Special one
Becky's P.O.V
“You really need to relax! If you are too stiff and tense then you are going to be an easy target for me.” he said staying light on his feet and bouncing around a bit while he spoke.
I let out a little laugh with a bit of frustration. “Are you actually trying to say that I’m stiff? Well if that’s what you think then I will show you what stiff really looks like!”
I said as I playfully threw a quick punch in his direction as a friendly challenge.
Jake skillfully avoided my move and his joyful laughter filled the air while we kept going. The steady beat of our training soon changed into something greater than just a simple practice session.
There was a fun and lively energy that hung in the space between us and he matched my pace effortlessly as we continued.
With a smile on his face he said “You know for someone who is just beginning their training journey you actually have a pretty strong punch.” His tone was full of admiration making it clear he was genuinely impressed.
As I rolled my eyes in a somewhat playful manner attempting to dismiss Jake's flattering comments I quietly said under my breath “I appreciate what you're saying but honestly I’m far from being a professional.”
He let out a laugh and it was obvious that he was really out of breath from our sparring session.
“You know you really could become a great fighter if you keep practicing like this. Just think about it—Becky the Brawler! That sounds pretty impressive doesn’t it?”
As I tried to attack him he quickly moved to the side avoiding my move. Then he stepped closer to me so that our faces were just a few inches apart.
A warm feeling quickly spread across my cheeks and for just a brief moment I lost my concentration completely almost forgetting the reason why we were here in the first place.
I took a deep breath and turned to Jake trying to make him understand how important this was to me.
“Jake this isn’t a joke at all. I am really serious about wanting to train” I said my voice coming out a bit shaky and breathless.
“I feel the same way! But let’s be honest there’s definitely a special connection or chemistry between the two of us. You really can’t deny that fact.”
His eyes were shining with playful energy and when he leaned in closer to me I felt a warm feeling spread in my chest.
This warmth made me forget about all my concerns and worries for a moment.
The truth of the situation hit me all at once. I felt the heavy burden of Rian's words and the serious danger posed by Jessy. I looked at Jake and said firmly
“Jake you need to stop.” I shook my head trying to create some distance between us so I could steady myself and gather my thoughts.
“Right now I’m just not ready for a relationship or whatever it is we're doing. I really need to concentrate on my training and improve my skills.”
Before he had the chance to say anything or respond to me a loud and powerful noise came from a cannon that was fired nearby.
The sudden sound seemed to stop everything in the world around us. I turned to him and asked “What was that?”
My heart was beating very fast and I could feel a wave of nervousness and fear flooding over me. I couldn't help but remember the warning that Rian had given me earlier.
“It could only mean one thing—the visitors have arrived!” Jake shouted with a burst of excitement that was easy to feel.
He eagerly took hold of my arm and began to run urging me along as we made our way toward the pack house. As we ran I could hear the distant sound of voices chatting and laughing and with each step that sound got louder.
It helped remove some of the tension that had been hanging in the air earlier.
As soon as we walked through the entrance I noticed that there was already a large group of people crowded together near the front of the room.
The sound of many conversations filled the air creating a lively atmosphere and I could feel a sense of excitement and anticipation all around us. My stomach began to turn in a nervous way as I spotted two important figures who stepped into view.
One of them was Alpha Alex who was very tall and had a strong presence that commanded attention. Beside him was his Beta Ron who was also quite imposing and seemed to add to the tension in the room.
As I looked closely I felt a familiar feeling of unease wash over me when I caught sight of the way Alex was looking at me. His gaze held a complex mix of curiosity and a hint of fear that seemed to send a shiver down my spine.
“Hello and welcome members of the Ravensong Pack!” Alpha Alex said with a warm and smooth voice that immediately drew the attention of everyone around.
“I feel truly honored to be here with all of you today. I would also like to introduce you to my second-in-command who is called my Beta and his name is Ron.”
I took a step forward and Jake was standing right next to me. I was doing my best to look calm and collected even though I could feel a nervous flutter in my stomach.
“Hello Alpha Alex. Welcome to our territory” I said trying to sound friendly and confident.
“What brings you to our area today?” I asked really focusing on keeping my voice steady so that I didn’t show how anxious I felt inside.
His intense dark eyes locked onto mine making it hard for me to move and creating an uneasy feeling that ran down my back.
He said “We have journeyed a great distance in search of people who can help us. I truly believe that our lives were meant to intersect at this moment Becky. I have heard much about you before this meeting.”
A sly crooked smile appeared on his face adding a mysterious air to his words.
“Are you talking about my reputation?” I repeated feeling a whirlwind of thoughts in my head.
I could tell that Jake who was sitting next to me was becoming tense. It was obvious he noticed that I was feeling uncomfortable in this situation.
“Yes.” Alex said as he moved a little closer to Becky. His eyes were very serious and did not look away.
“You know the power of the white wolf is really something special. It has a certain charm that is hard to ignore don’t you agree? But there’s no reason for you to feel overwhelmed by it. We all have our parts to play in this big picture…”
