53 - FOOLISH GIRL
There were voices around me or so I thought, it was probably my imagination, masculine but speaking in hushed tones. I could feel a dull ache festering at one side of my head while I tried to figure out what was happening to me, where was I? Last I remembered, I had gotten into a fight with Shawn and I had stormed out of the house, I was supposed to meet up with Kyle to plan the banquet dinner and – the memory hit me and terror seized me suddenly as I remembered the figure that grabbed me and placed a sweet smelling handkerchief around my nose.
I blinked in the darkness, trying to make sense of my surrounding but I couldn’t see a thing. I whimpered in fear and stretched out on the cold cemented floor, trying to get to my feet but my hands were tied in front of me and that was when it dawned on me, someone had kidnapped me – I was in danger.
I screamed “Help!” my voice rang in the dead silence that I could hear the echo, my heart beat rose to a frenzy that I feared it might pop out of my chest but instead the echo of my scream rang back at me and eyes began to sting with tears.
I was about to scream again when suddenly a door flung open and somebody walked in, heavy boots hitting the floor and each thud rhymed with the pound of my heart.
“Who’s there?” my voice was shrill and shook with fear but I got no response back, just his loud footsteps until he reached me and lifted my chin up, I wonder how he found my face in this pitch blackness.
“You’re awake huh?” his hands were rough to the smoothness of my own skin and goosebumps rose on my skin from his unwarranted touch. I pulled my face away and then he chuckled. I saw him whip out an mobile phone and took it to his ears
“She’s awake boss”
I could heart the faint voice from the other end from the speak, it was muffled but I could make out the words and the next thing he said “Bring her to me spider”
Spider?
Spider didn’t waste no time before hauling me to my feet amidst my resist “Who are you – let go of me!” I knew it was pointless to protest because I was literally at his mercy and I had no clue to who he or his boss was, it only intensified my fear so I struggled as he tried to drag me to my feet.
“Let go of me!” I screamed and kicked, flailing my hands everywhere until held my leg in pace and threw me over his shoulder like some old sack of potatoes. In that moment, my whimpers died down as I stared down at his ass to his black heavy boots. He smelled like sweat and cigarette smoke, I could see that he sported a buzz cut on his head and he was infact – shirtless.
Spider walked on outside of whatever kind of barn room I was kept and he carried me down a dark corridor, it’s air heavy with cigarette smoke and deep voice mumbling about like in a group discussion.
“Where are you taking me?” I said in fear
“Quiet!” he spat at me and I recoiled. He carried me through another winding corridor, past two men that stood in front of a door and they seemed to nod at each other, some understanding look passing between them.
Finally he stopped at a wooden door rimmed with gold embellish and he knocked twice.
“Come in” a voice boomed from withing and Spider stepped in and pungent smell of liquor instantly hit my nose. The lights were dimmed and I fought to adjust as Spider dropped me on the floor, while there was another man seated on a chair before me, I was yet to see his face, in fact I was scared to lift my eyes from the ground.
“No, pick her up! She’s our guest so we have to treat her nicely, put her on the nice chair and offer her something cold to drink, she must be thirsty” the voice sounded familiar with a thick Russian accent and I couldn’t look because was Spider was picking me off the floor and slamming me on the sofa just opposite, then he cut th zip ties that held my hands together and i massaged my wrist in relief.
That was when I came to face to face with him and I froze – it was Mr. Venzo.
“Surprise surprise” he smiled at me, the kind of smile that bred psychopathy and my arms filled with goosebumps immediately that I shivered in fear.
“What – how –” my words were incoherent as I tried to make sense of the situation but he only smiled at me still.
“You thought you had escaped me didn’t you Miss Aria Thorne, when I said I wanted you to work for me, I meant it and now that offer is still on the table but the question is - are you going to take it willingly or do I have to force you” he said, his eyes fixed on mine and even in the dimness of the room, I could see the evil in his eyes festering and spreading into every body language he possessed and finding a way to intimidate me with them.
“But only now, the rules have changed and you’ll be doing something different” he said and my eyes met the mischievous glint in his eyes and I shuddered. Just then, Spider approached me with a drink and shoved it in my hands.
It was a glass of coke and I looked from the drink to Mr. Venzo, I remembered the last time he offered me a drink and how crazy I acted after that but before I could think of dropping it he spoke.
“Drink up” he said and it wasn’t a request, it was a command and with his hardest eyes, I’ll be foolish to refuse.
“Now!” he wasn’t loud, he didn’t have to be, his voice was laced with poison already.
I looked at the drink, I didn’t want to drink it, there was no way in hell I was going to drink something he offered me after what happened the last time.
“I won’t say it again – or do I have to force you?” he was throwing Spider who stood beside me a knowing look and before he could react I threw the drink on his on impulse – it was foolish act I admit.
Immediately, I sprang up from the chair and darted towards the door, my fingers slightly graced the handle, feeling the iciness of the iron for just barely a second before spider caught up to me and I struggled in his hands.
“Let me out of here!” the words were barely out of my mouth before I felt that handkerchief over my nose again – the pleasantness drifting me off into oblivion
“Foolish girl” I heard Mr. Venzo mutter from behind before I blacked out and honestly – he was right.
