Becky's P.O.V

As I observed Alex gradually walking toward us I started to feel a tiny spark of hope beginning to blossom inside me.

With every careful and uncertain step he took it was clear that he was experiencing a lot of pain which made me remember just how much force had propelled him out of the window earlier.

It was a painful reminder of the intensity of the incident that had happened before.

“I wanted to see her power” he said in a quiet voice and my heart felt like it was sinking even further when I heard those words. I understood that there was a deep meaning behind what he had done.

“I wanted to know what she could do” he added revealing the reason for his actions.

“That is precisely the issue we are facing!” Rian exclaimed loudly unable to contain his frustration any longer.

His words burst forth with intense emotion almost like a volcano blowing its top filling the air with an undeniable heat that added to the already tense situation.

“I specifically told you not to pressure her Alex. This whole situation is a result of your actions!”

The heaviness of the accusations that were directed at me felt like a great weight pressing down on my shoulders.

I could sense that the solid ground I was standing on was starting to break apart and tremble making it seem as though everything around me was falling to pieces.

It was as if the entire world was coming undone right in front of my eyes.

As I stood there unable to move a wave of panic washed over me. It felt so strong that I thought I might not be able to handle it.

I found myself pleading with all my heart saying “I'm really sorry! I had no idea that I was capable of doing something like that! I truly didn't mean to hurt anyone at all!” My voice shook because I was feeling so many emotions at once.

All I could do was hope that the people around me would see the truth in what I was saying and understand how I really felt inside.

Ron moved a little closer to me and as he did there was a powerful energy in his presence that made my heart beat faster inside my chest.

It was as if the atmosphere around us was heavy with an unspoken feeling charged with thoughts and emotions that we weren’t expressing out loud.

These unsaid feelings felt like a storm that was just waiting to burst forth creating a sense of anticipation in the air around us.

I took a deep breath and got myself prepared to deal with any hurtful or unkind things he might say to me. I was ready to stand up for myself and explain my side of the situation if I needed to.

Just when I started to feel really anxious and felt the pressure of the argument starting to build up around me Jake who is always there for me and supports me no matter what jumped in to protect me and speak up on my behalf.

His eyes narrowed as he glared at Ron with a fierce intensity that was hard to miss. “Back off” he growled. “She’s not a threat she’s one of us. If you can’t understand that then maybe you don’t really belong here at all.”

His words were powerful and confident but the urgent tone in his voice did little to lessen the tight knot of anxiety that was building up inside my chest.

“Stop. That’s enough.” Rian's voice was calm and strong cutting through the thick tension that hung in the air around us like a heavy blanket of fog.

“Jake please take Alex and walk him to the infirmary. We need to make sure that he is alright and that he gets the care he might need.”

Jake stopped for a little while looking like he was really struggling with his strong feelings of loyalty to me and his duty to make sure that Alex was okay.

He took a deep breath and let it out slowly which showed that he was thinking hard about what to do. Then after a moment of consideration he decided to give in to the situation that was clearly very serious.

“Alright let’s go. Come on Alex” he said at last his voice gentler than before and almost a bit hesitant as he turned his attention towards Alex.

Alex nodded his head slowly looking very pale and a bit dazed as if he was in a trance. He had to lean against Jake to keep himself steady and to gain some support.

Together the two of them started to walk toward the exit of the place. However Ron was right behind them following closely. You could really sense his frustration and anger it felt like a violent storm was building just under the surface of his calm exterior.

I could feel Ron’s gaze burning into my back like a sharp reminder of the argument that had just happened a few moments ago.

As soon as the three people were no longer visible Rian turned around to look at me. I noticed that his serious face showed a hint of worry this time.

He said “Becky I really need you to understand something very important.” He spoke in a softer tone and I could tell he was being sincere.

“The abilities that you have are not just strong they can also be very very dangerous. Right now you do not have the skills to manage or control them properly.”

As I listened to what he was saying I felt a strong wave of hopelessness and urgency wash over me. Each of his words felt very important and heavy with meaning.

I found myself saying “I promise” and I put all my heart into it hoping he could see how sincere I was. My voice shook a little because my feelings were so intense.

I continued “I will make sure to learn. I really promise that I will do anything and everything I need to do in order to understand this to learn how to manage it and keep it under control. I never meant for things to get out of hand—I didn’t want any of this to happen.”
