Chapter 57 Same as Evelyn
As Vivian listened to his vague words, her brain uncontrollably imagined him being with Lena at that moment, doing something.
Not saying anything, Charles couldn't bear to tease her any longer and said, "I was joking, it's just me."
Vivian was skeptical but remained silent. Charles chuckled and said, "if you are you so worried, then why don't you come and check for yourself?"
Vivian snorted, "Dream on. I won't come find you."
"Alright, anything else?" Charles sounded a bit gloomy.
Vivian simply said no and hung up the phone. After putting down her cellphone, she felt uneasy and turned on the TV. She changed a few channels and unexpectedly saw the drama starring Charles and Lena being aired. Vivian felt that she had to do something. She had been feeling dizzy from Charles' confession, but now she was finally clear-headed.
After all, the other person was Lena, so beautiful and cute. Vivian looked down at herself and deeply felt that she couldn't compare.
Vivian grabbed her phone and wallet, and directly headed to the train station. The direct train was already gone, so after asking around, she had to transfer to another train. Sitting on the train, she still couldn't relax. What if she saw something she shouldn't have seen by rushing over like this?
Vivian comforted herself again, thinking that since she was already on the train!
Of course, Charles had no idea that Vivian had already assumed he was up to no good. After a day of shooting, he was tired and didn't want to move at all. He went straight to bed.
But Vivian didn't have it so easy. Squeezed on the train, surrounded by a group of men playing cards and drinking, she was the only one wearing thin clothes, huddled in her seat, not daring to close her eyes. By the time the train arrived at the station, Vivian was already starving.
During this time, she also received a call from her department supervisor. Trembling, Vivian asked for a five-day leave. It was such a long distance, she needed to rest well in order to regain the energy to climb back.
Finally boarding the second train, she sat next to an elderly lady, and they chatted all the way. Vivian was feeling dizzy and just wanted to sleep. When she got off the train, she quickly ate something to replenish her energy. There was still one last train to take, and she endured the feeling of wanting to vomit, constantly cursing herself in her mind. Was she just rushing to suffer?
Finally arriving at the destination in the afternoon, luckily she met someone who was also going to Napa Valley Hotel.
The crew from film Studios arrived, led by their captain, and saw the little girl looking disheveled, wanting to refuse their visit. After Vivian pleaded, she finally got in the car.
"Now this little girl is really crazy about celebrities. Who do you want to see?"
Vivian gritted her teeth and said, "Charles."
"My daughter likes him too. He's quite handsome. But I heard he already has a girlfriend. I saw it in the newspaper last time, at the airport, holding onto a short girl." The captain casually remarked.
Vivian felt as if she had been struck by lightning. How was she short? It was obvious that he was too tall!
Seeing Vivian's silence, the captain thought she was saddened by it, but he didn't intend to console her. He continued, "But no matter how much you like him, there's no need to look so disheveled!" After saying that, he looked at her with disdain.
Vivian had nothing to say. Several hours later, they finally reached their destination. The kind-hearted captain looked at the darkening sky and said, "Little girl, hurry and call someone to pick you up. It's desolate here when it gets dark."
"Thank you, thank you!" Vivian stood in place, feeling lost. Thankfully, her phone had some charge. She hesitated whether to call him or not. What if he was still on set? But Vivian thought it was time to test him. After all, it was getting dark, and she would really be in trouble.
The call was answered by a young male voice, and now Vivian felt at ease. "Hello! I'm looking for Charles."
"Charles is changing clothes. Please wait." After waiting a while, Vivian heard a brief conversation:
"Charles, you've got a call!"
"Who is it?"
"Well... it's that silly girl."
Vivian was furious. They actually labeled her as a silly girl? But before she could get angry, bursts of laughter came through the phone, followed by Charles picking up the call. It seemed like he found a secluded place. "What's wrong?" Charles was confused. Why was she calling again so soon?
Vivian had originally wanted to question him about the remark, but she thought it would be better to appease him first. "I have prepared a surprise for you. It has already arrived at Napa Valley Film Studios. You'll have to pick it up yourself."
Charles was puzzled, "Where?"
Vivian had to reveal her location, fortunately, she had just asked. "I had someone bring it over. Go and take a look quickly, or it will be too late."
"Alright." Charles agreed.
Vivian wanted to urge him to come quickly, but her phone had automatically shut down. She could only squat on the ground, counting pebbles to help pass the time and her boredom.
Charles followed the crew's car to the place Vivian mentioned. From a distance, he saw a small figure squatting on the ground. In the darkness, it was hard to see clearly. He thought his eyes were tired from filming, or maybe his vision was failing. The car stopped, "Driver, please wait." After saying that, he walked towards the small figure. Vivian noticed and looked at him.
