Chapter 35
Cyn’s POV
Josh pulled away, leaving me cold. “Don’t you want me?” I asked him.
He turned around with a crazed look in his eyes, “Cyn, I love you, there’s no one I would ever want more. You’re it for me. That’s why I need to do this right. I lost you once, I won’t mess up again.”
He loves me?
I looked at him, unsure what to say. A hard expression hit his eyes and he walked away. Fuck, I’m messing this up. Why can’t I just get all my memories already?
I sent a text to Mina, asking her how her progress has gone? Last we spoke, she was gathering some ingredients so I’m assuming she found a spell that may work.
Me: any word?
Mina: was actually going to call you in a bit. Where are you?
I looked around the unfamiliar house and at the unfamiliar faces. I barely recognize anyone. What happened to Helena?
Me: leaving a party. Will be at the pack house in 5 minutes
Mina: I’ll see you there
I took off walking down the pavement to the pack house. When I arrived, it was disturbingly quiet. Everyone is probably still at the party, it’s only 9pm.
Mina walked through a portal she must’ve opened in the living room. “This is perfect timing. I’ve got it.”
Does she mean what I think she means?
I wait patiently for her to continue. “Drink this, when you wake in the morning, you should have your memories back.”
“That’s it?” I asked skeptically.
“Yup. That’s it. Now if you don’t mind, I’ve completed my tasks for Tucker. He and I are even. Nice to meet you Cyn.”
“Goodbye, Mina.” I whispered as she went through the portal and sealed it.
I looked at the green bottle she gave me. I don’t think she has any reason to hate me, so this should be safe to drink. I pinched my nose and swallowed the liquid as quickly as I could. By the time I finished, I was gasping. Fuck, that was nasty.
I looked at my phone and it was only 9:15pm. When I wake up, I’ll have my memories again. It almost sounds too good to be true.
With excitement, I rush upstairs and run straight into a wall. “Fuck!” I grumbled out loud while rubbing my forehead. I looked up to see Jace looking down at me.
“What are you doing?” I asked him.
“Nothing, why aren’t you at the party?” He asked me in return.
“I already left. I’m heading to bed.” I tell him as I go around his large frame.
“Goodnight, Cyn.” He tells me with a delicious sound in his throat.
“Goodnight, Jace.” I tell him. When I turned around Alex was standing right there.
“Jesus!” I exclaimed in fright.
“Are you two fucking?” He asked me as he gripped my arm.
“No, you’re nuts! Let me go!”
“I think not, I think it’s been awhile since we’ve been acquainted with each other. Some time alone should do us some good, right?” He asked cheekily.
Alarms were blaring from within and I knew I shouldn’t follow him.
“Maybe tomorrow,” I tried to appease him.
“Hm, tomorrow, I’ll hold you to it. We’ll go on a date.” He decided without even asking me. I can’t go on a date with this man.
“That’s not a good idea.” I tried to tell him.
“It’s either you come with me now or we go on a date tomorrow. Your choice.”
I decided to go with the lesser of two evils, “okay, we’ll go on a date.”
His face lit up and he released his hold on my arm. “7pm, dress casual. A dress would be best though.”
“Okay,” I tell him as I race up the rest of the stairs and into Helena’s room.
I couldn’t wait to have my memories back.
I’m in a forest running, from what? I can’t remember. My pace quickened as my attacker gained on me. My pulse beat erratically and I could feel each hard thud of my heart in my chest.
“Cyn, baby, don’t run from me,” the voice cooed. Alex. A disgusted shudder ran through my body as I kept running.
I ran out of breath and found a tree to hide behind. My chest heaved up and down from exertion as I tried to still my breathing.
“Come out Cynthia! I know you’re there!” He growled out. His voice was so close, I knew I was about to be caught. I closed my eyes as tears ran down my cheeks and prepared for my doom.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” I hear Alex yell. I gasped and peeked around the tree. A tall male was standing in front of Alex. Is that blonde hair or brown hair? I couldn’t tell in the darkness. The male slowly stalked towards Alex until they were face to face and then he threw a punch. Alex went falling to the ground hard. The male punched him over and over and over until he was unmoving. He turned to face me and I squinted to try and see who it was. Are those blue eyes, or hazel eyes? Who is my savior?
He turned and walked off, leaving me alone in the forest with a passed out Alex. Well, passed out or dead, I didn’t want to get close enough to check. I scurried after him and grabbed his arm, turning him around.
*beep, beep, beep*
“This fucking alarm, always interrupts that dream.” I muttered as I turned the obnoxious thing off. As I sat there foggy-headed, Helena continued snoring away. After yawning and stretching for a minute I was hit with a thought.
*my memories*
“Helena!” I screamed loudly.
“What the fuck?” She groaned.
“I got my memories back!” I jumped up and down on the bed, beyond ecstatic.
“No shit?!” She asked.
I grinned down at her and continued jumping until she ended up kicking me off the bed.
My biggest issue now is deciding which problem to deal with first, Tucker or Josh? I need to apologize to Tucker, I wish I held on hope that he’d return. As far as Josh goes, I’m ashamed I kept pushing him to be physical with me. Now that I have my memories again, I understand why he turned me down.
I got dressed in a hurry and ran downstairs to the kitchen to grab some coffee. As I’m pouring a cup, I feel a presence behind me. I turn to find Alex standing there, a little too close for comfort. “Don’t forget about our date.” He whispered.
“How could I forget?” I muttered.
“Don’t forget to wear a dress.” He called out as he walked past me. I decided I wanted to get out of the pack house for a bit. I hit the back porch quickly and ran to the tree line, stripping as I ran. I shifted mid-run and took off into the woods.
I ran my usual path, and before I knew it, I ended up in Josh and mine’s spot. I shifted back and dove into the water. I floated for a bit before I was hit with a splash of water. I looked up and immediately turned red. Jace was standing there in the water. Did he follow me? I bit my lip in nervousness.
Shit, I’m completely naked. I tried my best to cover my bits but wasn’t having much success.
I decided just to shift back and take off towards the pack house, my clothes should still be there at the tree line.
I looked behind me to see if Jace followed me but he didn’t. Relieved, I shifted and dressed before heading back inside.
