Heavy Shoulder
Becky's P.O.V
My shoulders hurt a lot because I was feeling very tense. I was so upset that I had my fists squeezed tightly together, and my knuckles were turning white from the pressure. A group of about twelve guards approached me, and they looked very serious and unfriendly.
Their faces were stern, and I could see in their expressions that they really didn't like me at all. It was a feeling that went deep into my bones, making me feel even more anxious.
Standing behind the guards was Beta Brian, and he looked extremely angry. His face was all scrunched up in a sneer, which showed just how furious he really was.
"Move out of the way, Becky!" he shouted loudly, his voice sharp and cold like pieces of broken ice. "You're going to feel sorry for what you have done."
"What have I done?" I asked, trying really hard to keep my voice calm and steady, even though I was feeling a lot of fear inside me. "Do you really believe that I poisoned Karl?"
"Absolutely, of course!" he shouted with intense anger, and I could feel his rage in the air as he moved closer to me. "Do you really believe that I can’t see through your false front?
Ever since you arrived here, it seems like causing trouble and ruining everything around you has become a normal thing for a wolf who has been turned away and rejected like you!"
"Be quiet!" I shouted, the words bursting out of my mouth before I had a chance to hold them back. My anger felt intense and overwhelming, almost like a fire inside me, ignited by the painful memory of how Karl had rejected me and the ongoing pressure I felt to show everyone that I was worth something.
I refused to allow him, or anyone else for that matter, to make me feel small or less important than I was. "You really don’t know anything about who I am!"
"Are you serious?" Brian said with a mocking tone, as he stood very close to me, just a short distance away. I could see his hand forming into a tight fist.
"I bet that you actually understand quite a bit about what it means to be nothing at all. What could a young girl like you possibly understand about things like power or loyalty?"
My blood was practically boiling with anger. I decided that I would no longer allow my past experiences to control who I am as a person.
The painful memories of being rejected lingered in my mind like a dark shadow, but I had worked really hard to let go of those feelings.
"Even though I might not have a protective wolf by my side, I have made up my mind to stop letting myself be afraid of noisy bullies like you!"
Before I had a chance to think about what I was doing, my fist suddenly shot forward with surprising speed and force, hitting Brian right on his jaw.
The sound of his bone cracking was loud and clear, cutting through the stillness that surrounded us, and he immediately collapsed to the ground.
The expression on his face changed from anger to one of total shock. Meanwhile, the guards stood frozen in place, their faces showing a mix of astonishment and disbelief at what they had just witnessed.
"Wake up, Brian!" shouted one of the people, taking a step closer. "Don't allow her to—”
"No! Please, everyone, listen to me and back off!" Brian shouted, his hand gripping his jaw in pain as he fought to get back up onto his feet.
Anger burned fiercely in his eyes, making it clear just how upset he was. "You are all going to wish you hadn't done what you just did. I command you to capture her!"
My heart was racing really fast as the guards walked closer to me, and at first, I felt afraid. However, that fear quickly turned into a strong feeling of determination.
I firmly planted my feet on the ground, tapping into the strength that I had been building up ever since I arrived at Ravensong. This was the strength I had learned to depend on during my time here.
With a steady voice that was both low and powerful, I boldly challenged them, saying, "Go ahead and try it. What do you think I am? Just some weak girl who can’t defend herself? No one gets to touch me here without facing a fight first."
I could hear the quiet whispers of their voices behind Brian. They sounded unsure and a little bit afraid. Ever since I got here, they had noticed that I had changed in some way.
They could feel the strength and power inside me, just waiting to come out. But I didn’t have the luxury of thinking too much about how they felt or what they were saying. I needed to be strong and hold my position firmly.
"Becky!" a loud voice shouted, breaking the uneasy silence that had settled in the room. Suddenly, the door flew open with a bang, and Alpha Rian walked in confidently.
His strong and commanding presence filled the entire space, making it impossible to ignore him. He looked around with his intense and focused gaze, taking in everything happening in the room. "Can someone please tell me what is happening here?" he demanded.
Brian, who still looked like he was feeling sorry for himself even with his bruised jaw, took a step closer. He shouted,
"Alpha! You have to listen! She was the one who attacked me for no reason at all! It's her fault that Karl got poisoned! This is completely unfair and outrageous!"
"That's enough, Brian," Rian said firmly, making it clear that he did not want to hear any objections. Then, he turned his attention to me, and for just a brief moment, his expression softened a little. "I assume your name is Becky? Can you please tell me what happened?"
"I want to make it very clear that I did not poison him," I said, feeling my heart racing in my chest, yet trying to keep my voice steady and strong.
