You are not the most experienced wolf
I woke up with a sense of purpose, my heart racing with anticipation. I had to find Jake, had to ask him about getting stronger and finding my wolf. I threw off the covers and got out of bed, quickly getting dressed in the dim light of dawn.
I searched the communal area, but Jake was nowhere to be found. I asked around, but no one had seen him. I knew he liked to spend time alone, so I decided to check his favorite spot, the old oak tree on the outskirts of the pack's territory.
As I approached the tree, I saw Jake sitting at the base, his eyes closed as if meditating. I cleared my throat to announce my presence, and he opened his eyes, looking up at me with a hint of curiosity.
"Hey, Becky. What brings you here so early?" he asked, his voice low and smooth.
I took a deep breath, my determination evident in my voice. "I need to get stronger, Jake. I need to find my wolf. I feel like I'm stuck, like there's something missing inside me. Can you help me?"
Jake's expression turned serious, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Getting stronger isn't just about physical power, Becky. It's about control, discipline...and risk. Are you sure you're ready for this?"
I nodded, my jaw set. "I'm positive. I need to do this, Jake. Please, help me."
Jake sighed, looking away for a moment before focusing on me again. "There's a legend about a hidden wolf, a wolf with great physical and supernatural powers. They call it the Lunar Guardian."
My heart skipped a beat. "That sounds amazing! If I can find it, it could help me find my wolf, right?"
Jake's expression turned cautious. "Becky, the Lunar Guardian hasn't been seen for decades. Some say it's just a myth, a legend created to inspire hope in our kind."
But I was undeterred. I felt a spark of excitement ignite within me, and I knew I had to pursue it. "I don't care if it's a myth or not, Jake. I have to try. Will you come with me?"
Jake hesitated, clearly reluctant. "Becky, I don't know...this is a wild goose chase. We could be putting ourselves in danger."
But I could see the faintest glimmer of curiosity in his eyes, and I knew I had him. "Please, Jake. I need your help. Let's do this together."
Jake sighed, rubbing his temples as if trying to ward off a headache. "Fine, Becky. But if we're going to do this, we need to be smart about it. We'll need to gather information, talk to the elders, see if anyone has any leads on the Lunar Guardian's whereabouts."
I nodded eagerly, my mind racing with possibilities. "I'll start asking around, see what I can find out. But Jake, I have to ask, what makes you think this wolf is even real?"
Jake's expression turned thoughtful. "I've heard stories from my grandfather, who heard them from his grandfather. They spoke of a wolf with eyes like the moon, a wolf that could run faster than the wind and possess the power to heal even the most grievous wounds."
I felt a shiver run down my spine. "That sounds incredible. But what if it's just a myth, like you said?"
Jake shrugged. "Then we'll know we tried. But what if it's not? What if the Lunar Guardian is out there, waiting for us to find it?"
I grinned, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. "Then let's go find it."
We spent the rest of the day gathering information, talking to the pack's elders and scouring the archives for any mention of the Lunar Guardian. It wasn't easy, and we encountered more than a few skeptical looks, but I could tell Jake was starting to get caught up in the excitement of the hunt.
As the sun began to set, we sat down together, poring over a dusty old map that supposedly led to the Lunar Guardian's last known location.
"Are you sure you're ready for this, Becky?" Jake asked, his eyes serious.
I nodded, my heart pounding with anticipation. "I was born ready, Jake. Let's do this."
With the map spread out before us, we pored over the yellowed parchment, tracing the winding path that supposedly led to the Lunar Guardian. The route took us deep into the heart of the forest, where the trees grew tall and the underbrush thick.
"We'll need to be careful," Jake said, his brow furrowed in concern. "This part of the forest is treacherous, even for wolves. We don't know what we'll be up against."
I nodded, my mind racing with possibilities. "I've got my senses, and I've got you. We'll be fine."
Jake shot me a wry glance. "You're not exactly the most experienced wolf, Becky."
I bristled, feeling a surge of defensiveness. "Hey, I can handle myself. And besides, I've got you to watch my back."
Jake's expression softened, and he reached out to ruffle my hair. "I'll always have your back, Becky. Let's get moving."
We set off, following the winding path as it led us deeper into the forest. The trees grew taller, casting long shadows that stretched and twisted in the fading light. I could feel the weight of the forest's gaze upon us, the ancient magic that pulsed through the trees like a heartbeat.
As night began to fall, we found a clearing, a small glade surrounded by a ring of mushrooms. In the center of the clearing stood an enormous stone, covered in moss and lichen.
"This is it," Jake whispered, his eyes shining with excitement. "This is where the map leads."
I approached the stone, feeling a strange energy emanating from it. As I reached out to touch the moss, the air around us seemed to shift, the trees leaning in as if to listen.
And then, a low rumble, like thunder in the distance. But the sky was clear, the stars shining bright overhead.
"What was that?" I whispered, my heart racing.
Jake's eyes locked onto mine, his expression grim. "I think we're about to find out."
