I looked at the demoness and said,” Are you going to be able to help me in my endeavor or not?”
She looked at me from head to toe again and then said,” My apologies. Greetings to the Queen of Amorentia. We knew about you and all the demons have been told about you but we have never thought rather I never thought that I would be summoned by you all by yourself. Your Sorceress friend maybe, but you would deign to call me for information?”
“My situation has made it necessary to do things which I did not know that it was necessary and you are the one who had been called upon by my mother all those years back in order to spy on your masters and mistresses in Hell. So I am aware that once you take your price you are going to be bound to me unless I deem it necessary to free you from this service,” I said with a smile and the demoness looked at me with a curious look. Then she smiled and said,” I must say that you do not take after the erstwhile Red Queen. She was a lot more regal than you.”
“That might be but we are not here to discuss the looks of me or my family and neither is this conversation going to take any kind of sexual colour so whatever you are thinking of doing, don’t,” I said in a command and immediately she became all stiff and was covered from head to toe in flowing dark robes and I smiled.
“See it is not easy to comply after all. But I am not a bad Mistress. And I am not going to ask much of you. Duplicity and spying is your second nature, Valeka, so it would be a lot easier for all of us if you just tell me your price and then I can begin the entire process. As you might be aware, I don’t have a lot of time,” I said and she looked at me and bowed her head and said,” are you going to give me anything that I ask for?”
“Look if you think you will claim my first born or anything else that is in my body or comes out of my body then no. The answer is a resounding no. So don’t bother asking. If there is something materialistic you can get that yourself so that is also I am not doing your dirty work for you. I am not letting you have any of my mates for any period of time and neither can you ask for Serafina. So if there is anything apart from that, you might go ahead,” I said and she looked at me and smiled.
“You might be the first creature to summon a demoness and then strike a bargain even before the bargain has been done. No I would not ask you any such thing. What I would ask for is far more precious and it will be in time that you will understand that why I am asking for it,” said the demoness and I looked at her and said,” Ask then. Let me hear your price.”
“I want the memory of you and your mother. Not the one who raised you but your real mother. One memory that you can remember with love,” said Valeka and I immediately knew that this was something which was going to be extremely difficult so I looked at her and said,” There is none from the mother that you ask of but I have only one real mother and I am going to give you my happiest memory attached with her.”
Valeka smiled with her fangs outstretched and said,” Of course. All I need is the memory.”
“How are you going to take it from me?” I asked and she smiled again.
“Think of the memory and then let it float away from your mind. I shall receive it,” said Valeka and I closed my eyes. Before I closed my eyes I made sure that the circle that I had drawn inside the pentagram was reinforced once again and she could not escape.
I remembered the time that I fell down for the first time I was two years old while running and I cried and it was Drima who had picked me up and then soothed me and had kissed away my tears and said,” Tears are only to be dropped when you are alone. Because they are very precious. They might steal your smiles but never will steal your tears and they will only make you stronger. Come on. I am proud of you that you are going to have the first scar as the Princess. Come on, let see how bad you have hurt yourself.”
And the memory made me smile. This was the woman who had made sure that I would want and wish for nothing and even if I was given birth to by someone else and raised by someone else’s name, she is the only mother that I have ever known in my entire life. And I let go of that memory from my thoughts.
And I opened my eyes and looked at Valeka and she said,” I have received my price, my Queen. The bargain has been struck. You may ask anything of me now and I am going to be bound to reply to them truthfully according to what I gather and my knowledge as well and no one will be aware of this except you and me. And this bargain is struck until the time that you consider it fit to release me,” said Valeka and I nodded.
“Who is the demon who marked me and how on earth was he created?” I asked. And I knew that my eyes were burning.
“I shall know and let you know as soon as it is possible, my Queen.”
