Chapter 20

Derek could sense that there is a rivalry wolves are not far from where they are. When he realizes this, he knows that they have to leave the premises right immediately, but he doesn't know what he has to do to make up an excuse to get away from here. He can see that the other hikers are moving forward and he is quite distressed by the situation. If they would not get out of this situation immediately it would bring about harm to each and every one of them. Especially because he was not powerful enough to take on whoever this reverie Wolf is, and just as his thinking of what to do, he heard a sound from the front and he looks off to find out someone is injured. And because of this, Team Leader of the hiking team asks everyone to begin to go back because they realized that they are traps in the forest. Then because of this, they have to head back.
After they left the mountain Derek asks Elizabeth if she was hungry and she obliges. They went to a restaurant not too far from the hiking place
to have breakfast it's a small old restaurant at the side of the town and people will leave there very best in the restaurant because they sell the oldest tasting waffles in do love Chester after they get a table, Elizabeth looks around, she hasn't been here before. She did not know a lot of places because she was new in the city. And it was nice to at least be in a place that has been here since time immemorial. After getting a table she watches as he calls the waitress who takes their orders and then they have to speak to each other.
"So what do you do?" He asks, and she takes a deep breath before she begins to explain.
"I'm a journalist. I'm here interested to write an article about the city. It's a project and I have to write up a good story for the papers."
She says any notes in understanding.
"So what about you? What do you do?" She asks.
"Oh, I'm really I'm into real estate. It's a family business of some sort, and has been in real estate for the longest" He says.
The waitress comes back carrying two plates of waffles and whipped cream, which some bacon stripes and freshly squeezes mango juice. Elizabeth could not see the gesture of the waitress, and how she looked, smiled and had petty chat with Derek.
"Do you always get this much attention from the ladies?" She asked.
them no? She asked him.
"Well, occasionally, he said but trust me is not as fun as you think it is". He smiled.
"Okay, I believe you." She said.
While they were having breakfast an acquaintance of Derek walked into the restaurant. She was pretty. She had rich black hair, which sat beautifully on her shoulder and the eyes were also blue. She looked younger and really beautiful. She approached the table. Elizabeth looked surprised as she saw the lady approach them.
She approached their table and says.
"Hello Derek. How Valarie you doing?" she smiled.
"Hi, Valerie. What are you doing here?" He said in an uninterested voice.
"Oh I came to watch you eat dummy!" she smiled weirdly." And get breakfast after that. Is this your mom sitting here?"
She asked trying to be rude and referring to Elizabeth.
"Oh no she's not but guess what? you seem closer to death than she is." Derrek said and laughed hysterically.
Elizabeth obviously felt offended by what she said. And give her a very mean look. But she was glad Derrek they had the back. And it was hilarious.
Although she didn't know what he meant by saying she's close to death. Valerie walked away and Elisabeth asked him what was the meaning of that? He apologized for her behavior and explained that she was his evil ex. And it was just an inside joke. Like always hurts when you say things like.
Valerie left these restaurants after she had gotten her breakfast she gave Elizabeth a very mean look as she left.
Elizabeth said she enjoyed the waffles and thank them for breakfast. As they exit was the edits was the oh. Oh shit. I know is no while they
They had small talks after their breakfast and later took their leave. left the restaurant Derek kissed goodbye on her hands of course.
Elizabeth got to her hotel and her colleague Lea questioned her on why she has been absent for a while.
She asked her where she has been to. And she says she went I can. Ooh.
"Seems like you're having more fun in this city than I am." Lea said.
Well it's a tour, we are supposed to have fun. And if you're not, that's on you" Elizabeth laughed.
"Have you spoken to mayor Campbell yet? Lea asked.
"Oh yeah, let me call him." Elizabeth remembered.
"But really, where did you go?" Lea was consistent.
"Don't be nosy punk. Okay, I'll try to my business." Lea backed out.
"Don't forget your husband." She added.
Elizabeth was offended by what she said but she also felt Elizabeth guilty.
"Back off idiot." She replied angrily.
She knew that it was time to stop the playful dates with Derrek. Then and there she decided that she wasn't going to see him anymore. She wasn't going to push any further with him.
But again she knew she wasn't committing any crime, she was just trying to be free and have some fun. She's not going back in obviously.
Elizabeth took her phone and tried the Mayor Campbell's number again. But May is number one straight voicemail. So tried his assistants number. She decided that she was going to go and visits him at the office.
As she prepared for that she got a text from Derek.
