61 - BOOBOO KISSER
It was pretty fast and no, we weren’t going that far. Kyle circled the stony driveway of the Lexington building with so much finesse that was it damn near impossible to miss the flex of his muscle from his rolled up shirtsleeve. It was 8am in the morning Kyle, why are sleeves rolled up? Iclosed my eyes to push the dirty thoughts away, thoughts of those manly fingers wrapped around my neck with his muscles equally flexing in the process.
“Are you okay?” his voice suddenly panned out while he parked his vehicle and I turned to briefly to face him, his sweet eyes – oh bless him! He didn’t know the thoughts that were running through my head about him just innocently sitting there and gripping the stirring wheel that hard. As if by chance, his eyes drifted to my scalded hands that still burned red and while he grabbed them softly, I winced at his touch and I wasn’t sure if the sudden shiver was from the intensity of his touch or the radiating pain that shot up my arm from the burn.
“What happened to you?” Kyle’s eyes darkened as he took my hand gently in his “Did Shawn – ”
“No” I was quick to let out immediately “Burned myself with coffee, it’s no biggie it’s just a little burn” I tried to pull my hands away but he still held unto them. Suddenly, he took my hands to his lips, placing a soft kiss just slightly on the area and there went the normal rhythm of my heart turning into a crazy mess. How did he manage to ignite such feelings from me in the littlest pssible way. His buttery kiss on my hand had been a thing between us when I told him I never had my wounds kissed as a child by my parents, my mom was dead and my dad was too busy with work and masking his feelings most times to notice any injuries I got as a child.
Kyle had looked at me, his look bordering between pity and genuine love the day it happened. I had accidentally fallen at the mall and scrapped my knee on the hot tarmacwhile I was shopping with Sam that crazy hot afternoon. I remember how soft his lips were, conveying an emotion that his mouth couldn’t explain. I could feel it radiate from his mouth and then unto the fullness of my beingwith my heart instantly bursting. That was exactly how it felt when his lips grazed my hand now, except this time it was tainted with dirty desires that emanated from the dream I woke up from. Did he know that he was invading my dreams without my consent.
“Come on let’s go” Kyle highlighted from the car and I trailed smartly behind him through the cobblestone steps that led into the Lexington building and I was immediately wowed by the aura. We approached the ornate entrance and was greeted by tall marble columns and intricately carved archways that led to the grandeur within.
“This is – wow” I had only seen this building in pictures but being here up close and being greeted by a dazzling display of crystal chandeliers that cast a warm, golden glow over the polished marble floors and plush velvet finishings.
Kyle equally had a cheerful look on his face at the magnificence of the building and when he looked at me, I could only think about one thing – what could have been if things worked out alright. I cast my eyes around the building, imagining myself in a wedding and walking the aisle into a timeless place like this – and even in this wishful thinking Kyle invaded my thoughts still. To my surprise, Kyle took my hands in his as he led me to the main ballroom where the event was most likely going to hold and that was when I heard the repeated shutter of the camera going off at a distant and when I whipped my head around to find the culprit, my eyes fell on nothing but empty vast space and the distracted looks of tourist.
“Did you hear that?” I pulled my hands away from his and shoving it into my pockets, ignoring the strange look on his face. It was a sweet feeling but the last thing I wanted was to be caught holding hands with my boss in public. I strolled away from him further into the ball room, I stood staring intensely at the intricate moldings and frescoes when Kyle came in and stood beside me.
“Do you trust Janine?” his question came in and I bore a strange look. I turned to look at him the same time he turned to me and I shrugged
“I mean – I guess” I said back but he didn’t look satisfied
“Don’t” he added immediately and I raised my brows ready to ask why when a lady dressed in a black pant suit approached with the most plastic smile I had ever seen and a nametag Jessica.
“Here for the view or – ”
Kyle cut in immediately “We need this venue for an event two weeks from now – ”
Jessica already had a slighted look on her face before Kyle could finish his statement “I’m sorry but we’re fully booked even for the next six months” she had the robotic kind of voice that the telecomm guys have.
But Kyle wasn’t going to take no for an answer, not with that conceited and mischievous look he had crowding his eyes “See darling – ” I rolled my eyes at the gesture “My company is hosting the next Banquet dinner in two weeks time and I’m sure you understand what that means” his seductive smile was on full display, and from the looks of it Miss Robotic smile seemed to be enjoying his flirty smile, and just then I saw someone familiar move from the corner of my eyes. I turned swiftly around but I found no one that I could easily recognize, so I turned my attention back to Kyle and Jessica.
Until I saw the familiar movement again and this time when I turned I saw him standing and staring at me – Mr. Venzo and he wasn’t alone.
