Chapter fifty seven

When I woke up, I was in an entirely different world.
Everything that happened before I felt the black out was beginning to come back to me. The plot, the escape, the sad stories, the shootings, the fight...
I was supposed to still be in my mum's office, but the environment where I woke up in felt different. It seemed like I had been magically transported to a completely dark room. A direct contrast of where I had dozed at.
I tried moving, but I realized that my both arms were tied to my back.
I was in the middle of a room, with no source of lightning. It was hard to say if it was night already, or if the lights were off.
I blinked multiple times, trying hard to get my eyes to adjust to the darkness.
An attempt to move my feet proved that my feet were tied to the chair as well.
I was beginning to perspire. A foul stench was coming from a direction that I couldn't trace, and it made the fact that my tummy was hurting worse.
I was also feeling severe body cramps, every part of my body was itching. I was yet to have breakfast, if my thoughts were right, then it had been forty eight hours since I last ate.
It didn't take long before I traced where the smell was coming from, I had completely forgotten that I was on my period, and I was loosing so much blood, it made sense.
I had no pads nor tampons on, everything about my body began to irk me.
"Anyone here???" I called out desperately. "Somebody help!" I was speaking to the silence, and it responded with irritating silence. It seemed like it was mocking me.
I began to tug on the rope that was used to tie my wrists, and when it was obvious that I was wasting my time, I gave up. "Anyone here?" I was in a room with no lights, I couldn't remember how I got here, and I was with no source of aid whatsoever.
Sandra was responsible for this, no doubts. I cursed under my breath. "Fuck you, Sandra."
Everything was wrong with me, and this was the last place I wanted to be at. Yet, I had ended up in here, with no choice.
I tried hard to recall being moved to this place, but when nothing was coming back to my memories, I gave up.
Instead of focusing on how I got here, I decided to think about more relevant things. So, I got focused on how to leave here. If only I could see where I was in, I would be able to think of a way out
But in here, it was a total blackout. One that could be likened to complete darkness.
I felt like I was blind. There was no difference in shutting my eyes and leaving it open, I was still unable to see.
Unable to move, unable to walk, unable to think straight.
My lips weren't tied though, neither was my nose. I also had my ears working perfectly fine. Only one thing left to do. That was to use the sensory organs available.
So I tried screaming for help. This was my second attempt and hopefully, it would birth better results than the first.
"Anyone there?????" I was calling at the top of my lungs. "Somebody help!!!!!" I kept yelling into the open space. Listening to my voice echo meant that the room I was in, was definitely empty.
That answered one of my questions, which was that I was no longer in my mum's office. There was a shelf of books, and a lot of other things in her room, it was impossible for an echo as loud as this to be made in it.
When it became obvious that screaming wasn't helping, I had to think of another way out.
I shut my eyes for a few minutes, trying hard to ignore the stench and foul smell.
I was literally "bleeding," the amount of blood leaving my body made my head ache as well. The hunger that I felt wasn't helping either, but I was determined to think.
I made another attempt to distract myself from the body cramps caused by the fight, and from everything going on around me.
I was beginning to hear the whistling of insects and chirping of birds.
Another question was answered, it wasn't daytime. Since my arrival, I have noted that due to the high crime rate in the city, most vehicles do not move at night. So it made sense that instead of hearing the reeving of engines, all I could hear was insects and birds.
I was gradually putting pieces of the puzzle together, and it was beginning to make sense.
I tried again to listen, and I was unable to pick anything else from the environment.
My head spinned, I was still beginning to see stars.
"Camilla, calm down!" I said aloud, tired of trying to focus. I was loosing focus and getting distracted by everything going on.
I needed to think of a way out, and fast. I had a feeling that I was going to pass out soon.
"There has to be a way out." I repeated more slowly now.
"There's none." A masculine voice barked at me.
I didn't hear a door creak open, so it was obvious that he had been in here with me all along.
I don't think I have ever heard that voice my whole life, I wrinkled my face in disbelief.
"Who are you?" I asked with a shaky voice.
"Guess!" The voice was really deep. Although my eyes were open, I couldn't see any figure moving in front of me. So he was definitely behind me.
"Guess, Camilla, you'll definitely be awed to know who it is."
He repeated more slowly, providing me with enough clues to guess who he was.
I had never heard anything like it before, it was a stranger's voice.
"I came for my chunk of flesh, Cammie."