"Hi, what are you doing this evening?"
"I need to see the City mayor." She replied.
"Ok be safe then." He said.
She left for the mayor's office. When she got there, his assistant claimed that the Mayor is not around. She asked the assistants, why, her calls have been going to the voicemail, he claimed that the Mayor is having a busy week and he would give her a call when he is free.
Now, Elizabeth has gotten more curious, because she could sense that they were being shady and maybe they were trying to hide something. Now she is more focused about getting to the prisoners on the "sea", like they said.
As Elizabeth left the left the mayor's office in the evening, she saw black SUV car drive towards her.
The car parked in front of her and it was Hello Derek.
At first Elizabeth thought it was the Mayor because the car looked expensive.
"Your Uber back home is here." Derrek said from the car and smiled.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"You said you were going to the mayor's office. Hop in" he said.
#It was actually a very expensive looking blah car. And she wondered what it was. For me to start it was the meal. He drove closer and wind down his window and she saw Derek, what are you doing here? She asked. Oh, he said you were going to the mayor's office and I wanted to give you a ride back to your place from the mayor's office.#
She smiled. She looked around to make sure nobody was looking at her as she got into his car he.
"You didn't have to do this." she said as he drove.
"Oh, it's my pleasure. I mean, I don't have much to do right now. I don't have any company. I was also wondering if you will once come to my place let me give you a nice dinner." Derrek said.
"Here we go again she said I don't think I'm going to be coming to your place, I'm a married woman Derrek." She explained.
#Since you're not doing anything serious this evening. I mean if he can check his channel can we go out he acts#
She gave him the description so house but he drove it your farther.
"Where are we going?" she asked curiously.
"He said oh we're going bowling. Your face seems a bit down and I'm trying to lighten up your day." He smiled
She went quiet for a moment.
"Or do you have something else to do, I can drop you home
immediately." He said.
"No you're right I'm on tour after all." Elizabeth added.
"Good choice then!" He proceeded to the casino.
She had a good time with him at the casino. He dropped her at her hotel after their fun day together.
Her colleague met her at the hotel entrance when she was coming down from Derrek's car.
"Who's your friend Lizzy?" Lea asked.
"Oh my tour guide." She smiled.
"You didn't introduce us." Lea said.
"Bea I nosy Fuck!" She said as she ignored Lea
Elizabeth realize that she's getting to drawn to Derek while she laid on her bed thinking of him.
and she had to tell him for a minute.
"I think we should stop seeing each other I'm a married woman with two children." She texted.
"What do you mean?" he said.
"Look I'm just trying to be your friend and you are just catching up you as a tourist. I'm just your unpaid tour guide again." She smiled.
Soon Elizabeth attention started to divert from staying away from Derrek. Rather she began to look forward to seeing her "unpaid tour guide again" She's trying to have the best time in an unexplored the city and she thought. And what will it hurt to explore things.
It couldn't hurt anyways Derrek is a gentleman. She knew that visiting the prison was going to take longer than she expected. So she thought to have the best time of her life while she's in Chester city.
Elisabeth texted Derek telling him that she would take the offer of coming to this place for dinner.
"You know what, I'll have that dinner with you, let's do it tomorrow" she texted.
Derek got excited. "Oh day wonderful, but you will do the cooking!" he replied.
The next day in the evening, Derrek sent a limo to pick Elizabeth up from the hotel. Her colleague from work was surprised.
"Where are you going?" Lea asked.
"Oh, just a function. With some new friends." Elizabeth said.
"A function that I didn't know about. " Lea was amused.
"Look is nothing serious. I'll tell you about this when I get back." She said.
Elizabeth's felt like she was under-dressed for this occasion when she saw a limousine. A lot of thoughts ran through her mind like how rich her date might because he sent a limo a to pick her up. how rich is this guy? Well I'm about to find out.
The journey to his house was aa bit far.it was almost at the outskirts of the city. Soon they approached a mansion. She had never seen something so beautiful in life. It was filled with trees and flowers.
The mansion looked old, but also new at the same time. It looked like it had been there for ages but its kept up with trend. It seemed like going on a vacation to an entire different city cos the air was different. Everything in the house looks like it was owned by a bloody billionaire. The house had no gate but you could tell that you're somewhere different as soon as you entered the estate and the drive from the entrance to the mansion was a bit long. The limo soon drove her to the front entrance of the house. She stepped out of the limo and was welcomed by a servant into the house. She thought maybe this was a wrong date.
She had to ask again.
