Hidden in the darkness

Unknown’s pov
I watched from the shadows as Becky fell to the ground, the Lunar Guardian's power fading from her consciousness. I had been waiting for this moment for so long, and now that it was finally here, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and trepidation.

I turned to the figure beside me, a hooded individual who had been waiting just as eagerly as I had. "It's done," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "Becky is the Lunar Guardian."

The figure nodded, its face hidden in the darkness. "Excellent," it said, its voice low and menacing. "With this information, we can finally put our plan into action."

I nodded, a sense of unease growing in my stomach. I had never intended for things to go this far, but now that I was in, I couldn't back out. I had to see this through to the end.

"What's the next step?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

The figure smiled, its eyes glinting in the moonlight. "We'll let Becky think she's won," it said. "We'll let her think she's safe. But then, we'll strike. We'll take her down and claim the Lunar Guardian's power for ourselves."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized the true extent of our plan. We weren't just going to stop Becky - we were going to destroy her. And I was a part of it.

As I stood there, frozen in unease, the hooded figure turned to leave. "Come," it said. "We have much to prepare before we strike."

I followed, my heart heavy with foreboding. We made our way through the shadows, avoiding detection by the Moonlight pack. Finally, we arrived at the outskirts of our own territory, the Shadow Clan pack.

The figure pushed back its hood, revealing a shocking face - Nathan, a high-ranking member of the Shadow Clan. I had never suspected him of being involved in this plot.

"Welcome, Kael," Nathan said, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "You have played a crucial role in our plan. Now, let us prepare for the final act."

I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized the true extent of Nathan's plan. We were going to destroy Becky, and I was a part of it.

Nathan led me to a secret gathering of Shadow Clan members, all of whom seemed to be in on the plot. I recognized some of them, but others were strangers to me.

"Brothers and sisters," Nathan began, his voice low and menacing. "The time has come to claim the power of the Lunar Guardian. We have waited long enough."

The group erupted in a chorus of growls and snarls, their eyes gleaming with excitement. I felt a surge of fear, knowing that I was now a part of this sinister plan.

Nathan’s pov
I stood before the Council in the Silverfang den, a sly smile spreading across my face. "Becky, the young wolf who has become the new Lunar Guardian, is now a target for us," I announced, my voice steady.

The Council's eyes lit up with interest, and Elder Thorne spoke up, "Ah, yes. Becky. Karl's mate. We had thought her to be of no consequence, but now...she is a powered asset."

Elder Raven nodded in agreement. "We must bring her back to the Silverfang pack. She will be a valuable addition to our pack."

I nodded, my plan unfolding perfectly. "I have already set things in motion. I will send a messenger to inform her of our...interest in her return."

The Council nodded, and I could sense their excitement. They had no idea that I had been manipulating events from the beginning, using their desire for power to further my own goals.

I left the den, a messenger wolf by my side. "Tell Becky that the Silverfang pack wishes for her to return," I instructed. "Tell her that we will welcome her with open arms, and that she will be valued as a member of our pack."

The messenger nodded and took off, leaving me to my thoughts. My plan was working perfectly. Becky would come to us willingly, thinking she had found a new home, and then...we would strike.

I smiled to myself, feeling a sense of triumph. This was going to be easier than I had thought.

Becky's pov
I slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was in my room in the Ravensong pack's den. A moment later, a commotion outside my room caught my attention. A wolf sneakily entered my room and I recognized him instantly. A messenger from the Silverfang pack, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on me.

"Becky," he said, his voice formal. "The Silverfang pack requests your presence. They wish for you to return to their pack."

“What are you doing here?”

I glared at the messenger, my hackles rising. "Tell them I'm not interested," I growled.

The messenger took a step back, his eyes widening. "I-I was told to inform you that they will welcome you with open arms," he stuttered.

I snarled, my teeth bared. "Tell them if they come near me again, I'll rip their arms off."

The messenger yelped and backed away, tripping over his own paws in his haste to escape.

