Chapter 33
Cyn’s POV
I find it easy to believe that Tucker was my boyfriend based on the memories that I’ve remembered. I’m highly attracted to him and he’s remarkably sweet. I find myself also attracted to Josh but I’ve only ever remembered one thing from him. I wonder who I spent most of my time with?
I’m over in Helena’s room in the pack house. She convinced me to pack a bag and move in with her, at least until I remember everything. I finished taking a shower and dressed in a nightgown.
“I’m going to shower, too. See if you can find us some snacks for tv watching.” She called out as she walked into her bathroom. I hopped up and peeked out into the hallway. It was kinda late and I didn’t see anyone. I tiptoed down to the kitchen and flicked the light switch on. I dug in a cabinet and pulled down a package of popcorn. I put it in the microwave and set the timer. My arms were crossed under my breasts as I stood waiting for it to finish.
I suddenly hear the fridge door open. I look over my shoulder to see a male-wolf digging in the fridge. He turned and caught my eyes watching him. “Didn’t mean to disturb you.” He murmured gruffly.
“You didn’t.” I answered him. I stared into his brown eyes. They were unique, like a forest. They were mostly brown with green around his pupil. He had dark black hair that was short on the sides and long on top. He was definitely all man with his trimmed beard and sharp jawline. His shirt was too tight, showing off his arms and hugging every bit of muscle on his abdomen..
“I’m Jace.” He greeted, interrupting my eye-rape. I wasn’t sure if I knew him but based on him introducing himself, I’m assuming we haven’t met.
“I’m Cyn.” I greeted with a small wave.
*beep, beep, beep*
The microwave interrupted our small moment so I turned to get the popcorn out and put it in a bowl.
I got goosebumps on the back of my neck when Jace passed closely behind me to leave the kitchen. I could almost feel his touch from how close he was. I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. With quiet feet, I made my way back to Helena’s room.
I slipped in and sat on the bed to wait for her to get out of the shower.
“Hey, why do you look flushed?” She asked me when she finally got out of the bathroom.
“I do? Oh.” I replied. I was just thinking about Jace’s muscles, the way they rippled under his shirt when he moved.
“By the way…do I know a Jace?” I asked her while licking my dry lips.
“I don’t think so. He’s been here the past couple of days discussing a deal with the alpha. He’s requesting more land for his pack, Red Moon Pack. He’s staying as a guest until the deal goes through. He’s one of the oldest, single alphas. He’s 34 and never been mated, shockingly. Let’s face it, I’d call him daddy, he’s so hot.” Helena gushed.
I stifled a giggle, yes, he’s that hot. “When does the deal go through?” I asked her.
“Not sure, I think it’ll be about a week.” She said. I nodded my head, wondering if I was going to see him again soon.
The next morning, I woke up with Helena snoring next to me. I groaned as I stretched out on the bed, accidentally hitting her in the face. “Fuck off.” She muttered in her sleep.
I got up and got dressed in a dark blue, spaghetti-strap dress with black flats. I flew down the stairs towards the kitchen, hit by a smell of coffee and cinnamon rolls. When I reached the bottom of the stairs right before the kitchen, I suddenly remembered that’s the smell of my mate. I turned on my heel to run back upstairs when I collided with someone.
“Shit!” I grumbled out loud. That person felt like a boulder.
“Good morning to you, too.” A familiar, husky voice said. I looked up into Jace’s eyes and grimaced. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine,” he assured me with a soft smile.
“Well, good morning Cyn.” I hear from behind me, the scent of my mate swirling in my nostrils.
“Alex.” I grunted, disinterested in talking with him.
“Let’s have breakfast and walk to school together.” He suggested.
“No thanks.”
“Come on Cyn, forgive me.”
With a sudden thought, I turned to face my bully. Based on what I’ve remembered about him, I know that I tried to reject him once and he stopped me from doing so. With the words I knew deep in my heart, “I, Cynthia Jackson, reject you, Alex Johnson, as my mate.” I let out a sudden gasp as an intense pain spread through my body, radiating from my center. I could hear Alex gasping and coughing while I fell to my knees in pain.
“Cyn? Hey Cyn?” I hear a distant voice call. I try to open my eyes but all I see is the color of the forest.
“She’s going to be fine, right?” I hear someone say.
“Of course,” a woman answered.
“Thank goodness.” I hear the same first voice. I feel like I know that voice. I focus my energy on opening my eyes and I blink into bright overhead lighting.
“Baby?” I hear a deep voice call. I turn my head to the voice and see Tucker. That’s right, that’s Tucker’s voice.
“Answer me, baby.” He whispered. I tried to speak but ended up whimpering.
“Shhh…it’s okay. The doc said that even though the mark is gone, the bond was still there. When you rejected Alex, the pain was too much and you passed out. Are you feeling okay?” Tucker was calmly talking to me.
“Y-yes.” I croaked out with a dry throat.
Tucker passed me a bottle of water, he always seems to know exactly what I need.
I drank rapidly, water spilling onto my shirt from drinking too much.
He grabbed a napkin and used it to try and clean up my spilled water.
I didn’t spend longer than a few more hours in the infirmary at the pack house. I was discharged by the doctor and went straight to Helena’s room. Tucker had left about an hour ago to run some errands for his grandma.
As soon as I walked in I noticed something was wrong. I sniffed the air and let out a sigh of relief. It’s just Josh.
“What are you doing in Helena’s room?” I asked him.
“Waiting on you Cyn, I’ve been wanting to talk to you.” He said with a crooked smile. His deep blue eyes stared down into my green ones as I answered, “what did you need to talk about that had to be done in person?”
He twiddled his thumbs as he sat down on the edge of Helena’s bed. Where the heck is that girl anyway?
Josh’s anxiousness was palpable. He hesitated before he began, “I know things are a little crazy between us right now, I just wanted to let you know that I’m here for you. No matter what.”
“I appreciate that, but you didn’t need to come here just to say it. Was there anything else?” I asked him. He shook his head lightly, his bangs swiping his eyebrows. “No. That’s it. I’ll see you at school, okay?” He said with a slight nod before he made his way to the window and leapt out. I rushed to the window in time to see him running across the lawn and to the forest.
I saw the male wolves training on my right. I noticed that Jace was out there with the warriors. He was shirtless, sweat dripping all down his muscles.
His tanned skin was covered in tattoos that I wanted to take time to examine. He ran his fingers through his hair, mussing it up which only increased his attractiveness.
He stops and sniffs the air before his eyes zoom in on me. His gaze was so heated that I felt like I would melt. I’ve never seen myself being attracted to an older man but Jace wasn’t a normal man. He was stupidly attractive but also carried himself in a mature fashion. He was the body of a god with the mind of a scholar.
I gave him a smile that I hoped looked genuine. I licked my lips and stared right back at him. Our gazes never left each other. All I could think is, hello daddy.
