Chapter Eighteen
I didn't let my curiosity get to me, I had seen a lot going on already, I wasn't ready to compound my problems by doing what Keddy asked me not to. Whatever it was hidden there could stay there for as long as it wanted to, I wasn't worried about it. Maybe a bomb, maybe the gun I had been looking for, maybe his biggest secret, but I wasn't bulging to the temptation. I was yielding to the hunger I felt.
I jumped down the bed and made it out of Keddy's bedroom in a few seconds. I was standing in the hallway. Keddy never got to show me around, or the way to the kitchen. But I knew I would eventually.
Sooner than I had expected, I stumbled across the kitchen. Luckily, I found it without having to go into any of Keddy's friends' bedrooms.
I had no time to admire the kitchen, I was starving and I needed to fix something I could eat. I was in the cupboard, looking for what I could cook. I found floor, sugar, baking powder, yeast and some other things that inspired me to make pancakes.
I love pancakes, so do virtually everyone in the universe. Who wouldn't love my signature pancakes?
It was always complimented as the most beautiful anyone had ever tasted.
I had come to the kitchen with my phone, so I turned on the music and began to dance to the beats of my favorite artist while I kneaded the dough.
Finally, for the first time since I became an adult, I was having a normal day. Not like any day in my life has ever been normal, but it felt better when I didn't know my father's true colors. Now that I do, and I'm on the run from his mates and him… All I want to do is find peace, and begin to live a normal life.
In two hours, I was done with the pancakes. It didn't take that much time when I was making for just Pedro and I, but I was making for more than one mouth. Myself, Keddy and his friends… Whoever they were. I was unsure how many they were, but I knew they were more than five of them, so I made enough to go round for six people.
I settled down at the dining table to have what would be the first decent meal I have had since yesterday afternoon. I drank milk with it, and munched carelessly since I was alone in the entire building. Usually, I have no appetite for meals that I make, but this time round… I just couldn't help but keep stuffing my face with pancakes. I ate more than I ever have. Probably because I was really famished, or because this one tasted uniquely well cooked. When I was done with the meal, I headed for the sink to clean the dirty dish.
"Hello…" A masculine voice echoed into the living room, I knew that wasn't Keddy. I moved closer to the door that joined the living room with the kitchen, and peeped at him. He was probably one of Keddy's friends. He got into the house without knocking, and I was sure the door was locked, I knew I was locked inside the house, and it would be impossible for me to leave, even if I wanted to. But this stranger definitely had a key, there was no way anyone would make it into this house without a spare key. I kept my gaze steady on his face. I have seen him somewhere before, I just can't recall where.
I began slowly on my way back to the kitchen. With a tiptoe, I strode back. Unsure of what his reaction would be if he saw me peeping at him. However, unknown to me, he saw me. And as if he had read my thoughts, he called out to me. "Camilla!"
Gush, he saw me. Why would Keddy go as far as telling them my name? I turned to face him.
"You really have forgotten me, Camilla!"
