Soft corner?
"Riya's point of view,"
"Riya, how are you today?" Rachit's voice irritates me, but I can't vent my rage on him professionally because his work is flawless.
"Rachit, good morning. I'm perfectly fine." I ignored him and walked toward my cabin before he asked me any more questions.
For the past two weeks, he has been annoying me. He never misses an opportunity to flirt with me. How many times have I told him that nothing will ever be the same between us again, but he refuses to listen? He has taken this thing on his ego, just like everything else. I'm not sure why he thinks if he continues to insist in this manner, I will eventually accept him. How do I explain to him I don't want to make the same mistake and be labeled an idiot again?
"Riya, your black coffee." Rachit walked into my cabin and slid the mug of coffee in front of me.
"How many times have I told you? You should address me as madam, but even such a minor detail of mine slips your mind?"
"I will not address you as madam; you are free to be upset with me." Sitting in the chair directly across from mine, he remarked.
"Do you realize that if you weren't so meticulous with your job, I would have been fired you from this project because of your behavior?" I said as I sipped my coffee.
"You'll never do something like this to me. That's all I know about you." With a sly smirk, he responded.
"Rachit, This is a big mistake on your side, and you should fix it as quickly as possible." I issued a warning to him. But when I see him, I get the impression that he doesn't care what I say. He simply wants to satisfy his urge.
"No, Riya, I'm not mistaken for you; I believe you still have a soft spot in your heart for me." It made me laugh to listen to him.
"Rachit put down your daydreams."
"I've heard that daytime dreams often come true." Like a roadside lover, he was flirting with me. What does he think? I'll forgive him and fall for his cheap tricks once more.
"You'll have to stop your shit if you don't stop your shit, then..."
"Otherwise, what are you going to do?" He asked, moving closer to my chair.
"Do you remember what happened the last time you attempted to approach me?"
"Riya, if you show any more wildness in front of me, you should know that I know how to handle it. Let me remind you of what happened in Shimla four years ago."
"That will not work for me." I murmured as I sank back into my chair.
"So now, Riya, Mittal, is becoming increasingly fearful of me. Are you scared that if I get too close to you, you won't be able to control your irrational desires?"
"No, I have no such dread, and I no longer care about you." I responded by looking him in the eyes.
"Why do you avoid me if that's the case?"
"Because I'm not interested in wasting my time with you."
"So now you think spending time with me is a waste of time?"
"Yes, without a doubt."
"Have you forgotten how you used to come up with excuses to spend time with me?"
"I have forgotten nothing. You shattered my life by entrapping me into your fake love trap."
"I haven't destroyed your life. I loved you."
"So love is such that you distrust your lover and, in exchange for money, cheat on them and marry someone else?"
"Riya, When are you going to quit criticizing me for past mistakes?" It filled his voice with irritation.
"When you are truly ashamed of your wrongdoing."
"So, what makes you believe I don't regret my mistake?" He inquired, his brows furrowed.
"No, I don't believe you regret your decision in the least."
"So, how can I persuade you to believe in me?"
"Are you certain you'll follow my instructions?" I inquired as I rose from my seat.
"Yes, absolutely."
"Okay, just leave me alone and don't bother me with anything other than work."
"Riya, I can't stay away from you any longer."
"Rachit, please take your file and leave my cabin." He grabbed the file from my hand after hearing my angry voice and walked out of my cabin, giving me a disapproving glance.
I took a deep breath once he departed. Rachit causes me more stress than my office work. I have to take an additional sleeping pill today because of this idiot. Oh, I forgot, I finished my sleeping pills. I have to leave the office before the medical store closes.
"Riya, can we plan the project's progress meeting immediately if you are not late?" Mr. Joseph came up to me and asked me just as I was about to end my work and leave Allen Industries. Meetings scheduled outside of normal business hours irritate me, but this one would include people from various time zones, so I couldn't refuse to go along with it.
The meeting ended at ten o'clock in the evening. All the surrounding medical stores must have been closed. On such nights, I can only buy sleeping pills from the hospital's emergency medical store. Things were becoming terrible outside. There would be a storm besides the heavy thunder. My hotel is direct across the street from the hospital. Considering the weather, I intended to return to my hotel immediately.
But what about my sleeping pills? Harsh's thoughts will not let me sleep comfortably until I take medicine before bedtime. I don't want to bother Ankur by consuming alcohol repeatedly, and he's already upset with me because I turned down Rahul's proposal. I know his rage is just temporary, but if I try to persuade him, he'll start planning a date with someone else. That is why I have decided not to approach him on my behalf until the work I completed here and I will not return to America.
Anyway, my work will be finished in two weeks, and I will not waste time in blackmailing him to persuade him. I know there's only one reason he's doing this, and that's because he cares about me, but I've already promised myself that no matter what happens, I will not give Harsh's place in my life to anyone else. If Harsh isn't mine, no one can take the memory of Harsh from me.
When I got close to the hospital, it shocked me to see Rachit's car. After all, why is he in the hospital tonight after work? I parked my car on the side of the road, away from his sight. I couldn't help but follow him because of my curiosity. Looking at him, it appeared as if he was planning a secret meeting. By whom, though?
Is he smuggling medicines?
Shut up Riya. What the hell are you talking about, Rachit Smuggler? My subconscious became enraged after hearing my ridiculous jokes. Simply follow him. My subconscious ordered me.
Inside the hospital, I began following him. He walked into a doctor's office and shut the door.
Oh no, how will I know what he's here for now? My curiosity will not allow me to relax until I learn why he has come here. I pushed ajar the cabin door and peered inside. Rachit sat in front of the doctor, who was explaining something to him while gazing at an open file on the table in front of him.
I couldn't hear what was going on between them, but I could hear the doctor's voice clearly when he stood up from his chair and began rummaging through the documents on the table near the door. I didn't know how to react after listening to that doctor. Rachit was about to get out of the cabin and get up from his chair.
What if he notices me here? After closing the cabin door, I was going to fly away when my phone's ringtone interrupted my activity.
"Riya, what are you doing here?" Rachit finally caught up with me as I chased after him.
