Chapter forty nine
"Camilla, I ran into your father while I went to fix my car this afternoon. I saw him trying to drag some young girls into his van. You know how crime is almost legal in this city, especially when it's done by his gang? Well, I personally don't think that he was forced into any of these anymore. You are right. He is enjoying all of this. If you want to, go ahead and kill him. I am so disappointed. The pain in the eyes of those girls broke my heart, I just couldn't imagine how you felt when he did all of that to you."
"I have heard you mum, let's talk about this later. I'm kind of busy now, have a nice day." I hung up the phone, and shifted my gaze from the wallpaper on the wall of the room to those grey eyes that I still found attractive.
"That was rude," Sandra returned the stare. "It's not cute to hang up on your mum like that, but I wouldn't blame you. You recently found out about her." She didn't wait for me to respond, she quickly changed the topic. "About my contract. You have to either sign this or sign it."
"I already said that I will not sign it. As you can see, I have torn the contract. What's next? Is this the part where you pop by skull open, or the part where you leave me in a room to die?" As soon as I said that, I regretted it. Because it seemed like I had just given her ideas.
"Like I said, I wouldn't want to kill a mine of potentials like you. So, thanks for the awesome suggestion. I'm going to leave you in here for three days, with no food and no water. As you know, I'll be monitoring all your actions from my bedroom so you better not think of doing anything stupid." I sighed. What was I thinking when I said that. "Unless you are willing to sign the contract now, then we can skip this torture and get to the fun part"
"Fun part?" I didn't know there was a fun part of a kidnap. "What that?"
She gave me one of those her extremely irritating giggles, before slamming the door behind her. "I guess you'll never know."
I sighed, and began to look around what would be my prison room. For the next few months, my movement was restricted. I had to stay in here until I was willing to sign the contract.
That didn't change the fact that she had those grey eyes on me.
Even while I was in here, I needed to be extremely cautious. I sighed and began to explore the room. Finally taking my time to scan the building.
It was beautiful and with a great interior. Whoever did the decor did a great job. Most of the things in it were pink. Prove that it was prepared for a female.
I got bored really quickly looking around, and I settled on the bed, which was close to the window. Although this was some underground structure, I had an excellent view of the town from the window.
Coincidentally, I saw my father returning. His car stood out from the many others that drove past. I watched him park the car safely in a corner, I watched him scan the street for onlookers, and I watched him steal into the base of their gang.
I no longer saw that joy and satisfaction in his eyes, all I could see was grief. I watched him until he was out of sight completely.
I then busied myself watched people go about their normal business. Roughly two hours later, I saw job and Pedro drive in.
Just like my father had done, they parked at a safe distance and while scanning the environment for spies, they snuck down the passage that led to this world.
It didn't take long before gazing through the window got boring too. Left with nothing else to do, and coupled with the fact that I was feeling exhausted, I lay down to catch some shut eyes. The last few weeks, have taught me a huge lesson. Overthinking was never the solution to any problem.
It didn't take long before I fell asleep, and I dreamt about my father and nancy in a little ferry. A few other people who I was unable to recognize was with them as well in the little boat. My mum, Keddy, Sandra and a lot others were by the side of the sea wailing uncontrollably.
My mum kept telling my father how risky it was to travel by a ferry, in the sea especially because the wind was extreme.
No sooner had they set off on their way than they drowned. We all continued crying until I woke from the short sleep.
A knock on the door helped clear my bleary eyes. Who was knocking? Didn't I have over sixty hours left?
I stood and swiftly unbolted the door. Sandra stood outside, looking pretty and glaring at me.
"You changed your mind?" I asked with excitement. I had already gotten worried on how I was going to survive all that time with no food, water or supplies.
"Lol, no!" She laughed hysterically, leaning on the wall she stood by. "I have a news from Shully for you."
My heart skipped a beat. "What could it be?" My voice was very dry now.
She observed my facial expression carefully before responding. "It seems you love her so much?" I couldn't find my voice to give her a response, I nodded.
"Awwn, well it might interest you to know that she's awake now." Good news, I thought and sighed with relief.
"But actually, the message said to tell you that the donor did not make it. I think the name is Nancy, and she is dead. Her death wish was to send you a reminder of your promise to her."
