Chapter 59 Let's Get Married
Vivian buried her head in the blanket, feeling embarrassed.
Charles stood by the bed, looking at Vivian curled up like that. His bad mood disappeared instantly as he ran his fingers through his hair and came up with a way to make her come out. "Your underwear is showing."
At the moment she heard these words, Vivian jumped up from the bed and looked down at her clothes. There was nothing wrong with them. She glared at the person next to the bed in annoyance. "You're so annoying!"
Charles didn't get angry either. He walked over and sat down in front of her, and now it was Vivian who looked down on him from a higher position. He tilted his head back and looked at her. "Can you still sleep?"
Vivian shook her head. With all this commotion, who could still sleep?
"Today, let Sam accompany you for a stroll. The clothes from yesterday are washed and in the bathroom. I'll try to come back early." Charles kept his head tilted back as he spoke softly.
Seeing that his hair was still damp, Vivian took the towel from him and began drying his hair. Normally, his hair was always styled with hair gel, perfectly neat and tidy. But now, Charles had hair hanging down on his forehead, slightly long, almost covering his eyes. "Where's the hairdryer?"
Charles reached out and hugged her. "I'll do it myself. You tidy up, and we'll have breakfast together."
Vivian sighed dejectedly. Just now, there were so many people, she didn't want to embarrass herself again by going out.
Charles knew what she was thinking. "It will just be the two of us."
"Then wait for me." Only then did Vivian rushed into the bathroom.
The two of them waited for the food to be served. Vivian rested her chin on her hands and looked around absentmindedly. "Is the food here delicious? The portions look small but cozy."
Vivian looked around the small shop, where the tables and chairs were casually placed, and there was only one cashier behind the counter. The kitchen seemed particularly close, with the scent of food wafting out.
"It's alright. I never really paid much attention to the taste before." Charles spoke the truth. He was usually too busy and didn't notice too much of his surroundings or the goings on.
"When not on set, I stayed in the hotel, resting and reading the script. The food was decent enough."
Upon hearing this, Vivian knew that he must be incredibly busy. It turns out that whether you're some sort of a celebrity or an actor, behind the scenes, everyone is the same. They even work harder than someone like myself, who spends most of their time in an office.
Unconsciously, Vivian's gaze fell on his hands. There were some scars on his left hand, and Vivian grabbed it instinctively. His palm was calloused, with some fresh wounds. However, the back of his hand looked nice, definitely intentionally taken care of for the camera. "What happened here?" Vivian asked.
Vivian gently touched his soft hand, running her fingers over each small wound. She widened her eyes and asked him what happened. Charles' heart softened like water, and he slightly tightened his fingers before holding her hand back. He was ready to say it was nothing, but the words turned into, "Filming can be tough, but it's all good."
Food arrived just in time, and the young server on the side couldn't help but chuckle. Vivian quickly withdrew her hand, and the server placed the food down, realizing it was Charles. However, the server remained composed and said, "Please enjoy your meal." Before leaving, the server cast an envious gaze towards Vivian.
Vivian kept her head down and ate the food on the plate, while Charles smiled and enjoyed his own meal. Seeing the smile on his lips, Vivian softly reminded, "Please be careful in the future."
Charles' smile deepened, and he swallowed his food before solemnly nodding, "Okay."
After the two finished their meal and walked out, they ran into two young girls entering. They recognized Charles immediately and greeted him enthusiastically. Vivian hid behind, unsure of how to respond. Just as the girls requested a photo together, Charles smiled and said, "I'm sorry, due to personal reasons, I can't take a photo. Apologies."
After saying that, he pushed the door open and let Vivian go out first before following.
Voices came from behind, causing Vivian to feel ashamed. "That's her, the airport girlfriend!" "Oh my god, she came to visit him on set!"
As they returned to the hotel, Charles didn't go upstairs. He stood at the elevator, instructing Vivian, "Follow Sam wherever you go. My wallet is on the bedside table, there isn't much cash inside. The PIN for the card is the same as the password for my house door. I'll try to come back early tonight." When they finished, he gently stroked Vivian's head, doting on her. "Good girl."
Luckily, there was no one else in the elevator. Vivian's footsteps faltered at his words, and she walked back to the hotel with weak legs. She collapsed onto the sofa, shouting and exclaiming. What is going on? This must be what it feels like to be in a relationship. It's hard to believe that she is actually dating Charles.
It was only when she heard a knock on the door that Vivian was able to slightly steady her emotions. The person standing outside the door was someone she had met in the morning. Vivian smiled and nodded at him, and Sam revealed an incredibly radiant smile.
"Come on, little fool... Oh no, sorry, sister-in-law, hello! I'm Sam, Charles' assistant!"
Vivian hesitated but still shook hands with him, feeling a bit embarrassed. Fortunately, Sam has a very friendly personality, which made Vivian feel more at ease.
