Chapter 96

Ella

Once seated along our table do Kris and I both move to look over our menus. Alanna seated along with us. The three of us now silent as we each decide on what to order for lunch.

“Hey Ella, what are you ordering for lunch?”

“Um… not sure yet. What about you?”

“I don’t know either”

Glancing to Kris do we both move to giggle. Both of us clearly within the same boat as I move to focus on Alanna. My eyes curious as to what she was getting. “Hey Alanna?”

“Yes little star?”

“What are you getting?”

“Depends. I’ve been told that they make really good burgers here so I’m thinking of having that” offers Alanna. Her eyes still on her menu while her ears listened to those around us to make sure no one was speaking about us.

None of us aware of our surroundings when a waitress moves to approach our table with water. The waitress quick at setting it down near each of us before scurrying away while we were still focused upon the menu.

The sight of the glass now catching my attention as I move to look up only to see no one there. “Odd” I say rather quickly which catches the attention of both Kris and Alanna who both move to see the glasses as well.

“What’s odd girl?”

“This” I say, my hand now pointing towards the water that sat upon the table. Not sure who it was that brought it to us. Kris next to spot the water.

“Girl relax. Most places do that when busy” explains Kris.

“Do what?”

“Set water down before moving onto the next table. Usually its table bussers or someone designed to help the waiter or waitress.”

“But they left without saying a word to us”

“So? Maybe they don’t speak proper English. Maybe they speak Spanish or something. Or maybe their told not to speak to customers. Just be glad someone came and brought us water.”

“Alanna?”

“She’s right little star. Some places do, do that. Especially when there short staffed. They’ll normally have someone else go around with water while the waiter or waitress moved to take orders” explains Alanna, her eyes now on me as we each move to take a sip of our waters.

Mine seeming a bit off but rather than complain I just move to drink the water. A part of me figuring it was just tap water or something like that. Our actual waitress now coming back to our table. A smile along her lips as she moves to speak up.

“Hello. Oh, I see someone managed to come by to give you all water, perfect. Then is there anything else I can get started for you? A different drink perhaps? Or an appetizer while you wait. Maybe your meal?” asks the waitress as she moves to look at each of us.

“I’ll have a coffee, black please” replies Alanna.

“Perfect. And for either of you two ladies?”

“I’ll have a strawberry lemonade” answers Kris with a smile.

“Alrighty then and for you miss?” the waitress now watching me as she waits for my reply.

“I’ll do a Dr. Pepper please” I say before taking another sip of my weird tasting water. Our waitress soon moving to put in our drinks as we continued to look over the menu. My eyes beginning to blur the longer I sat there looking at the menu.

Quick to shake my head do I try refocusing my eyes upon my menu. My head now pounding as I do. My hand soon coming to massage my temple. What is wrong with me all of a sudden? I think. My eyes now on my glass of water that was now half gone.

Kris now trying to get my attention.

“Ella? Hey, are you okay?”

“Huh? Yeah… I just need to…” unable to finish those words do I move to stand up quickly. The movement enough to make me wobble. My body now strange as I attempt to move for the bathroom.

“Ella?”

Unable to speak back do I move to turn from within my chair. The movement enough to make me fall to the ground. My body soon hitting the patio with a thud as does my head. Kris yelling my name before darkness overcomes me right there.

“ELLA!”

Kris

We had just placed our drink order in when Ella began to act weird. Her hand soon moving towards her forehead as if to rub it carefully. The subtle movement enough to draw my attention over to her.

“Ella? Hey, are you okay?”

“Huh? Yeah… I just need to…” was all Ella could get out before standing. Her body on the verge of falling over. Concern rising as I try to grab her attention yet again.

Ella now falling to the patio ground with a smack as her head soon hits the ground. My body instantly shooting up and out of my chair as I move to check on her.

“ELLA!”

Scurrying over to Ella do I move to shake her lightly. Ella now unresponsive. My eyes now scanning her body. “Ella? Answer me please” my body now scared to the point of tears. My voice now crying for help.

“PLEASE! Someone, anyone! Please, someone call us an ambulance. Hurry! She’s possibly pregnant as well”

At the sound of my voice do people all move to whip out their phones. Many people now recording the scene before them while others attempted to call 911. Alanna now instantly by our side.

“Easy Kris. Help will be here soon”

Scanning the area does Alanna move to spot Ella’s water glass. Her glass half empty as we had just placed our physical drinks thus leaving us with only water. Alanna quick to sniff the glass only to throw it towards the ground and away from both of us.

“Shit”

Alarmed by her tone do I move to look over to her. “What? What is it Alanna?”

“Her water. Someone laced it with something. There was a trace of it within her water”

“What?”

“Yes. I’m afraid so. Hopefully though she didn’t digest much or else we’d be in bigger trouble. But regardless of how much she drank it’s still the matter of what she consumed. And if it’s potentially harmful to her and the baby.”

“NO! That can’t be right. Ella…. ELLA! Please… Stay with me Ella. Don’t leave me please” I cry. My voice still pleading to her in an attempt to get her to speak to me. The sound of sirens blaring in the distance now telling me help was on the way.

*Author Note: Well… here’s a nice little cliffhanger for you all…who do you all think was the mystery waiter? And what did Ella consume? Also I know this isn’t 7 chapters, but I do plan to post again later today once I have the other 4 chapters written for you all. Until then, bye.*
