Chapter 32

Tucker’s POV

I was outside Cyn’s classroom waiting for the bell to ring, signaling the end of class. I made some bullshit excuse to my teacher and made my way here. I’m really concerned about Cyn. I don’t trust Josh and I don’t trust Alex. I’ll do what I can to limit her interaction with them. I’m not stupid, I can see exactly what they think when they look at Cyn. Their eyes darkened with lust every time she’s near.
*ding, ding, ding*
The bell finally rang. The door opened suddenly and students began swarming out to head to their next class. Cyn finally walked out and smiled when she saw me. “Hey not-boyfriend.” She teased. I grinned down at her, “hey future ex-wife.”
“You two are disgusting. Drooling all over each other, even without memories you’re still attracted to Tucker.” Helena cuts into our moment rudely.
“That’s not what we were doing.” I denied Helena’s accusations.
“Just remember Tucker, if you touch one hair on my girl’s head, I’ll chop your balls off and feed them to a demon!”
I visibly shuddered at the thought of Helena making good on that threat. It’s just so hard to keep myself from Cyn. Memories or not, she’s still the woman I love. We have remarkable chemistry and I forget that she’s doesn’t remember everything. I’m hoping that Mina can find something to help speed up Cyn’s recovery in getting her memories back.
I tug Cyn’s arm through the crowd of students and make my way to an empty classroom. The door shuts behind her and I see that she’s confused. “What are we doing here Tucker?”
“I just wanted a few moments alone with you. Don’t worry, I don’t expect anything of you, just your presence.” I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and ran my nose against her neck. “You smell so good.” I sighed in her ear.
“We’re going to be late.” She tells me. Cyn hefted her backpack onto her back and moved towards the door. “Cyn.” I called out to her.
She turned her head to look at me, “yeah.”
“I’m here for anything you need. I will always be here for you.” She gives me a large genuine smile, “thanks, Tucker. Seriously.”
She turns back towards the door and exits the room. I plopped down in a desk and let out a breath.
I miss her. I wish that she could remember us. Things weren’t supposed to be like this.
With a growl, I got up and stalked out of the room to head to my next class.

By the time that school ended, I was itching to head home as soon as I found Cyn. I pushed my way through the crowd in the hallway and made my way towards her locker. She was already there by the time I reached it. Her brilliant smile was blinding as she spoke with Helena.
“Hey baby,” I greeted her with a small kiss on her temple. She beamed up at me with a slight blush, “hi, Tucker.”
“You doing anything after school?” I asked her. She played with the ends of her hair while answering, “not really.”
“Let’s hang out for a bit, I won’t pressure you into anything, I promise.”
She gave me a shy smile and a soft nod. “Take care of my girl, Tucker.” Helena threatened.
“Always.” I promised. I grabbed Cyn’s warm hand and led her to my car. After opening the passenger door for her, I scooted over the hood of the car to rush to the driver’s side. Her blonde hair was long and silky, giving her the appearance of a green eyed angel. I itched to run my fingers through her locks but I promised her I wouldn’t push anything.
“Where are we going?” She asked curiously.
“It’s a surprise.” I smiled down at her. She scrunched her nose in distaste as I chuckled. She was absolutely adorable. Just perfect.
As I drove, I watched through my peripheral vision as Cyn stared out the passenger window.
Soon enough we reached my destination. The paintball grounds.
“I don’t know how to play,”she pouted. “Yes, you do, I’ll help you and we’ll go over the rules and how to work the paintball gun. It’s just muscle memory.” I assured her.
I gave her a padded suit to wear and went to go in the men’s room to change. When I met her outside the restrooms, she was dressed with her hair up in a ponytail. I look to her neck and thought about how relieved I am to get the mark removed. We’ll work on her memories. Mina told me to try taking her to familiar places to see if that sparked anything. I felt like the paintball grounds was perfect since it’s where we had our first date.
I closed my eyes to give her a chance to hide. After counting to 30, I opened my eyes and began the hunt. I could simply sniff her out but I don’t want to make the game too difficult on her.
“Unh!” I grunted as I was hit in the back of my shoulder. I see, she wants to be sneaky. I whirl around and catch sight of her ducking behind a barrel. I stalked forward and came up from behind her before shooting her in the butt. “Ow!” She squeaked out.
I gave her my most charming smile before taking off running. I could hear her breathing behind me, trying to hunt me down. I hear a ball whizz past my face as I keep racing forward. Cyn’s breathing becomes a bit labored and I decided to grant mercy and stop. I jumped behind a wall and waited for her to get closer. When she’s in my sight, I target her left leg. “Uh!” She grunted as the ball hit her and paint splattered.
We spend the next hour playing cat and mouse until we finally both collapse on the ground. Her chest rises and falls due to trying to catch her breath. I give her a goofy grin and make her giggle. “This was so much fun!” She squealed as she was able to breathe again.
“I’m glad you had a good time.” I tell her. Cyn stiffens all of a sudden, and her eyes flutter closed. “Cyn? Baby are you okay?” I plead, shaking her shoulders.
Suddenly, her eyes shot open and she sat up. I observed as she looked at my lips and licked her own. “Cyn?” I asked, my voice suddenly deep and husky.
“Yeah?” She questioned, her voice breathy and sweet.
“What happened?” I asked her.
She let out a small breath, “I remember, our first date. We kissed right on this field.” Her cheeks were flushed in embarrassment.
“That’s right baby. But are you okay?” I asked worriedly.
“Yes, I just…want to do it again.” She murmured while staring in my eyes.
I looked down at her while she bites her bottom lip and I have to restrain a groan. “I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“Why not?” She asked, suddenly becoming bold and moving closer. “You don’t know what you’re saying.” I insisted. Her palm came to rest on my chest and she leaned her head on my shoulder. “You’re so good to me.” She whispered.
“I’ll do anything for you.” I told her and I meant it. Cyn was my angel. I wasn’t going to take advantage of her, I respected her too much.
We stayed in the grass with her leaning on my shoulder. Her warmth comforted me and I felt at peace.
“You know, I got another memory last night.” She whispered in my ear seductively. I developed goosebumps on my neck from her breathing. “In this memory we were naked on the grass, we made love all night long. It was the most beautiful memory, I guess I just want to feel what I felt in the memory.” She looked up at me with big doe eyes and I melted in their depth.
“I know baby, I’d love nothing more than for us to make love all night but right now you’re not in the right state of mind. We have the rest of our lives to do it, okay?” I told her as sincerely as I could.
