Chapter 71

I walked in the direction of my room first as Fiona and Dan came along with me. Credence looked at me but he did not follow. There were the vampires left from the coronation party and he probably went to talk to them. I still could hear and feel what Luke was seeing in his dreams. If this went on for a long time then he was going to completely forget me. Whoever was tampering with his memories was definitely a strong person who wielded considerable amount of magic. But they did not know who they were dealing with. It is me, and I am no longer a scared girl who will hide or cower and will have to find comfort in the fur of her pet wolf.
I am the Alpha Queen.
“You were magnificent there when you were fighting,” said Fiona once we were inside my room. I was still wearing the cloak that Credence had wrapped around me when I had shred and ripped all my own clothes.
“Neither did I. But I did not know that it seemed kind of natural,” I replied as they both came in and then closed the door behind me. I went to the closet and then sighed looking at my face. The person I was looking at was not me. I could not recognize who I was looking at. It had been a few hours that I had become the Queen and within that entire time period my entire life had been torn apart and had been thrown into such a strange concoction that I did not know what to make of it.
But if I was going to the War Room then I knew that I had to look the part. After all when you look confident and dress to kill, half the battle is already won.
I chose to wear a black jeans and a red tank top and then I brought out the sleeveless leather jacket which had been given by Drima as a gift for me winning the contest and looked at myself. I still looked a wreck. Who wouldn’t?
After what I had been through in a few hours who wouldn’t?
“Really? Self-pity?” came a voice from behind me and I turned back to look to find no one. But this was not a female voice speaking in the back of my mind. I looked back in the mirror again and I was not staring at my own reflection and found looking at the man whom I had seen in my dreams. He had a golden glow on him and I could hear a strange buzzing sound.
“Are you fucking with me?” I asked the strange man in the mirror. As far as the description matched, the man was most probably the Fae Prince and he had made sure that my life was hell all this time. In dreams and now he was not even allowing me to stare at myself in the mirror.
“Such crude language, my Queen, but I was not expecting anything less from you. You certainly look the part that you are going to present there before all your people, but are you sure that you are feeling like it?” he asked and I frowned at him and said,” Why on earth are you suddenly trying to be nice? All this time that you have coming to me in my dreams you have certainly not been subtle and certainly not supportive. And now you have come here to provide me a moral guidance?”
“No my Queen. You are far too knowledgable in that part. What I am here about is that what are you really going to do? Because if you do not have a plan already to know what to do in order for these portals to stop forming all around your realm. And how can you go in the realm where I belong and come and get me?” asked the Fae Prince and I could not help but smirk at him.
“Are you really telling me that the Prince of a Realm has no power and no magic even after being one of the strongest creatures of the universe that he can protect his own realm?” I asked.
He sighed and said,” That is exactly where you come in, My Queen. You are not who think you are and you can never reach your complete potential until you fulfill the prophecy. You think that it would be a shameful for me to ask help from the woman that is my mate. The one who is going to come and complete me. In this Realm, the women are the ones who hold power and there is no one except you who can match me. That is why I am running and hiding and waiting for you to come and find me. Because until you do that, this Realm will be engulfed in darkness and then she is going to come for yours.”
“Who is she? And if you are powerful then why on earth have you not tried to stop her? What kind of stupidity is this? Do you know that for your idiotic actions my mate is in coma? And a Fae girl was killed before my own eyes? I had to see her change into a plant?” I screamed at him and suddenly there was a knock at the door of my closet.
“My Queen…are you alright?” asked Dan from outside and my gaze was broken from the mirror and immediately he was gone.
Bloody damn coward!!!
How could I get such a mate? A man of all creatures who was not powerful enough to protect his own people?
“No I am fine. Ask Fiona to come in please,” I said as I sat down before the mirror. Then I thought suddenly that if he was here then he was trying to tell me something. I was angry so I did not even try and focus on what was important and looked at the mirror once again and said to myself,” If he can arrive to me in my dreams then there must be a way that I can also go to his. Nothing in this world happens as a one way street.
Fiona knocked on the door of the closet and then I said,” Come in.”
She looked at me and said,” You don’t look good, my Queen. What is that you want?”
“I know that I look like shit. And I think that it is the perfect look that I need. I have just lost my mate in a coma and there is a strange something taking control of his mind so it is for sure that I do not want to look good. Just pull my hair and braid it. And make sure that I have all my knives sheathed in my jacket. I might need them along with my sword,” I said.
“Is taking the sword allowed in the War Room?” she asked as she started running the brush through my long hair.
“I am not sure what the rules say bit if anyone tells me take care of the rules I am going to make sure that he can never speak again,” I said and she said,” It is understandable that you would like to be armed at all times before you go to meet those old cods. After all you were taken off guard when you were at the garden. But tell me one thing, my Queen? How did you transform like that?”
“What do you mean by that? What did I do now?” I asked. I knew what I had happened but I wanted to know exactly what they were thinking in their own terms.
“My Queen, despite the fact that you were spectacular when you were fighting but what shocked us was how did you know that you could even change into a humanoid wolf like creature? Your claws were so big and I could not even understand at first that it was you and then I saw that your hair was absolutely perfect and only you had changed your face and size and become a lot bigger. How did you even do that? Is it possible for us to do this as well?” she asked and I looked at her in the mirror and said,” This was the first time it happened with me and I did not even know that I spoke a language which I had never learnt in my entire life. It seems that a lot is happening while I cannot even fathom.”
“You need rest, my Queen,” said Fiona as she finished braiding my hair and I looked at my reflection. As I stood up, she opened the safe and started placing the knives out on the table and then she started putting them in the various sheaths that was already made in my dress.
“Red leather looks good on you, My Queen. If you looked just slightly healthier then it would become the newest rage in fashion,” said Fiona and I could not help but smile. This girl was a very good Guard but along with that if I did not have her for my hair or clothes then I had no idea how I was going to manage my daily life even.
“I never told you how important you are to me, Fiona. I don’t know what the future is going to hold for us but I just want you to know that without you I would not have been here if it was not for you, every single day,” I said as I saw that Fiona’s eyes filled with tears and then she quickly blinked them away,” Thank you for everything that you have done for me, Fiona.”
