CHAPTER 21
OLIVIA'S POV.
The sound of tires screeching through the road woke me up from the peaceful sleep I was having. The jostling of the car alerted me to the fact that we were on the road; I and whoever was driving. My head hurt and the smell of the fumes from the vehicle made me feel nauseated and I covered my mouth in fear that I might lose my breakfast or lunch or whichever it was I had before those people had abducted me.
Remembering that little fact made me open my eyes so fast, my eyes teared up from the effect. I looked around at the interior part of the vehicle I was in and I saw that it was a battered pickup van that looked like it was better situated to be at the scrap home for metals and cars.
When the vehicle hit another bump, I began to panic. Who were those people that were in the vehicle with me? I thought to myself. Even though I was hearing voices, I couldn't place a face on them since those people were at the front of the car and there was something like a shield preventing me from seeing them.
I sat up and wiped away the beads of sweat that had covered my face. It was all my fault for getting captured. If I hadn't gone out for a stroll or fresh air or whatever I had said at that moment, I wouldn't have gotten captured by these people and caught in the situation I was currently finding myself in. A situation that could be even worse than I was already in. Right now, only the moon goddess can tell whatever the plans of my abductors were.
Fear crippled me, freezing every muscle of my body as I kept asking myself if that was truly the end that would happen to me. Have I escaped from my father only to meet a fate crueler than the ones that I thought that I ran away from? True, I suffered a lot when I was with the man who called himself my father. The numerous beating crusades my father and my brother held for me, the rolls and rolls of sleepless nights, and having to live in the servant's quarter instead of the main house.
The many hours of them trying to determine if I was worth leaving alone to live even as the lowliest being in the pack. The many days of dread I had to plead with my father not to sell me off or give me to a man to molest me for a token. The nights of the full moon and shifting were another set of days I wished they never existed because I was always the target of those big wolves who were bullies in nature.
They would either use me as practicing targets, each of them circling me always made me feel like I was the prey they were hunting for. Perhaps, I was truly their prey since they would sneer and bark at me, their wolfish golden eyes breathing fire at me. Most of the time, they would leave me alone after scaring me for a while. But on days when there were little catches, they would take out their anger on me by biting me in several places.
Because they were always threatened my wolf during the shift, it grew afraid and cowered away at the back of my head. Worse, I could never communicate with it no matter how hard I tried. It was another of the reasons why the woman who gave birth to me hated me so much. It was the reason why the servants looked down on me too much also and why they never did whatever I asked them to do. I mean who wants to respect the girl even her family didn't want and she still couldn't communicate with her wolf?
But at least, back at home, I fed on time and I was still under the protection of both the Alpha of my pack and my father's position in the pack. Annoying as my brother was, the position he held still helped me. Otherwise, I'm sure I would have been dead in the hands of the bullies of the pack. I meant that even though I was always battered, they never inflicted wounds on me that would lead to my death.
Even under Alpha Leo's guardian, I was much more comfortable. It was only when I first arrived that he didn't trust me not to try and escape, he encompassed me with guards. He provided everything I wanted and needed. Ranging from food, clothing, protection, a phone that has an internet connection and tons of books on it, then some more hardcover books. What was even better was not having to wake up everyone to someone shouting my name.
Seeing as my life was a lot better at the Blue Blood pack, I was already determined within myself to be on my best behavior around my new master and I have been for about two weeks now. The only problem I had with Alpha Leo was how he kept trying to mate with me at every little chance he got. I loathed how he would come to my room in the middle of the night and try to force himself on me.
After he had done it thrice in a roll, I began to close my door. Of course, I had been very afraid of what he would do to me the first time I locked the door, but when he only laughed the morning of the next day, I continued to lock the door. Besides, he stopped coming to my room and would only flirt with me during the day during the little time we spent together.
The car jostled again, throwing me up from my seat before returning me back to my original position. I shook my head as I reminded myself that I was still in the vehicle of whoever had stolen me. I was also reminded of the fact that they were taking me to somewhere I knew nothing about or even knew where it was.
