13 - Dirty Pleasures
Immediately I spot Shawn and Kyle together, as if he sensed me Shawn’s eyes drifted to my direction and he spots me, his eyes weren’t welcoming but he manages a smile nevertheless. I approach them slowly with both of them staring at me at me now and it took everything in me not to stare at Kyle. I could feel his eyes hold me captive but I refused to be a prisoner to him, at least not at that moment.
“I see you’ve met Kyle Hart – he’s my boss” I smiled nervously, my palms were sweating and I wiped them on my dress. I tried to keep my tone light and maybe with a professional tone and hoping Shawn wouldn’t see through my bullshit. Could he tell – could he remember Kyle and that he was the reason I was a mess before he met me?
“Kyle Hart?” Shawn repeated with his eyes fixed on Kyle and then he looked at me, “You didn’t tell me your ex is now your boss”
“I – I – ” I fought for my words but they weren’t forthcoming, “I didn’t think it was necessary.” I said instead while Kyle watched silently, I could see the hint of amusement color his face and I wanted to smack it off him.
“But it doesn’t matter because he’s seeing Sam now.” the words flew out of my mouth before I had a chance to stop it and Kyle shot me a look.
“Right Kyle?” I looked at him, my eyes were pleading, “In fact I was thinking we could all have a double date sometime this week.”
“Right.” Kyle echoed but his eyes still never left mine, “Double date, how fun?”
Shawn nodded and I saw his shoulders relax, it never occurred to me that Shawn would remember Kyle after all these years. I had never mentioned Kyle to Shawn once we started dating except there was something he wasn’t telling me.
“We need to go now, I booked a reservation at Claire’s,” Shawn said to me then he faced Kyle stretching out his hands for a handshake which Kyle took, “Always a pleasure that we get to meet – again.” the last part was stretched and I thought.
Again?
Have they met before? When? How? Where? Where was I in all of this? Instead I pushed all my questions to the back of my head, “I’ll get my bag”
When I came back down Kyle was gone and leaving just Shawn leaning on the hood of his car and waiting for me. The car ride was awkwardly silent and I could feel the tension brewing in the air, and when I looked at Shawn, his jaw was set and his eyes were fixed on the road.
“You’re quiet.” I said and he stayed silent for a while before he gave a long sigh.
“You never told me he was your boss.” he said.
“I didn’t think it was important – ”
“It is important.” he interrupted
“I just found out recently, it’s not like I had always known.” I defended.
He paused, the silence stretching between us as he searched for the words to say while the guilt sat in my stomach, then he asked.
“Do you miss him?”
His voice was clear and unwavering but I was silent because the truth was damning and Shawn took it as an answer regardless.
“Right.” he said, his tone low and I fought to find my words.
“No – no Shawn. I don’t miss him at all and besides he’s with Sam now and that’s probably why he’s in California now.” I was telling a bold-faced lie, what kind of human being was i?
“I don’t miss him at all, you’re the one I choose Shawn.” I reached out to hold his free hand, “And I love you.” That wasn’t a lie, I loved Shawn and I only had to deal with the sinful attraction I bore towards Kyle and that was it.
Shawn spared me a look briefly, like there was an internal battle going on within him but his eyes softened when I told him I loved him and he squeezed my hand.
“Then prove it.” he said next, and I shot him a look.
“How so?”
“Quit your job.” he said and I paused. This time we had reached Claire’s and we were just parked out front while Shawn waited for my response.
“Not this again Shawn. I’m not quitting my job. I’m not going to throw away a good shot at my career just because you want me to or because you’re insecure.”
“I’m not insecure – ” then he stopped squeezing his temples and he looked at me with an apologetic look, “Fine, I’m sorry. Can we go eat now? I’m starving.”
“Sure.” I said with one thing at the back of my head. I had to avoid Kyle even more.

Later that evening, while Shawn worked on his laptop and I had taken a relaxing shower that managed to keep my nerves at a normal rate, I decided to call Sam and let her know about her new relationship with Kyle and how I needed to plan this date and get it over with as soon as possible.
The call rang and she picked on the third ring only that it wasn’t her voice that came through on the receiver.
“Aria.” it was deep, husky and so familiar – it was Kyle and I froze. All the nerves that I had fought to relax were rising back up.
“What the hell are you doing?” I said to him.
“I’m at my girlfriends house, or isn’t that what it is anymore?” he said in that cocky voice of his.
“Why did you say I was with Sam to him - your boyfriend." he spat the word boyfriend like it was some dirty word he did not want to be associated with, "Why? So that I’ll be safely off limits?”
I pressed my lips together and closed my eyes in frustration. He was everywhere I went, I couldn’t even call my best friend without him popping up there too.
“No – no,” I managed to say, “I mean you two should be together if you want to be, don’t let me stop you. It’s none of my business really.”
“Mmhmm.” Kyle’s voice dripped cockiness and sarcasm.
“Honestly Kyle, I’m fine with it.”
“Really?” he said again. “Let’s see how fine with it you are.”
Just then, my phone began to ring because he was requesting a video call.
“Oh God!” I sighed nervously, my heart going at it again, but I was curious and if there was anything about me it was that, I would always satisfy my curiosity. I wanted to see how far he would go to make me jealous.
So I took the call and watched Kyle place the phone in an angle that I could see Sam’s house. I saw Sam walk out of the bathroom and approach Kyle.
“Honestly, what do you want Kyle.” she said.
Kyle scratched his head “Um, I don’t know if you’re still cool with us doing this – you know, after Aria.”
Sam stared hard at him then she said, “I think that’s a no.”
“Why? Because of Aria?”
Sam shrugged, “Aria’s happy with Shawn, she doesn’t care if I fuck you or not.”
Kyle chuckled, moving closer to her now, “So what’s the problem then if Aria is fine with it?”
“You are so damn cocky Kyle,” Sam gave a dry laugh, her hair falling over face, “You don’t think there could be any other reason I could possibly say no to you besides Aria?”
I watched Kyle play around with the hem of her bath robe, then drawing those same delicate lines along the base of her neck the same way he did with me and I felt something constrict in my chest. He kissed her neck and bit the flesh just above her breast and Sam gasped.
“I think this is a mistake and you should go.” Sam tried to stay but Kyle only chuckled.
“Oh really” he said but instead he ran his hands along her inner thigh, his fingers finding the sweet spot in between her legs and I think he found it because Sam moaned loudly. I felt the heat rise within me.
“I don’t think that’ll be fair to you, look at you – you’re dripping already.” he said to her and still going at it until he pulled his hands away suddenly and with that annoying cocky voice of his, he said.
“But if that’s what you want.”
Sam stared hard at him, I could see the conflictions in her face just until she couldn’t take it anymore and she pulled him to her, and smashing her lips on his.
My mouth fell open as I watched them kiss with a desperate urgency and hurriedly begin to undress themselves while that same heat began to spread to all parts of my body. I should end the call but the need to watch Kyle fuck my best friend was greater. My loins groaned while I watched him pound into her from behind until I couldn’t hold it anymore. I could feel the wetness gathering a pool between my legs when I moved my fingers to touch my clit and it zinged, causing a gasp to escape my lips from the pleasure that emanated.
So, I set my phone down and I opened my legs wide and I touched myself to a climax watching Kyle ram into Sam hungrily.
It makes me remember the first time I had sex with Kyle.