I watched him go, my mind racing with questions. What did the Silverfang pack want with me? And why now? I didn't have time to ponder the questions for long, as I heard the sound of footsteps approaching. Who could it be?

Becky's pov
"Becky, are you okay? I heard a commotion coming from your room," Jake asked, concern etched on his face.

I forced a smile, trying to appear nonchalant. "I'm fine, Jake. Just a minor disagreement with a pack member. Nothing to worry about."

Jake's eyes narrowed slightly, but he seemed to accept my explanation. "Okay, if you're sure...I was worried sick about you."

I felt a pang of guilt for lying to him, but I couldn't let him know about the Silverfang pack's message. Not yet, at least. I needed time to process and figure out my next move.

"Thanks, Jake. I appreciate it," I said, trying to sound sincere.

Jake nodded and turned to leave, but I could sense his unease. He knew me too well, and I wondered how long I could keep this secret from him.

As soon as Jake left, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched. I looked around the room, but there was no one there. The messenger's words echoed in my mind: "We'll welcome you with open arms..." I shivered, despite the warmth of the room. What did they really want from me?

Karl's pov

I sat in my father's den, listening to his words with a mix of emotions. He told me about Becky's newfound power and how she was now with the Ravensong pack permanently. I felt a pang of jealousy and possessiveness, but it was quickly overshadowed by a deeper feeling - longing.

I missed her. I missed her smile, her laughter, and her fierce spirit. I missed the way she made me feel, like I was home.

My father's words brought me back to reality. "Karl, I need you to go to the Ravensong pack and bring Becky back. She's too powerful to be left alone, and we can't afford to lose her."

I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "Why should I, father? She made it clear she doesn't want anything to do with me and you banished her, remember?”.

My father's expression softened. "I know, son. But I also know you care for her deeply. Take as much time as you need, but make sure she's with you when you return. We need her, Karl."

I sighed, feeling a weight settle on my shoulders. I didn't want to do this for my father or the pack. I wanted to do this for me, for us. I wanted to win her forgiveness and prove myself to her.

"Fine," I said finally. "I'll go to the Ravensong pack and bring Becky back. But not for the pack, father. For me. I need to make things right between us."

My father nodded, a small smile on his face. "I knew I could count on you, Karl. Bring her home."

Becky's pov

I walked into the pack's dinner hall, expecting a quiet evening with my new friends. But what I saw made my heart skip a beat. Karl was sitting at the table, laughing and chatting with Jake and his father. I felt like I'd been punched in the gut.

Jake caught my eye and smiled, oblivious to the turmoil inside me. "Becky, come meet Karl! He's an old friend, Alpha of the Silverfang pack."

I forced a smile, trying to play it cool. "Nice to meet you, Karl," I said, extending my hand as if we'd never met before.

Karl's eyes locked onto mine, and for a moment, I saw a flicker of recognition. But then, his expression smoothed out, and he took my hand in a firm handshake. "Likewise, Becky. Welcome to the Ravensong pack."

The rest of the dinner was a blur. I went through the motions, trying to avoid eye contact with Karl. But when the meal ended, he managed to catch me alone.

"Becky, can I talk to you for a minute?" he asked, his voice low and husky.

I hesitated, but my feet seemed rooted to the spot. "What is it, Karl?"

He took a step closer, his eyes burning with intensity. "I know I messed up, Becky. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to win you back. I'll earn your forgiveness, no matter how long it takes."

My heart raced as I felt the mate bond between us stir, a bond we'd never broken. I tried to push it away, but it only seemed to grow stronger.

"No, Karl," I spat, trying to keep my voice down. "You had your chance, and you blew it. I'm not going back to you."

Karl's face fell, but he didn't back down. "I'll change your mind, Becky. I promise."

I stomped off, angry and frustrated, trying to shake off the lingering connection between us. But I knew it wouldn't be easy. The mate bond still lingered, a constant reminder of what we once had.
