Chapter 61

I was taken aback when Luke made the declaration and said,” You have always been the Queen of my heart and I never thought that such a day would arrive when I shall be taken as your mate. I had hopes but I never fuelled them because I did not want to stop loving you if you said no. But today the Goddess has proved that she will always listen to those who have been waiting to seek her blessings. Long live the Alpha Queen!!”
“LONG LIVE THE ALPHA QUEEN!!!!” roared back the crowd and the members of the Council all except Mason were glaring at me. They had thought that they would be able to take the control of the power that I hold and then they would make me dance to their tunes.
The Red Queen had made sure that this would not happen and she had dominated everyone in a different manner altogether. She had crushed her enemies by hook or crook and proved that her will was nothing less than the strength of iron. But now I had to make sure that they see a different kind of power. Someone had spoken to me in that brief moment of power surge that power was not only about giving or taking but it was all about balance and I was beginning to think that there was someone who was going to guide me.
I looked and saw that Serafina had created a Greek toga like think for Luke and he was looking every bit like the Greek God Apollo himself.
“Let the party begin. Everyone should enjoy the festivities and no one should go home until the party is over,” I announced and everyone started walking out of the throne room towards the direction of the Great Hall where the party had been arranged. I found that Credence was still standing in one corner and on the other corner the Council was standing.
I looked at Credence and then swiveled by glance at them and he understood that what I was trying to say. In a moment he was out of the door and I was left alone in the throne room with the members of the Council with just Luke and Serafina. Not even Drima was in sight.
“I hope that the ceremony was according to what you wished, My Alpha Queen,” said Mason with a low bow and I smiled at him in a manner befitting the Queen. After all, when you are in the position then you needed to act like one. And pretense came to be eighty percent of the job most of the times.
“The ceremony is just for the sake of the people, Council man Mason. It is something that they need to see, to forget all that has gone in the past few days and then gear up for something new. As for me I am more concerned about finding who killed out Red Queen rather than going to the party. But it is my party, and I do need to be present for that. Shall all of you be joining me?” I asked in a light tone. The looks on the faces of the Council if they could be captured at the moment. Dear Goddess!! They all looked at me as if they could kill me just with their glares itself.
“What do you think you are doing? Huh? Do you think you would be here if the Red Queen was not dead?” asked one of them and I looked at the man with such distaste and disinterest that he cowered for a moment. Then I spoke up.
“If the Red Queen were alive then all of you would have been rotting on the podium like the limbless automatons and idiots you are, Councilmen and women. I mean no disrespect but don’t you think that talking to your Alpha Queen the day she has been crowned is going against the will of the Goddess and the crown?” I asked.
Luke stood beside me like a wall. A handsome and beautiful wall like he always had been with his great swath of white hair and blue eyes and now only in his human form he looked even more formidable.
“You are nothing. Nothing but a piece of trash who has been given this power because of a chance…” said the man and then I looked at him and then put my hand up and started choking him with my invisible power.
“Sometimes it is good to not have your voice when you do not know how to speak. This is only a warning, Councilman. The next time I am going to severe your tongue. Do not consider that just because I am twenty one years old means that you can play me like a puppet on strings. I am the Alpha Queen with unprecedented power and the Goddess has given me her grace for a reason. I might kill you because of treason just now, what do you say, Torah?” I looked at Torah still choking the man.
“My apologies for his tactless and crass behavior, my Alpha Queen. I mean no disrespect to you or the Goddess and neither to your mate. We did not expect you to make so many choices so soon and that is all. But you are correct, Jeffrey needs to be killed for treason for speaking to you in that way,” said Torah as she glared at the choking man and I let him go.
“This was a warning. The next time, I am not going to be so merciful,” I said as I looked at all the members of the Council and this time they did not hesitate to curtsy.
“And one more thing. I expect that you are going to show my mate the same courtesy that you are going to show me,” I said and there was a hint of steel in my voice this time and this time Mason replied with a smile,” You can rest assured about that, my Queen. I am going to make sure that nothing untoward behavior happens towards your mate. But I think that you need to be at the party now, we already are late..”
“Come on Mason. You know that a Queen can never be late to her own party, can she now? Everyone else is awfully early,” I said and Serafina and Luke both smiled at my comment. Now I was smiling as well.
“Alright now that the discussion with the Council is over we can go and enjoy the party,” said Luke as he took my arm and placed a small hand on my back and then we walked in the direction of the Grand hall. Then Serafina said,” You handled so well that I could have applauded your performance. I did not know that you could actually do that…when did you know that you have got telekinetic powers?”
“I did not know that myself…I felt like someone told me to that inside my ears and I felt that it was important,” I said as we entered the Grand hall and the music stopped. Everyone looked down while I walked inside with Luke on my arm and I smiled and said,” Let the party continue.”
As soon as the music started there was a blur of something dark before my eyes and I knew that it was Credence who was standing before me. I looked at him and said,” Lord Credence, we shall require to speak about the truce between our people. Serafina will you see to it that he is offered the finest blood wine in our cellar and get something fruity and tangy for me. We shall be speaking in private in the room at the back. Luke, I think I need to do this alone.”
Luke did not like being dismissed at all. We were connected by our mind, body and soul and I could feel his anger and dissatisfaction like it was mine itself but he knew better than to display it.
“As you wish, my Queen. I shall stand guard at the door lest something happens, I shall be close,” said Luke and I said,” I think that is prudent, Luke. Thank you.”
I stared at Credence and said,” Come, my Lord. Let me show you the way. I am thinking that we are going to have a lot to talk about.”
“Indeed, Alpha Queen,” said Credence. His voice clipped and his words were colder than the winds blowing through the mountains.
As we entered the room and the door closed behind us, immediately he was behind me and caught hold of my body and I could feel his lips at the nape of my neck and his fingers touching my nipples over the fabric of my gown. And he whispered,” You gave me your blood, Little one…and I gave you mine…don’t you know that it means something?”
“I know that it means we are mated, Cred. But that does not mean that I am going to forget my duty as the Queen to my people,” I said as a moan involuntarily escaped my lips.
