Chapter 34 Nobody Remains Unchanged

Evelyn used to dislike taking photos, so there were very few pictures at home. But even so, William managed to find her high school graduation photo. A girl in a school uniform, with an innocent face and no expression, staring straight at the camera.

"Why do you always force yourself to do things you don't like?" William asked directly.

Evelyn didn't know how to answer. "Maybe I feel like there's no better choice."

"Do you have anything that you've always wanted to do but haven't done yet?"

"I can't really think of anything."

"Well, you should tell me when you do." William took the photo and quietly put it into his pocket.

He really liked that photo. Evelyn looked very young and gentle in it.

In the afternoon, the two of them went to Evelyn's school. The campus was empty during the holidays, and the gate was tightly closed. They looked around, but there was no way to sneak in. William looked disappointed.

"Come with me." Evelyn suddenly remembered the shortcut that she used to take with Vivian to skip classes. She wasn't sure how much it had changed after all these years, but she just really wanted to go and see.

"Vivian and I used to climb out from there when we skipped PE classes."

"Don't you like PE classes?"

"I don't like them, especially the 800-meter run."

"No wonder your stamina is so low."

At first, she didn't realize what he was talking about. She looked at him and said, "I work out every week. It's not too bad."

Seeing the mischievous smile on his face, Evelyn finally understood what he meant and decided to ignore him. She continued walking forward. William caught up quickly and held her hand.

Evelyn led him around the back of the school, where the walls were slightly lower than in the front. Surprisingly, even after all these years, it still remained the same.

Evelyn was glad she wore her sneakers as they reached the top of the wall. William attempted to lift her up but she insisted, "I can do it myself, you go down."

William swiftly entered the school, and Evelyn gracefully flipped over the wall, joining him inside.

"It seems like you used to climb over this wall often!" William remarked.

"Only a few times a week for P.E. classes," she replied.

"That's not good. You should prioritize physical fitness," William disagreed.

"What about you? What classes did you hate when you were in school?"

"Well, I hated all the classes," William spoke seriously, causing Evelyn to burst into laughter by his earnest expression.

"So, your academic performance must have been poor."

"Yeah, it was." William didn't refute. Does getting into Harvard Business School count as having poor academic abilities?

As they wandered through the empty campus, Evelyn introduced familiar spots and shared her memories. William felt closer to her now, as if he had become a part of her youth.

When they arrived in front of the sports field, William suggested they run a lap together. They actually ran a whole round on the field. When William looked back, he saw Evelyn's smiling face and it warmed his heart.

Sitting on the steps by the sports field, Evelyn proposed, "Before we go back, would you accompany me to my grandmother's house?"

"Umm… Alright."

Evelyn could sense his reluctance.

He stood up, dusted off his clothes, and turned his back to Evelyn. "Come on!"

"Are you sure?" she asked.

"What's wrong? Just come up."

Evelyn wrapped her arms around his neck and spoke about trivial things. William's heart itched with excitement. "If you keep doing that, I'm afraid..."

"Hmm?" Evelyn's voice trailed off, and it stirred William's mind. It reminded him of that Christmas night- it felt like a dream.

She wasn't used to it, and for the past few days, they had been sleeping on the same bed, yet William didn't dare to make any advances. Her initiative already surprised him. He didn't want to ask for too much at once, but can love truly be restrained?

Setting her down, he cupped her face and kissed her, gently brushing his lips against hers. "Just a kiss."

After a long and deep kiss, Evelyn lowered her gaze and said, "I'm hungry, let's go back."

"I feel cheated," William joked, but he held her hand tightly as they walked back.

She moved her hand back.

"What do you want to eat tonight?" Evelyn felt that her life was no different from that of a pig, eating enough and then taking a few laps before sleeping. After getting enough sleep, she would wake up and eat something again.

"What do you want to eat?"

"Well, I don't have anything specific in mind, so I asked you."

William looked at her. She was hugging her own arms. It was nice to be able to see her act spoiled in front of him. Suddenly, he pounced on Evelyn, who was sitting on the sofa, and instantly pressed her beneath him.

Evelyn couldn't help but cover her face because it felt so ambiguous.

"What's wrong? Shy? Or scared? Tell me!" William rubbed her long hair.

He pulled her hands away from her face and slowly moved closer. He didn't avoid eye contact. He was staring directly into her eyes.