The two of them went out shopping. After Vivian bought new clothes and daily necessities, she didn't bother Sam anymore. On their way back, they stumbled upon a whole street full of snacks and ended up eating from beginning to end.
Seeing Vivian being scalded by the hot pizza and cooling it down with water, Sam felt emotional and said, "I've been Charles' assistant for several years and I've always wondered, what kind of person can handle him... and be able to be with Charles? Haha... meeting you, sister-in-law, is really unexpected."
Being called sister-in-law all the way, Vivian felt a little embarrassed. "Are you disappointed in me?" she asked.
Sam quickly shook his head and said, "How could that be? I just find it surprising. I thought someone like Charles would prefer someone like Lena."
As soon as Lena was mentioned, Vivian immediately perked up and asked, "Hmm, there are rumors going around that he actually dated Lena. Is that true?"
Upon hearing this, Sam understood and playfully said, "I don't know about that. You'll have to ask Charles."
Vivian could only nod and agree. In the end, after this foodie adventure, the two of them established a deep friendship. Whenever someone asked Sam about Charles' girlfriend, he would always speak highly of her without hesitation.
They returned in the afternoon, and Vivian felt bored and restless in the hotel. She could only bother Evelyn over the phone. She learned that Evelyn had recently had a prenatal check-up, but the doctor said the baby's position was a bit off, which might make the delivery more difficult. This made Vivian feel sad again.
"When you give birth, I want to come see you! Don't refuse me!" Vivian said, fearing that Evelyn might reject her request.
Evelyn could only nod and agree. Then they talked about where they had been recently, what they had seen, and what they had done. Although Evelyn sounded relaxed and cheerful, Vivian could still sense her uneasiness and fear. After all, she was so young and had to face all of this alone.
"Evelyn, why not tell my mom and let her take care of you? After all, she's idle at home," Vivian suggested.
"No need, I've hired a nanny," Evelyn said with a smile.
Vivian knew that she couldn't persuade her anymore, so she gave up and continued talking about other things. When she hung up the phone, it was already dark outside. She wondered if she should call Charles to ask if he had finished work, but then she felt it wouldn't be right. It might make her seem immature and too clingy.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, she jumped off the couch and went to greet him. It was indeed him who came back. "You're back?" she asked.
Charles didn't rush to change his shoes. He opened his arms, and Vivian, feeling somewhat embarrassed, moved closer and hugged his waist. He's actually quite skinny. Charles whispered in her ear, how much he missed her and of course he would come back as she was there.
Vivian's ears turned red instantly after hearing a particular sentence. However, she thought to herself that one day she would also tease him back. Just wait and see, Vivian silently vowed in her heart.
"Alright, we're having dinner with the crew tonight. Shall we go together?" Charles asked.
Vivian intended to refuse, but when she thought about Sam mentioning Lena and the unfinished expressions on his face, she decided to meet her after all. "Sure, I'll go change clothes."
Charles changed his shoes and waited for her in the living room.
After some consideration, Vivian picked a dark blue floral dress she had bought today. Even though she wasn't very tall, she was satisfied with her relatively long legs. So today, she wanted to show off all her advantages. She had also previously checked Lena's information and found out that she was only two centimeters taller than herself. It was alright, not much of a difference. But there was nothing else worth comparing.
Charles looked at the person walking out of the bedroom and his eyes darkened. The deep blue color really suited her, but this dress was a bit short. Seeing Charles' expression, Vivian began to feel insecure. Wasn't it nice? The design was simple, and she thought it looked good. Charles bent his fingers and covered his mouth, looking at her as she approached.
Noticing his facial expression, Vivian nervously turned around in a circle and looked down at her outfit. "Is it not good? But the store assistant and Sam both thought it looked good. Did I make a mistake?"
As soon as Charles heard the words "Sam thought it looked good," he felt a bit annoyed. Did he also notice? "It's very cold outside."
Vivian smiled playfully, "It's alright, I'll just add a coat. As long as it doesn't look ugly. Your expression scared me, I thought it was ugly."
Charles slowly reached out his hand and lightly caressed Vivian's exposed collarbone. Vivian shrank slightly and innocently looked at him. Charles hugged her tightly and said, "It looks great. Just let me be the only one to see it. You don't need to dress like this for dinner with them. Go and change, be a good girl."
If Vivian continued to interact with him like this, she wouldn't even know how she made it back to the bedroom. She quickly picked up another outfit and changed. Charles' flirting skills were top-notch, while she was still too naive. Vivian sighed in her heart.
This time, the outfit was much better. It was still a small floral print, but she chose a top instead. She wore a pair of dark blue jeans, draped a khaki coat over her arm, and tied her slightly curled hair in a bun. This was her usual style. Charles seemed to have no objections this time. She only changed into the white shoes she wore when she came.
Charles walked over, took the coat from her hand, and draped it over her. "This looks good."
"Alright, as long as you don't find it embarrassing," Vivian pouted.
