56 - NUMBER TWO

KYLE’S POV

“I need to know what’s going on or I’m calling the police” Shawn kept hounding me when I just needed a moment to think. This time I wasted no time in snatching off his cracked iphone from his hands as his fingers hovered over the dial button and I grabbed him by his shirt.

“You can’t call the bloody police – you don’t know who these people are and what they deal with, you cannot involve the police. Do you understand the words that are coming out my mouth?”
Shawn shoved me away “Why is Aria is involved in that, what kind of sick shit do you have going on that leads to my girl getting fucking kidnapped” then he scoffed, with me suddenly getting annoyed as the words *my girl* rolled seamlessly off his tongue, no she’s not your girl – she’s supposed to be my girl.

“And why shouldn’t I involve the police? You’re scared you’re going to get caught up on it and just maybe you’ll go to jail for the crimes you actually committed” his stare was poisonous and I clenched my fist beside me till my knuckles turned white in a desperate attempt to stop myself from punching him in the face, afterall I had a punch to return but i sighed instead.

“Just – just stay out of it, allow me take to take care of it and I’ll bring her straight to you – you have my word” I said and we stayed locked in each other’s stare for what felt like eternity until Shawn pulled his eyes away first and grabbing his phone from my hand.

“Less than twenty-four hours and I’m calling the police” he said before backing away and walking out of my office.

I tried to put the puzzle pieces together in my head as I paced my office and equally trying to figure out the best strategy. It was obvious my father was involved but my father he would never carry out the dirty work himself hence why Spider is involved. But then I thought what would my father gain from taking Aria hostage, but he would very much appreciate it if she was out of the way altogether so there was only one answer, only one person who had a personal vendetta with me and would also benefit in taking Aria – Mr. Venzo and who was very much in LA as we speak. I needed to get Aria out of there without causing a scene, Mr. Venzo was a mafia boss and he wasn’t scared to in fact cause a scene if it meant having his way.

Immediately, I stopped pacing and snatched my phone off the table, I needed to find Aria’s location and the fastest way I could do that was to send her information to my security expert team – Amos. Amos had been the greatest asset to my company, it cost a few millions to keep him around but at least he always gets the job done. So quickly, I sent him Aria’s information.

“I need this location – it’s urgent. I’m not sure the phone is still switched on but do your thing”

His reply came in less than a second and hope rose in my chest “Disabled phone – might take a while boss”

Hope crashing, a shiver passing through my spine and the thought of Aria staying longer with those slimy bastards made my blood boil.

“How long?”

“Few hours” he sent back and I groaned impatiently, come on Amos.

“Make it quicker, damn it!” No response came forth after I sent that and one thing about Amos was that he didn’t like being rushed but this was terribly urgent and I needed him to understand that fact, but all I could do was prance around and hope Amos understands how urgent this and also – I needed to round up my security team. I would never enter the enemies territory without back up, it would be foolish for me.
I couldn’t think, I couldn’t function, I glanced at my phone every passing second like a teenager with ADHD. My stomach churned with anxiety and I kept replaying her voice in my head, the last words she said to me

*“Don’t let him take me away”

I would never let anything happen to her and it was all my fault. The blame game was climbing to an all high. It was all my bloody fault, I should have never let her go to Florida herself, I should have been right there with her in that plane and while she met with Mr. Venzo. I should have – I should have been there. I should have been here the previous day before her, I should have waited for her and not let her get here first.
The insistent thoughts fluttered in and out of my head and there was no way to stop it because my brain was littered with thoughts of her. *I’m coming Aria, just wait for me – I’m coming for you.

ARIA’S POV

I was back on the cold cement floor, with my hair scattered and tangled all over my face and part of it clinging to my sweat filled forehead. Spider had shoved me back here after I bit his hands and kicked him in the nuts, then I proceeded to pull out my phone which I saw peeking out of the back pockets of his grimy jean trousers. I had spotted first when he threw me over his shoulders and the only thing that had been in my head was how to grab it, I didn’t care about the consequences, I needed Kyle to know where I was and who had taken me. I was almost successful but my brain had been muddled with fear that I couldn’t form coherent words when I finally got to Kyle until Spider had regained himself and grabbed me immediately, snatching my phone from my hands and smashing it on the floor. I watched in horror as my phone shattered into pieces and I could feel Spider’s smirk in the darkness.

“Don’t ever do that or else I’ll bloody kill you” he growled at me before he grabbed me by my hair and shoved me back into the dark room. I laid still on the floor, allowing the tears slip from my eyes with silent sobs as I tried to figure out what next to do.

Hours passed and I must have fallen asleep at some point but my eyes popped open and I sat up suddenly, the reality of my situation suddenly hitting me. I stood to my feet immediately and walked slowly around the room, my eyes searching the darkness trying to find something, anything at all that it didn’t matter what it was. My apprehension was growing, my fear doubling with each minute that flew by and I was still locked up here. I walked to the door and felt around, it was a metal door with an iron handle, the kind with a dead bolt and from the looks of it, it was bolted from outside.

That was when I felt it – a brick which was just laying helplessly by the door which I think had been previously used as a wedge for the door. I picked it up, it was heavy but that shouldn’t matter when my life was at stake. It was solid enough and slowly a plan trickled into my head. I didn’t waste no time and I started banging on the door and instantly Spider growled back.

“What!” I could sense the annoyance in his voice.

“I need to use bathroom” I yelled.

“Do it there” he yelled back and I grimaced looking at the tiny bowl that had been placed there for convenience.

“I can’t do number 2 here, what kind of sick shit is that?” I echoed back and my heart dropped when I got no response back.

“I promise, I’ll be good” I added softly hoping to pull at his heart strings that I wasn’t sure existed still no response came. I was on the verge of giving up and dropping the brick when I heard the metallic click of the bolt, nearly catching me off guard. Immediately, I stood in position where he wouldn’t see me when the door finally flung open. I waited a beat till he took a step inside the darkness and I swung hard and I didn’t stop even when he was in the floor. Gladly, he went down without a noise and I took my chance.

I fled.