"Hello, uhm, I'm looking for Derek." She confirmed.
"Mr. Derek. Yes is waiting for you." The servant said with a smile.
She escorted Elizabeth to the living room where Derrek came out in a sweatpants and sweatshirt.
"Hi Elizabeth. How are you doing?" He smiled.
She was short of words for a moment.
"At least I'm not as underdressed as I thought I was." she smiled.
"Are you like…rich?" She asked.
"Oh, I'm okay, I'm comfortable is the word."
"So this house belongs to your ancestors or what?" She asked.
"You are right on track"" Derrek replied.
"Who are your forefathers?" she asked
"Wow you asked the best questions." He said in sarcasm.
"I'm sorry, I was just.."
"Its fine." Derrek interrupted.
"Yes this place belongs to my parents and their parents before, but they are dead now. So it's all mine and so is their businesses."
"Oh wow!"
She was a bit flattered that someone so young and rich with such class and wealth will actually look at her married ass twice.
"Welcome. Now you are going to teach me how to make that" salmon after all." He joked.
The cook together in the kitchen. Derek made a laugh so much. He was so charming and caring, he was also it was also a gentle man. He didn't make any improper move towards her.
She was impressed like she actually thought she found something in this city. Even though she hadn't found the exact thing that she was actually looking for.
That's the story of the prisoners. She found something beautiful and she would never forget. After the night was over, Derek kissed good nights, and ordered the chauffeur to drop her back in her hotel without even making any move. Elizabeth wished he had actually made a move towards her during her stay at his house. She was filled with smile all through a way back to her hotel.
Her loaded her with questions when she got back but she wasn't having any of that.
"Where did you go so late at night? Why are you talking to you don't anybody in the city? Why are you talking to? "She kept asking waiting for answers but Elizabeth kept shutting her off.
Elizabeth could not get Derek off her mind all through the night. She wondered why he made no move towards her.
She felt guilty again after she got a call from her husband but something in her mind kept taking her mind back to Derrek.
She is a she's married woman but why is she thinking of the Also she possibility of having an affair. But if she had an affair with Derrek it will not go beyond his house because nobody knows her here and his house is at the outskirt of town. She wasn't going to live there; He wasn't going to go out of Chester city find her. This was the perfect "Whatever happens in Chester to stay in Chester." Situation She wanted to text him so bad, but she couldn't.
She expected texts from him but he didn't text her back. She slept off while thinking about him.
The next morning, she woke up to check her phone. She didn't see any text from him. She began to wonder if he lost interest in her and that made her mad. She could not concentrate on work or anything.
She wondered if he didn't find her interesting anymore, or he just realized that she is not worthy of him. All day, she got no call from him or from the Mayor.
She was forced to call him back after two a long contemplation. He picked the call immediately it rang and that made her smile.
"Hello, Elizabeth. How are you?" He asked casually
"Have you had a good night's rest? He added.
"Yes, I had three nights of good rest without hearing from you." Elizabeth said.
He went quiet for a bit and sighed over the phone.
"Did I do something wrong?" she asked.
".No you could never." Derrek said.
"Then what is it?" She asked curiously.
"I don't know if I can explain it over the phone. Would you like us to meet up?" He asked.
"Where."
"Maybe for coffee or something." He suggested.
"I'll be out in an hour, can I pick you up." He requested.
"Sure!" Elizabeth was a bit relieved that he still wanted to talk to her. She didn't know what she was feeling about him but she knew that it was new and different. She had just met him for a week and she is already calling him like they are lovers.
Soon Derrek drove to the front of her hotel and she got in his car.
They went out for coffee and Elizabeth requested that he tells her everything that is running through her mind.
He smiled and looked at her.
"I couldn't stop thinking of you since you left my place" he said as he looked into her eyes.
"They why wouldn't you call?" she asked.
"I don't know what it is about you: maybe It's your smile, your hair, your beautiful smile or just your charm but, I'm getting too fond of you Elizabeth. You are married and I know that I cannot have you." He said with remorse "Do you know how much my chest hurts when I remember that you wouldn't have me." He confessed.
Elizabeth went quiet for a while.
"But you said we are friends…" Elizabeth said.
"isn't that what we are right now but, I'm not sure I can be jut friends with you. I am very much attracted to you. Derrek said.
Elizabeth was happy to hear all these and she was ready to give herself to him but she had this little thing called marriage holding her back. She wanted to live her life freely but also stay married because she loves her husband. But she was ready to scratch this zit.
