Chapter Thirty Nine
Knock-knock! I hammered on the door with my clenched fists, my other hand rested on my waist.
I was close enough to hear everything going on inside the house. The loud music, screams, yelling, I wasn't surprised. My sisters were extremely noisy people, always neglecting the fact that they are gangsters.
When I was a few feet away, everything seemed calm. But the moment I stepped on the foot mat, it felt like an entirely different world.
I loved that mechanism so much. You would be unable to hear anything going on inside the base of the Mafia sisters, until you are at the door step.
I heard footsteps approaching the door, and I knew someone had heard my desperate pounding.
"Argh!" Nancy hopped on my body, pegging me. That was the first time anyone was doing anything like that to me, I felt slightly uncomfortable, but I grinned anyways. "Cammie." She screamed even louder than before. Eleanor and a tired Vivian emerged. "You came back really soon. We thought you were going to take maybe, days. Or say weeks. But you were gone for just a few hours. It was successful, right?"
I nodded. "Come on, let's go inside." I led the way, and an excited Nancy followed closely. Kate was the last to come out, a disappointed look on her face.
"What happened? I want to hear every single detail. But before then, did you find their base?"
I nodded yes. Admiring the excitement that their expressions wore. Vivian seemed like she had been sleeping all day, she appeared alarmingly weak, I wanted to ask her what happened as well. But I needed to provide answers to the questions of my queen, and I needed to do that fast.
"Now tell me, how did you go about it? You know you never told us the plan. I want to hear the whole thing." She sunk Into a sofa nearest to the door, and stared at me.
What was I going to tell her?
I went to see my attendant friend, who turned out to be my mother. After I met with her, and she told me about her being my mum, I called Shully to inform her. Would you believe that Shully has both cancer and kidney failure?
That's not all.
My mother and I went together to the base of the Sherlock Head Mafia Gangsters, the place were their lord is at. And we explored it. Actually, no one saw us, because my mum knows the days when their lord is away from their base.
I don't know how she knows all of this, but I spent almost the whole day having fun with her. And then we explored the base, and I came back.
"Cammie?" Vivian called weakly.
"My queen."
"We want to hear the full gist."
"Okay, well I have so much to say, I barely know where to start from." I racked my mind for a lie. "Would you believe I met the lord of the sherlock head mafia gangsters?" Vivian gasped, Nancy's eyes widened, Eleanor cupped her mouth with both hands, and even Kate who had been pretending like she wasn't interested in what we were saying adjusted on her sofa.
That was an expensive lie. It would be impossible to keep up with it. Now they would want to know what he looked like, and how I got out alive, and why he didn't kill me.
"Are you s-e-r-i-o-u-s?" Vivian was the first to find her voice. She pushed closer to me, and a smirk played out on her face. "Did you by any chance get the job done?" What job? Killing the lord of the sherlock head mafia gangsters? How was she expecting an Eighteen years old to tackle such a monster, whoever the hell he was, by herself.
"Almost!" I went on with the lie. "I almost ended his life. But he was really tough to battle with, and I had to escape. I am so glad I made it back here, alive."
Eleanor calmly gazed at me, unbelief spelt out in her eyes. I continued in my attempt to make the lie even more believable. "Pedro and Job almost caught me on my way out, but I'm such a great sprinter. Just like I did the last time, I outran them"
"That's quite impressive." Vivian clapped merrily. I knew she was going to ask me more questions, so I asked her questions instead.
"Vivian, why do you seem so pale? Did you sleep all day?"
She sighed. "I slept like I was drugged. I couldn't help it. I tried as much as I could to wake up, to no avail. I might have to see a doctor if this continues." I turned to Kate, and gave her a soul piercing stare.
"Do you by any chance know what's going on?" I asked bitterly.
"What do you mean?"
"Don't play games with me. What did you put in my breakfast? Speak quickly, or I'll produce the video I have." I had no video, but I knew it would Sacre her.
Kate sounded scared now. "It's nothing that can kill, I swear." She pleaded desperately. Eleanor who was as confused as the rest of the sisters spoke up. "What did you put in her breakfast, Kate?" She was obviously very disappointed.
"Sleeping pills." Kate sounded guilty, but it was already too late to plead. "I didn't want her dead, I just wanted her to sleep the whole day. So that Vivian would get mad at her. I felt bad when I saw Vivian sleeping, but there was nothing I could do."
Vivian's jaw dropped. "So, I ate the meal meant for Cammie?" She looked at me, then at Kate. Kate nodded nervously.
"I'm sorry queen."
Vivian stood, anger spelt out on her face. "Eleanor!!!" She yelled with every strength left in her.
"Yes, my queen." Eleanor genuflected.
"Get me the constitution." Eleanor genuflected again, before leaving.
Kate was already kneeling to plead, tears flowed freely.
"Nancy..."
"My queen." Nancy bowed lightly.
"Get me the execution materials."