No!! I shouted within myself. I couldn't die like this. I couldn't leave the world without any achievement and fulfillment. I still had a long list of things I wanted to achieve before a certain age at intervals. I had another list of things I would like to try out and places I would like to visit. So, if there was one thing I knew clearly about my current situation, it would be that I wasn't dying so easily.
I've faced worse situations than this current one and I had come out of it triumphantly; I could do the same with this also. With that determination in mind, I got up from where I sat. I held a part of the vehicle for support with a hand and began to slap the barricade between me and my abductor, only stopping at intervals to listen for voices or anything to give me a clue that I've been heard.
When I didn't hear any response from them, I switched my tactics.
"Hey! Stop the vehicle!! Open the door!!!," I shouted into the vehicle, my voice echoing because of the enclosed space.
No matter how deaf they were, they would not be able to act like they didn't hear all that echoing. My thoughts were confirmed when the car swerved to a side just before the engine died. I smiled to myself, took a battle stance, and I waited for the door to be opened. When it opened, the glaring light from the sun disappeared into my eyes and I shut them.
A loud chuckle from one of my kidnappers made me squint my eyes at them. When I saw a woman and two men staring at me intently, I flung my eyes open and gasped in shock. Who were they? And what do they want? When the woman stretched her hand, I took a step backward, afraid that she was going to hit me for causing a ruckus. When she chuckled again, I became embarrassed.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you." The only woman in the group said to me.
I cocked my left brow at her before inquiring from her, "What does taking someone without their consent mean?"
The woman had the grace to blush a little in shame and that gave me some satisfaction. It also gave me some clues that whoever the people in front of me were, they were not after killing me. Even though I know there are fates that are worse than being dead, I relaxed a little.
"You have no right to talk, woman!" One of the men barked at me.
"Shh. Don't be disrespectful to her. Remember who she is? Besides, we've been warned not to make her feel uncomfortable in any way." The woman warned the man who had raised his voice at me.
They've been warned not to treat me rudely? I thought. By who? What does the person want from me that requires stealing me away from Alpha Leo?
"I'm Niamh." The woman said as an introduction.
"Okay, Niamh. Do you mind telling me why I am in this kind of mess?" I asked the woman, eyeing her for body language that would let me know if I should fully relax.
"Alpha Julian, who I am an omega to asked us to bring you safely to the packhouse mansion." The woman said as an explanation.
I fingered-comb my tousled hair for a few seconds while processing the information the woman had just passed on to me. Alpha Julian? Was he the blue-eyed man I had seen in Alpha Leo's office before? The one who had made my heart skip beats and had made my stomach flutter like a million butterflies were dancing around in them?
I cleared my throat and looked at the woman squarely in the face, "Is he the man that visited Alpha Leo a few days ago?" I asked blatantly.
"Yes. And I'm sure you know he is your mate and not Leo." The woman answered my question.
I shrugged at the point she gave out.
"We were on our way to his house before you stopped us." The woman said with a disapproving tone.
"Why don't we switch positions and you tell me if you wouldn't have reacted even worse than I did?" I fired back at her angrily.
The woman raised her hands in surrender. "I merely followed instructions." She said.
"Why did you all have to kidnap me though?" I asked her because I was still battling over that little detail.
"Because we weren't sure that you would come with us peacefully if we ask and we didn't want to alert Alpha Leo about our intentions." The woman replied with a silly grin on her face.
I looked at the woman and she raised a brow at me in a very funny way. I relaxed and shared in the joke even though I was the recipient. When she chuckled again, I laughed out loud. When I was calm, I looked at the woman who said she was the omega and I could understand why she was chosen for that role. She was somebody one could easily trust. The fact that I liked her already confirmed that thought.
"Well, we still need to get to the packhouse mansion, don't we? Or do you guys live on the road?" I asked her with a mischievous tone.
She chuckled and waved her right hand in front of herself. "Of course not." She answered.
I got down from the back of the vehicle and looked at her.
"I'm not staying in there again," I told Niamh, pointing to where I had just gotten down from.
"Alright. You can stay at the front with me while these two men travel back with us, seated at the back." The omega conceded.
"Good. Let's go," I told her and left for the passenger seat without turning back to look at the two men whose angry stares felt like I wouldn't be seeing the next sunrise if it were up to them.
