheated me?"

"No, Jay. I didn’t cheat you. After going inside the airport, I got a call from my friend. She is a junior scientist who is researching on cloning. She said that her senior came to the city and I need to come immediately, if I want to meet him. I came out and searched for u but you left from there. So I went alone," Vidya said.

"Did I give mobile to you and told you to call me, if anything necessary?"

"I am in a hurry and I didn’t get that idea."

"Okay, leave it. Did you know that your life and baby’s life would be in risk if you go there to prove about Kiran?"

"Yes."

"Do you know that if anything happens to you or our child I can’t bear?"

"Yes," Vidya said.

"You didn’t care for my happiness, my words, my sorrow or my feelings. Now tell me why should I forgive you? Tell me atleast one reason to forgive you.

If we love a person, we will care for their happiness and sorrow, we respect their words and understand their feelings, we will keep up our words which we said to them. You didn’t do any of these. Now tell me why should I trust you again?"

She didn't speak anything and her eyes filled with tears again.

"You don't have an answer. So, let me go," I said.

"I accept my mistake. Give me any punishment. But please don’t avoid me. I beg you, Jay," Vidya said.

I was about to go without answering her but Vidya hugged me from the behind. I immediately broke the hug and turned towards her. I caught her very tightly by waist and pulled her towards me.

"Jay, it's paining," Vidya said, looking at me shockingly.

"Really? You want me to be close to you, right? Then, bear it sweetheart. You want me to punish you but not to avoid you. Then, silently bear the torture which is your punishment forever for killing our child," I said.

I tightened the grip and Vidya screamed.

"Now tell me do you want me to leave you or to punish you without leaving you?" I said, holding her tightly.

Vidya is unable to talk as it's paining for her a lot. Her eyes filled with tears.

"Answer me," I shouted at her.

"Don’t… leave…. me," Vidya said.

"So you are ready for the torture as your punishment? Enjoy it," I said.

I pulled her more closer and kissed her on the lips. I bit her on the lower lip. Vidya screamed and I left her. Vidya found her lip bleeding. She was so scared of me. She tried to go from there.

"Wait, sweetheart. I didn’t ask you to go," I said and she looked at me, shivering.

I went to her and pinned her to the wall, locking her between both my hands.

"From now, you are not free to do anything you want. Now let me show you how hard it is to bear when our loved ones hurt us," I said.