Evelyn felt a little overwhelmed in his burning gaze. Her entire face turned red as she shrank into William's chest, not knowing what to do.

Evelyn felt her face getting hotter and hotter. Dear Lord, why did she have to be in this position with him?

William gently kissed her forehead and said, "I love you so much."

This was the first time he had said "I love you" so seriously. Evelyn couldn't help but look up. Even before she could see his gaze, William sealed it with a kiss.

"Don't look at me, I'll be shy," William said what he truly felt in his heart. Although he had encountered many women, whether it was a fleeting affair or a momentary attraction, he had never actually said "I love you" to anyone. But looking at Evelyn, he couldn't help but say those words.

William knew that his whole life was devoted to this woman, and he willingly accepted it.

"Let's eat first." Evelyn tried to push him away, and William immediately understood the implication. Evelyn couldn't understand why those words came out so easily.

Pushing him away, she stood up straight from the sofa and tidied her clothes. However, William hugged her again and whispered in her ear, "Sure! After eating, I'll eat you."

The entire dinner was eaten absentmindedly, while the intense, scorching gaze from the man opposite her couldn't be ignored.

After finishing their meal, Evelyn went to the bathroom to wash up. William discreetly handed Evelyn a bag. When Evelyn took it out and looked at it, it turned out to be a lace camisole made of sheer fabric, very light and fluttery. It would look quite sexy when worn.

Evelyn felt that she definitely couldn't do it, so she decisively gave up. She finally wore her pajamas and came out.

William looked at her and felt like he had never been tempted so easily before. He tried to restrain himself and went into the bathroom for a shower.

When William came out of the bathroom and saw Evelyn leaning against the bed, reading a magazine, his gaze involuntarily focused on her slender and fair neck, with a glimpse of her beautiful figure underneath the pajamas.

Her fair skin was as smooth as jade, and her loosely tied hair revealed her clavicle. The temptation was simply too strong.

William found his steps inexplicably heavy as he walked toward her. If he were to be rejected by Evelyn again, he was afraid he wouldn't be able to resist forcing himself on her.

He lifted the covers, lay down, and snatched Evelyn's book. Evelyn looked up at him, ready to scold him, but her slightly parted mouth was immediately silenced.

William's breath moved away slightly as he muttered to Evelyn, "I have endured for so long."

Evelyn knew she couldn't escape this time and felt a hidden sense of worry.

William slowly unbuttoned her shirt, causing Evelyn to tremble uncontrollably. He struggled with his desire and approached her slowly, pressing numerous kisses all over.

Evelyn didn't know where her clothes ended up in the end, nor did she know how she had succumbed like this again. All she could hear amidst her own moans was a voice that sounded completely different from her own. She could hardly believe that those moans were coming from her own mouth.

"But this time, it felt so much better," Evelyn thought to herself afterward.

Neither of them felt sleepy, and they embraced each other in the most fitting position.

"This happiness feels too unreal," William murmured as he rested his head against Evelyn's.

Evelyn thought the same thing.

Seeing that she didn't respond, William assumed she had fallen asleep and continued to speak on his own, "I just want to hold you like this."

Evelyn's heart felt as though it had already melted for him.

The next day, the two of them went to visit Evelyn's grandmother. The elderly woman's mind was starting to become unclear, but as soon as she caught sight of Evelyn, she recognized her and repeatedly called her name, "Evelyn, Evelyn." She couldn't muster any other words. She just called out her name like that.

Evelyn couldn't help but let tears pool in her eyes silently.

Uncle Joseph returned from outside and saw Evelyn with a strange man. He glanced at the gift box in William's hands, and his expression slightly softened.

Evelyn respectfully greeted her uncle, and he only nodded in response.

William found it strange, and Evelyn simply tightened her grip on his hand, remaining silent. There were doubts in his mind, but he knew it wasn't the time to ask.

Originally, they did not plan to have lunch. Evelyn only wanted to visit the old woman since she had been the one who had treated her the best since she was a child.

However, little did she expect that Joseph would say to her before she left, "Why don't you stay for lunch and then leave? Your aunt is almost ready."

Evelyn didn't know how to refuse, but she understood that this meal would definitely not be peaceful. The uneasiness in her heart slowly grew infinitely.
