Chapter 72

I walked out of my bedroom as Fiona and Dan followed me and I did not go in the direction of the War Room. They both looked at me in confusion but I did not even wait to listen to what they were saying.
“My Queen, are we not going to the War Room?” they asked and I said,” No. We are not. Dan, Go and fetch Serafina to come to the library which has been sealed until now. There is something a lot more pressing that needs to be attended before the war strategizing. Fiona while me and Serafina would be inside you have to stand guard at the door and make sure that no one bothers us.”
“What are you going to do, My Queen?” she asked as we were finally alone in the corridor and I was standing before the door of the library waiting for Serafina. I could have told her to come telepathetically to come down here but I wanted to check if she had mastered the art of teleportation yet.
And within the next moment she was standing before me.
“You could have told me by my mind only, I thought we were going to do that now,” said Serafina and I smiled at her.
“That could come in handy later on. Come on in. We have work to do and we don’t have time. Thankfully this room was sealed so the things that were here might be still untouched and that can make our work slightly easier,” I said and she said,” I thought that a time changing and retracing back the steps might be easier but for that I would need something of both the people in the room. Or else it won’t work.”
“We have not still buried the body of the Red Queen,” said Fiona and I smiled at her but said,” The problem is not with the Queen but the assailant who had been here that day and then went completely missing without any kind of trace. We are trying to see if the attack on her was also done by the Fae and that too in order to destabilize the realm of the wolves.”
“There might be a chance. If we had the body of the live Fae then I might have been able to do some tests on that creature but I think what you did was a right choice as the Queen. There needed to be a messenger sent back to send this message to their head saying that we are not the ones to be trifled with,” said Serafina as I touched the lock and the handle of the doors of the crime scene and entered it together.
Then I turned back to close the door and said,” Make sure that no one comes in until we are out.”
Fiona nodded at me and I closed the door behind me. I immediately started stripping and then changed into a full blown wolf, not the humanoid structure that I had turned to when I was in the garden at the fight earlier. Once I changed completely in a matter of seconds Serafina said,” that was impressive and certainly a lot more easier to do than it looked before.”
“It certainly feels easy,” I replied to her in my mind as I showed my teeth and then she said,” Sin if you are trying to grin at me then please, don’t do that. It is really scary.”
I snorted and then went in the direction of the spot where the Queen had been found dead. There was certainly magic at work here. And Serafina knew that as well.
“The person who was last with her had used some kind of magic in order to bind her. The traces of the binding magic was completely strong and that should not be possible unless it was Fae or Elf magic,” she said. I looked at her and stared and then said in the mind,” Elf magic?”
“Yes. Elf magic,” said Serafina as if it was something very natural and I grunted. I needed to talk to her about this but I needed words for that purpose. This was not cutting it out.
“Look I know that all this is new to you but you must have known that there was something very fishy about the way that she was killed or rather died. This is certain that magic has been done in this room,” said Serafina and I wanted to roll my eyes at her for saying the obvious things but then I looked at something. There were ants moving about something under the table and I started smelling it. There was a faint trace of chamomile in the room and by the side of the sugar cube that was being transported by the ants. It must have taken them considerable time if they were cleaning all the sugar from the bowl that had been placed on that table.
“The Red Queen never used to take any sugar in her tea. And there is only one cup here with the mark of her lipstick shade. But if she did not take sugar then what on earth is the sugar doing here?” I asked and then Serafina also looked at the table. Then she went ahead and said,” There was another cup and saucer here. It has been removed.”
“Can you tell me where it has been taken? Or who has taken?” I asked and she said,” No. I cannot say that but Sin, the cup that the Queen drank from is poisoned. It was definitely something that would slow her down and make her sloppy. That would give the assailant more than enough time to strike at the Queen.”
“And that too making it look like a suicide when there was nothing remotely suicidal going on with the Red Queen,” I said and then I thought now that we had ammunition that we could present before the Council so that the plans for the war would be a lot easier now.
“Someone inside did this,” said Serafina and I looked at her in shock.
“What do you mean by that?” I mentally screamed at her but she did not even flinch and she looked at me steadily and said,” Whoever made the tea and brought the cup was not any outsider it was an inside job. You are going to have serious life risk, Sin. We need to find out the mole immediately.”
“There must be something that will help you tell this that whether the person is now inside the palace or not?” I asked and she nodded.
“Yes, that can be said. I have made sure that the spell tells us that immediately when the person comes close to this cup. The one who has done this would cause the cup to turn blue. I have enchanted it that way,” said Serafina and I said,” Good, now let’s go and bash some skulls. I am in sincere mood for breaking things now.”
There was some kind of noise on the other side and I heard a clash so I immediately changed back into my human form and wore my clothes in record time. Then as soon as I had finished dressing there was the sound of the swords clashing and I knew that out peaceful time was up. I opened the door and Torah was standing outside the room while one of her lackeys was fighting with Fiona. She had the matter in hands but I knew that this was something I had to handle. The Council thought that they could puppeteer me into doing anything but I came out with a cold smile on my face.
“Torah! I thought that you would be in the War Room trying to ascertain that why was there an attack on the Capital and there was an attack on your Queen the night of her coronation. But instead I find you here, wasting my time and Fiona’s energy,” I said. I knew that I looked immaculate as a Queen should look like and she was not expecting me to attack so soon.
“We thought that you needed our help, my Queen,” she said while I said,” Really? I don’t remember asking you for it, Torah.”
She glared daggers at me and then I said,” Look I don’t know what kind of pact you had with the earlier Queen or even what kind of pack you made with my cousin but remember one thing, you are just someone who has gone to the Council to save your own neck. And I am not going to listen to you ever if it is not going to help me out. You are just a toy and a side show, not the Queen, remember that the next before you make sure that you are making your boy-toy attack my Royal Guard.”
Torah said,” You are not fit to be the right Queen.”
I smiled at her and said,” Of course, I am not. Torah you are absolutely correct in your perception. But tell me, you would have someone who would listen to your commands like a good little girl and not wield the power like the Alpha Queen, is it not?”
“How dare you speak to her in that way?” shouted her boy toy and I immediately lifted my hand he was hanging suspended in the air. The wolf was scared at that. Even Torah’s eyes were wide in shock. The Alpha Queen was supposed to have powers but never powers like this. Never like this which might cause them to be scared.
And damn right! They needed to be scared now. The Queen had been murdered and I was not going to rest until I knew who had done this.
