Chapter 70
I looked at Serafina and said,” That Lilliane, that was me…wasn’t it? It was me…then why was my name not being said?”
Serafina sighed and told,” There is a creature inside the body of Luke which is causing a huge upsurge in the hypothalamus of your mate. That is the reason why his memories are getting tarnished. He knows you but he does not know that it is you. The creature which was inside you was same as this one but it was sent back to the portal when you threw that Fae back, however in the case of Luke that did not happen. He imbibed the creature in his body and now the injury is healed but he is in coma.”
“How am I going to let him out? I need to do something…he cannot be lying there…I need him,” I screamed aloud but Serafina caught hold of my hand and said,” The fact that you did not mate with him is the only reason why you were saved, Sin. You have to understand that this is not as easy as it looks and neither does it sound so. Luke was mated to you and they thought that you were mated to him. Because you announced Luke as your mate and concubine at your coronation so I think they targeted Luke for the fact that they wanted to reach you.”
“How on earth would that be even possible?” Drima spoke up this time.
Serafina sighed and said,” That can be possible because she announced that Luke was her chosen mate and not the vampire Lord Credence which is the reason she is sane. I am thinking that there is a definite possible that this magic is old and powerful and dark.”
“She even spoke a language that we could not understand back there in the garden,” said Dan, one of my Council Guards. And I looked at him with a stunned expression,” What do you mean by that? I was speaking in English.”
“No. You weren’t, my Queen,” said Credence in a soft but strong voice.
“Then what was I speaking in?” I asked as I suddenly remembered that the Fae could understand me. If the Fae could understand me then that could only mean one thing that I was replying back in the language of the Fae.
“She was speaking Gaelic. And I think she did not even know that she was speaking Gaelic,” said Credence. I looked at him and then Serafina suddenly said,” It is a gift that was bestowed on you, Sin. For you fulfilled the wish of Dahlia. You made sure that she was in the ground and you promised her last wish and then gave it to her. That was the reason that you were blessed with a gift. It was bestowed on you like a boon.”
“How did she know that I needed that the most?” I asked.
“She did not know. But the magic that she draws her power from, the one that feeds the entire Fae Realm is something different. It is alive and it wraps the entire realm in a protective way. And if it is tarnished then the Fae Realm would become a source of dark power to whoever wants to use it. Taking away your connection what you might have with the Prince of the Fae is something anyone would do as last resort,” said Serafina.
“Today the ones who were attacking in the garden, the Fae who were here, their body did not cast off any kind of odour or any kind of scent as well which I got from Dahlia. I mean, it is natural that every single living creature is going to leave something behind to show their marking but such was not the case with these people. I could not anticipate anything when they came in. Neither the opening of the portal and nor that there was someone coming at us. If it happens again then we will be completely in the dark and the blind and specially this time it was me. But what about the safety of my people? What about the safety of the kingdom if I am not here or even Luke is not here?” I asked. All the ramifications that were happening in the back of my mind was something that I could not control.
“We need to plan then. It has not even been a day and we have to start planning for a war,” said Drima and then she said,” I am going to ask them to open the War Room. My Queen, please get some rest and then we shall start planning.”
“Before we start planning I want to know what we are going to do about Luke….he cannot be left in this way, can he now? He is the Royal Concubine,” I said and Credence said,” I think I should call on my doctor.”
“Your doctor? I thought that vampires did not need any kind of such things, like doctors or healers, then?” I asked him and he smiled.
“He is not a regular doctor. He is a different kind of doctor. The one who specializes in making sure that my undead life remains unharmed. It is not like that vampires cannot be harmed and the older a vampire gets the more enemies we tend to collect. So same case with me. I think he might look slightly different from what you usually expect but he would be able to say what is going on,” said Credence. I nodded at him and then I said,” In the meanwhile I have a feeling in my gut which is telling me that somehow these people who attacked were somehow related to the Death of the Red Queen.”
There were audible gasps in the room and I looked at Serafina and said,” Check him and tell me that his vitals are stable and he is only dreaming worst dreams.”
She nodded after two minutes once she had done with her diagnosis and then I said,” Make sure that he is stable and Doc, you make sure that he remains stable and none of his vitals go down until this doctor sent for by Lord Credence comes or arrives here.”
“Where are you going?” asked Drima.
“I am going to investigate the murder of my Queen. The one that had been killed and we have not been able to show any kind of respect to her as well in this entire process.”
