“If you are thinking that going on talking to yourself is going to help then I think that you need to restart thinking all the choices that you have been making since the past few days,” said the male voice from behind my ears and I knew that this annoying voice was of no one else’s but of the Fae Prince’s.
“I have enough crap to deal with as of now. And I don’t want or need you to be piling up your nonsense on this now,” I replied as I snapped and then suddenly the overbearing presence was gone.
“Were you talking to yourself or there was someone else with you?” asked Serafina and I looked at her and gave her the stink eye and said,” You are just coming to know that there is a high chance that the personal maid of the Red Queen who had been serving her for so many years might be the person who fed her the poisoned tea from a different cup and the Queen did not even notice that and you do not think that there is something strange going on?”
“There is not one strange thing going on. There is something fishy going on and it is linked to what is happening now. What I can feel and understand is the Queen was doing something which means that she was embracing the lifestyle of the Fae. That is in itself something very serious. Did you not hear that she was changing her food habits?” she asked as Dan came running and I looked at him with concern.
“What is it?” I asked him and he nodded saying.
“We are not being able to do anything at all or even search her. It is like she has vanished from the palace without any kind of trace,” said Dan and I looked at him and said with narrowed eyes,” Are you telling me that the only suspect we had in the murder of the Red Queen is gone and you don’t know where she is and you are not being able to find her as well? You guys are the best trackers in the entire kingdom of Amorentia and still you are telling me that you could not find the maid of the Red Queen?”
The tone of my voice was more than enough to chill hell over twice when Serafina said,” It is possible that she has also been able to stop her scent. Or do what these Fae had done. They also did not have scent of any kind.”
“That is entirely possible. But how is it possible that what is fine with the Fae can be fine with the werewolves as well? There must be something that will help us into finding out Kia, is it not? If she is not found then the entire capital’s safety is at risk. Being the Red Queen’s maid she knows the castle inside out and all the people inside the castle not to mention the pregnant women and children are vulnerable,” I said and I could hear the growing panic in my own voice.
“What do you think needs to be done?” asked Serafina and I said,” Call all my people. Every single of my Guards and make sure that this room is so charmed that nothing goes out, Fina.”
Serafina nodded and Dan immediately closed his eyes and murmured something. Within a few minutes all the guards were here except Fiona who was not to let Willie and Winnie out of her sights ever again until the culprits were caught. Once all the Guards of my pack were in I said,” I think all of you are well aware of the situation. There needs to be some way that we can get the maid back. We need her for questioning and I was to ask her that what on earth could motivate her to take such a decision that she would do this. That she would go ahead and kill her own mistress. And not only that. The mistress that she had served for more than twenty years.”
“When things like this happens you think that whom can I trust and whom can I not,” said Paul, one of my guards and I did not want to think about what he had said but unfortunately it was true and there was nothing that I could do to stop them from thinking like this.
“But right now there is something else that we can do,” said Serafina and we all looked at her.
She said,” I might be able to enchant something of hers so that it can be used as a tracker while you guys track her. But I need something of her. Can you get me that?”
“Is a pendant or cloth that she wore going to be a good tracker?” asked Dan and I raised my brows at him. He said,” It is not what you are thinking. While I was searching for Kia, I found the woman with whom she used to share her room when she was in the castle and she said that there might be a few stuff that she could be able to find which Kia used.”
“That is good then. You need to tell me that you have been able to procure something soon enough…” I said when Serafina suddenly dropped the bubble on the floor letting the glass vessel crash and the door to the room opened. It was Drima and there was a pale looking man who was along with her.
“what is it Drima? Is Luke ok?” I asked immediately as I rose from the chair where I was sitting and she said,” This man says that he has found the cure to what ails him but there is a catch.”
“There is always supposed to be a catch,” said Serafina in a dry voice and I could not help but feel that this thing was going to be not as simple as we had thought before.
“What is it?” I asked. I could not help but think that whatever it might be I was going to do it. Whatever it took to bring him back to me I was going to make sure that it was done and that Luke was back with me safe and sound.
“His consciousness has been trapped in something which is hidden in the Fae Realm and this happened after he came in contact with a weapon which has been cursed to be the soul trapper. Thankfully you are strong enough to keep back his soul but his conscious and unconscious mind is all muddled up and now only you can go there and free him and then bring him back again, only if his body is kept in stasis and is not harmed in any way,” said the man and I just looked at him for a few moments to even be able to fathom what he said. Once I understood what he was saying, I said,” Serafina, contact the Elves. Say that I want aa meeting with their King and the Queen of Amorentia is extending her hand of friendship to them.”
Everyone looked at me stunned at what I had said but I did not give anyone the chance to question me any further and then went ahead to see Luke. I knew that wherever he was he was trying to come back to me and all I could do was to help him come back sooner. If I needed to do things I never thought I would do so soon, then so be it.
