Sleeping pills
"Riya's point of view,"
"Can I be sure that this is your cousin, since, based on his acts, I believe he is a maniac who has escaped from the asylum?" I approached Ankur, who was seated in the club and inquired furiously.
Rahul listened to me with a bowed head.
"Riya, what happened? And why are you so enraged?" Ankur looked at me, surprised, and inquired.
"Why are you asking me this question when you could ask your obnoxious cousin?" I was becoming increasingly enraged, but it wasn't because of Rahul alone; rather, it was because of the Harsh. After seeing him with his family, I'm becoming increasingly enraged. I understand that whatever happened between us was not his wife's fault, but I can't help but be envious of his wife.
"I did nothing but go look for Riya." Rahul spoke with a frightened tone.
"Please, Rahul, keep your mouth shut."
"Although I informed you I disliked your cousin, I consented to be friends with him on your recommendation. But I cannot make such a cocky person my friend." I took out my phone and walked out without hesitating for even a second.
I was fuming with rage and because I was holding the steering wheel in my hand; It seems to me like I was holding Harsh's wife's neck in my hands, so I took out my rage on my driving. I was speeding down the highway at 120 miles per hour without seeing the road. I've survived at least four accidents, but today I want my accident to happen; it's suffocating me from the inside.
My phone screen was constantly flashing with Ankur's call.
As soon as I received the call, I said to Ankur, "Leave me alone."
"Riya, please listen to me." It filled his words with concern for me, but all I could see was my rage.
I had somehow made it to my hotel room unharmed.
I went into the bathroom and turned on the cold water shower, standing underneath it. A part of my voice was being trapped inside of me, and I wanted to scream, but couldn't. As I stood in the shower, the water in the shower stopped streaming from my eyes.
I'm good now, so I put on my bathrobe and sat in my bed, ordering a beer from the hotel room service. They didn't have any beer, so I had to order whiskey. I didn't care what I was drinking; I needed to relax. But, even after drinking whiskey today, why can't I sleep?
"Ankur, I couldn't sleep," as soon as he answered the phone, I asked him my inquiry.
"So your rage has dissipated at 2 a.m.," he taunted me without responding to my statements.
" It's 2 a.m., and I haven't fallen asleep yet; I'll have dark circles under my eyes again tomorrow morning." I expressed my concern in a troubled tone.
In a harsh tone, he asked, "Riya, how much beer have you had?"
I told him angrily that I didn't drink beer.
"What were you drinking at the time?" In a troubled tone, he inquired.
"I drank whiskey today," and I felt quite proud of myself as if consuming whiskey had won me a magnificent crown.
"Riya, you wait in your room for me; I'll come to you." Hearing his voice, I knew he was furious with me.
"Can you bring me sleeping pills?" I only wanted to sleep by doing anything because if I didn't, my head would explode with anguish.
"Have you gone insane, Riya? Will you now take sleeping pills to get some rest?"
How can he chastise me like this?
"You can't do much for me as my friend; I have a crucial meeting tomorrow; do you want dark circles under my eyes?"
"Stop crying; I'll talk to you tomorrow when you've regained your sanity; in the meantime, I'll get you some sleeping pills." Before he hung up on me, he told me, But why did I have the impression that he was threatening me?
"Thank you, Ankur." I quickly snatched the pills from his grip and swallowed them. My eyelids got heavy due to sleep in no time.
My irritating morning alarm, as usual, forced me to open my eyelids. I was ready to get out of bed and go to the bathroom, but I hadn't awakened yet, and my feet felt like they'd landed on something other than the floor.
"What the hell are you doing here, Ankur?" When I saw him resting on the ground beside my bed, I questioned.
He said, rolling his eyes, "Waiting for you to regain consciousness."
"But why is that?"
"Is it necessary for me to tell you?" He yelled fiercely and inquired.
"You can't be mad at me like this," I ignored him and went to take my clothing out of the Almirah.
"Riya, you took sleeping pills last night. You should know how harmful it is to take sleeping pills for no cause at all."
"Will you have a cup of coffee?" To ease his rage, I ignored him and tried to distract his attention to the other side.
"You don't be act smart; just answer the questions I've asked;" It irritated him with me. I've never seen him angry, and he always seems to understand my emotions, despite what happened to him today.
"Harsh.
He encountered me with his family at the dining area yesterday. He is extremely happy with his wife,"
"Well so you are envious of his wife?" Saying nothing, he understood how I was feeling.
"Yes, I am envious." Last night, I couldn't sleep because I kept thinking about Harsh and his wife.
"Have you ever considered how Harsh felt when he learned about your and Rachit's relationship?"
"Don't taunt me too much, Ankur; I'm already feeling his anguish. Since I defrauded him and he didn't waste any time forgetting about it, the score is now even."
He remarked as he sat on the couch, "How did you settle the accounts, you have cheated on him and he has entered a relationship with someone else after you left?"
Seeing Ankur seated in front of me, I felt like I wasn't talking to my friend but Harsh's friend as I was becoming irritated listening to Ankur's remarks. He always understood my sentiments and explained things to me, so why is he ridiculing me for my faults now?
"No, Ankur, you are mistaken; Harsh also assured me he would never give my place to anybody else, but he immediately gave it to someone else once I left. He had promised me he would never abandon me, but when I left him, he did not find me. Rachit and I were dating, but I couldn't stop worrying about him."
I wiped my tears and said, "Well, leave, I thought you'd never judge me."
"Riya, you have misunderstood me; I am not passing judgment on you, but I am concerned for your well-being. How long will you continue to cause yourself pain by remembering Harsh? You agreed to work with Rachit with minor consideration; can't you just forget about Harsh and continue with your life, as if Rachit is no longer on your mind?"
"No, I didn't love Rachit because he was my only attraction, and Harsh... well, I have to leave because I'm late for work." I gathered my belongings and proceeded to the restroom.
"Ok, before you leave, remember to be ready at 8 p.m. because you will see Rahul again today." Before he left my room, he stated this.
"No way," I screamed, stomping my feet fiercely on the floor.
"I had already scheduled an appointment for 8 p.m.," but he decided and left my hotel room before I could respond.
