Their goal
Jake's P.O.V
Becky who was always so gentle and kind had become the target of the greed and ambition of other people. Just thinking about it sent a chill down my spine and filled me with dread.
“They might view the situation as a threat.” my father continued to explain.
“Or they could see it as an opportunity for themselves. Take the Bloodmoon pack and their leader Alpha Karl for example. His engagement to Luna Jessy is not just a random decision it has a clear purpose behind it Jake. There are whispers and rumors going around that Luna Jessy has her own goals and ambitions that could serve her well. Now think about the possibilities that come with someone like Becky who has the potential to be a Whitewolf. This situation can be very appealing to other Alphas especially those who might be considered weak and looking to form alliances. They want to strengthen their own packs and having someone like Becky with her unique powers could be a valuable asset for them. So you can be sure they will try to find ways to use her talents to benefit themselves.”
“But Karl refused to accept her when she was not accompanied by her wolf. He showed no concern or consideration for her feelings at all.”
“He is currently engaged to a woman named Luna Jessy. Together they make a very dangerous pair Jake. We really don't have any idea what their true intentions are. However it is clear that whatever their plans may be it is definitely not a good thing for Ravensong.”
My anger started to rise quickly. I couldn't help but think about Becky. “What about her? Has anyone stopped to think about how this situation will affect her and her feelings?”
“We are going to keep her safe Jake.” he said speaking with a strong and steady voice. “I want you to know that this is a promise I am making to you. However you need to get ready for what is ahead. This is not going to be simple or straightforward. The other Alphas will start to approach us and each one of them will have their own goals and intentions. So get ready to join me as we try to make our way through this difficult and dangerous journey Jake.”
“Are you saying that I need to get ready?” I asked feeling shocked and surprised by what I heard.
The heavy burden of responsibility felt like it was pressing down on me making it hard to breathe and think clearly.
“Yes Jake. It is important that we get ready for discussions where we will negotiate our terms. We also need to think about forming partnerships or alliances with others who might support us. Additionally we should be prepared for the possibility of facing conflicts or confrontations that could arise.”
My thoughts were moving quickly and I was struggling to understand everything that was happening. There was the meeting that just took place along with the feeling of danger that seemed to be hiding in the background.
Above all there was a sense of uncertainty that loomed over everything almost like a heavy blanket covering the situation. I was aware that nobody could make Becky do something against her will no matter how hard they might try.
However I had a strong feeling that they would definitely make an effort to pressure her into doing things she didn't want to do. I understood that much clearly.
“What should we do now?” I asked making an effort to prevent any panic from showing in my voice.
“We are waiting right now Jake. We are also getting everything ready.” he said as he looked at me intently.
“What we are doing is collecting information and making sure we are ready for the worst possible situation that could happen. Our main priority is to keep Becky safe. I really admire how loyal you are to her Jake and I want you to know that. However we really need to think about all the different options we have available. Sometimes this might mean that we have to make some tough decisions.”
The weight of everything happening around me felt overwhelming like a heavy burden that was pressing down on me making it hard to breathe.
Becky who had finally discovered a sense of peace and comfort in Ravensong and had also found her wolf was now trapped in a perilous situation being used like a piece in a dangerous game. We as part of Ravensong found ourselves right in the center of this troubling situation.
The dinner we were having with the delicious food and the soft glow of the candlelight all seemed to blend into a dull and unimportant background.
My thoughts were consumed by the worry of the storm that was about to come. I could hear my father's voice ringing clearly in my mind telling me to get ready for what was ahead.
I got to my feet feeling more determined than ever. I looked at my father and said “Yes I will do it Father. I promise that I will get ready.”
As I walked out of the dining hall my head was filled with a storm of feelings. I was feeling fear a deep anger and a strong determination all mixed up together.
I realized that I needed to find Becky as soon as possible. It was really important for me to reassure her to make sure she understood that I would do everything in my power to protect her.
I was ready to fight for her to fight for our home Ravensong and to defend the fragile peace that we had managed to create. I could feel my wolf stirring inside me a low growl beginning to rumble deep within my chest because it sensed that danger was getting close.
Becky who had transformed into a white wolf was now under our care and protection and I knew that it was our responsibility to keep her safe.
The idea of all the Alphas showing up at Ravensong filled me with a deep sense of unease that twisted my stomach into knots. It was not just a little risky it was extremely dangerous and incredibly reckless.
In fact it was downright crazy to think about. I couldn’t shake the feeling that the other Alphas would be drawn to Becky like hungry hyenas looking for a meal. They would all come creeping around her trying to get something from her.
Their goal would be to control her and use her for their own gain taking advantage of her in whatever way they could. But I made a promise to myself that I would not let that happen. I wouldn’t allow them to take advantage of her as long as I was there to protect her…