Charles, wearing a thick coat, walked towards her. His excitement was almost teary-eyed, without thinking, he rushed over, disregarding everything else.
When Charles realized it, he had already reached out and embraced her. In fact, at the moment his hand had reached her leg, her own hand had already wrapped around his neck.
The consequence of this position was that Vivian was hanging onto Charles.
In the car behind them, a group of people leaned against the windows, gazing outside. Could this little girl who suddenly appeared be the one they were looking for? Immediately, they all thought of the previous candid photos and started whispering to each other.
Lena was also sitting among the crowd. After taking a quick glance, she immediately sat back down. Is it really her? Her heart was filled with mixed emotions.
Although Charles was usually easy-going, he always treated people with a cold indifference, treating everyone the same, even when he smiled, it didn't feel particularly close. But now, he was hugging a girl on the street.
Vivian also couldn't understand how this happened. Seeing the faces appearing from the car behind her, she just wanted to find a hole to hide in. "I-I-I... didn't mean to."
Charles felt like his image had collapsed. He slowly let her down and said, "Let's go."
Vivian felt as if she was frozen in place, not wanting to get on that car. She kept shaking her head.
Charles couldn't do anything about her, so he turned around, holding her shoulders and squatting down to meet her gaze. "Then wait for me here. I'll talk to them." It was only now that he noticed her thin clothes, so he took off his own coat and put it on her.
Vivian held onto his clothes tightly, nodded, and watched his back. His coat still felt warm. That's nice.
Charles walked towards the car and awkwardly smiled. "Sorry, I have something to attend to. I won't be joining you for dinner tonight."
Someone in the car suggested bringing their family members along, so everyone in the car started clamoring for it. Charles knew that Vivian wouldn't want to go. "Next time then."
Lena felt sorry for him, seeing his awkwardness, so she spoke up. "Don't decline next time." Finally, everyone stopped insisting.
Vivian stood there confused, not knowing what he was feeling. Did he find her annoying? Or did he feel embarrassed? If she had known, she wouldn't have gone through so much trouble to come here. Looking at his expression just now, she didn't surprise or frighten him. How boring.
Charles held her hand, which felt cool, and put it in his pocket. "Look, there's no car now. Let's walk back."
Vivian nodded.
Charles asked her again, "Why did you really come?"
"You told me to come and check, right?" Vivian grumbled.
The sky had completely darkened, and Vivian couldn't see the smile on Charles' lips. She just felt uncomfortable. They had overcome so many obstacles on the way here, and now, his reaction was so minimal. Previously, he was cold, but now he's a little better. But she was really hungry. She turned to look at Charles, even though it was pitch black, she could still see his outline.
"Can't see, I'm so hungry," Vivian muttered.
"What should we do? I can't take you out to eat now," Charles' voice sounded somewhat distressed.
"What? Why not!" Vivian exclaimed.
Even in the darkness, he could accurately find her. Vivian felt something coming towards her, and she knew exactly what it was. She just didn't expect it to happen at this moment.
Charles knew what he wanted and could also sense what she wanted. That was enough, as they were destined for each other.
Vivian tried her best to keep some distance from him. It was late at night, and this inexplicable place with dim light was not suitable at all. Plus, she was really hungry. The key point was that she hadn't brushed her teeth, washed her face, or taken a bath since last night. She was all messy, yet he could still be attracted to her.
"I'm really hungry," Vivian had no choice but to push him away, place her hand on his chest, and repeat again.
"I'm hungry too," Charles said.
Upon hearing that, Vivian was genuinely delighted. "Then let's go quickly! Let's have a meal!"
Charles pulled her back into his embrace and kissed her lips before letting go. "Hmm, I haven't eaten enough yet."
Vivian's face turned red.
Holding hands, Charles led her towards a place with lights ahead. Vivian felt safe, even though she couldn't see anything. When they reached a bright place, Vivian saw people ahead and instinctively let go of his hand.
Charles had no choice but to let her be and brought her back to the hotel. After ordering food, he took her upstairs.
Inside the elevator, Charles lazily leaned against the wall, a smiling expression on his face as he looked at her. His gaze and expression made Vivian blush, feeling completely at a loss.
Vivian tried her best to hide herself within her coat, silently chanting in her heart, "Can't see me, can't see me." She didn't even know when the elevator stopped.
Charles approached her and embraced her before revealing his eyes, showing them as wide and captivating as when they first met.
Charles quickly brought her to his room. As soon as the door opened, Vivian swiftly rushed in, looking around and finding the bathroom. She took off her coat and threw it on the floor, then ran into the bathroom, locked the door, and skillfully proceeded to clean herself in one fluid motion.
Charles picked up her coat, shaking his head helplessly, but his smile grew stronger.
