Chapter Thirty

The rest of the day was boring, except the part where Keddy showed up in front of our house and knocked.
Nancy got the door, I was in the living room with my phone, taking selfies. Eleanor and Vivian were buried in romance novels, it seemed like the books I detested when I was here alone were theirs.
Before Keddy had showed up looking haggard in front of our door, I recall asking Eleanor if she was enjoying the book. "Of course, Cammie. I'm a total book worm, and a big fan of romance books too"
"That means you believe in love?" I couldn't help but ask.
"Love is a beautiful thing and I believe that someday, I will meet my mister right."
"Or Mrs right." Vivian corrected her. It seemed obvious that Vivian was a lesbian. One of the instructions she gave me was that I wasn't allowed to date a guy, and I was wondering if she had given Eleanor the same instruction.
"I think love is meant to be between a guy and a girl. I really do not understand what two ladies would be doing together in love, that's just creepy." Eleanor defended her beliefs.
"Not this talk again." Vivian was not in the mood for the argument. "I already told you that nothing would change my perspective about guys. I dated a guy once and he screwed up. I'm dating a lady now and she is the best."
"It's wrong to judge all by one." Eleanor wasn't giving up on trying to convince Vivian that she was right. I watched both parties argue, my opinions bottled to myself. And then Keddy had interrupted the conversation, to the relief of Nancy and I. Well it wouldn't have been a relief if I knew he was the one knocking.
"Go check who is knocking." Vivian motioned on Nancy.
She nodded, dropping her phone on the couch were she was sitting, she made for the door.
"I think it's Kate." Eleanor sounded very optimistic. She seemed very close to Kate, and it appeared like she was missing her already.
"I hope so." Vivian kept her gaze on the door, finally distracted from the book she was reading. It was a lesbian romance novel and she seemed so engrossed in it.
"Hello, good day." The door was half open, Nancy peered through it.
We didn't hear the stranger's response, but we heard Nancy. "Yh, who are you?"
She paused again, before speaking. "Okay." She giggled lightly, and then said. "Let me ask my boss, I'll get back to you." She shut the door behind her and returned to her former position.
"Who was that?" Vivian didn't wait for her to get close before bombarding queries at her.
"His name is Keddy." I gasped and prayed that it would be a different Keddy.
"I have heard that name before." Vivian stared away into space, tapping the base of the sofa lightly at intervals, as if it helped her think better. After a few minutes of clueless brainstorming, she asked Nancy. "What does he want?"
"He said he is looking for a lady he is in love with, that he is certain his tracker leads him here, but he is unsure if he is correct."
"What did he say her name is?" Vivian gazed at Eleanor with a frown, Eleanor nodded innocently, her eyes spoke the words in her heart, 'I don't know any keddy.'
"He didn't tell me. He said he might be wrong, and then he left."
"Hmmm." Vivian stared at me for a prolonged period, and then at Nancy and at Eleanor. "Remember the rules, you are not allowed to date a guy!" He voice was enough to send shivers down my spine, but it didn't. She walked into the kitchen, probably to fix lunch. Leaving me to my thoughts, Eleanor to her romance shit, and Nancy to her phone.
I was really nervous that Keddy might have called my name, and grateful when Nancy said he didn't. I was going to deal ruthlessly with Keddy if I encounter him, but I wasn't going to kill him.
He didn't deserve to die, not when he went out of his way to keep me safe. Even though his plan didn't work, I was grateful that he tried. He seemed genuine and if there was any male in the whole world that I would hesitate to shoot, it'd be Keddy.
But why was he out here trying to get me caught?
Why couldn't he just move on?
Maybe he was trying to make sure I was safe. He wouldn't know I was back to social media, since my phone was at his house. Even if he knew, I didn't tell him my social media handles.
But somehow, I needed to meet with him and tell him that I was fine. I needed to meet with him and warn him to stay away from me, I needed to meet with him and thoughts of that sent a tingle in my belly. One that felt strange, one that I couldn't help but dream of looking into his two dreamy eyes.
What was I doing?
I slapped my forehead and jolted back to my reality.
Camilla, you are a mafia gangster, a member of the Mafia sisters, soon to be queen of the Mafia gangsters. You are meant to think about how to make the next operation successful, and not how to meet with another of that dreadful gender.
Yes, I was going to make sure that my plan worked. So that I'd be the most respected and feared Mafia Gangsters in the whole city. And not fantasize life with another one of these demons who want nothing but to exploit me.
I replayed pictures of the painful nights I spent at my father's house, and that served as a reminder to the fact that I was meant to hate guys.
Hate them enough to kill them all, hate them enough to play them, hate them enough to amputate my father's genital organ.
But not enough to let Keddy keep wandering in search of me.
I was going out to the streets right now, to meet him and tell him that I was fine.
And then tell him to stop searching for me, that he'd get me into trouble. I couldn't wait to meet him, it was going to be the last time, a snappy visit. And then I would never see him again.
If only I knew the interesting plot twist ahead.
