CHAPTER 33

OLIVIA'S POV
When I woke up, I felt giddy from the previous day's celebration. I had been treated better than I could've ever imagined and Julian made sure I was comfortable through it all.
Honestly, I did not like that I was introduced to everyone so suddenly but after everything went out smoothly, I had a good night's sleep.
I stretched my limbs and didn't feel the need to stay in bed for another hour. One would think if I left my pack, the first thing I would do in my home was sleep but here I was, feeling upbeat and excited.
My body was also strong and energetic, if I laid in my bed for more hours. I would only be sleeping away the loads of energy I had.
I skidded into the bathroom and started my morning routine. Brush teeth, shower, skincare.
My fingers played with the well-tailored dresses in the closet as I decided on what to wear.
The green plain dress that was comfy as hell or the peach that looked incredibly light and silky?
I slipped into the former and prepared myself. I didn't have a make-up kit- I never had one but being under Julian's care made me want to own one.
There were many pretty girls in his pack. Even though I was his mate and he could pretty much die for me, the least I could do was look pretty for him.
I applied lip balm on my lips and gleefully cascaded down the stairs. I didn't see any maids on the way which was a bit weird.
I headed downstairs and started to pick up on some noise which I couldn't quite make up what it was about.
I headed into the kitchen, anticipating some kind of argument but what I saw next sent me into a frenzy.
Vanessa was being pushed around and beaten by the women surrounding her. Vanessa didn't show any sign of pain, she looked numb but I knew better.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
The pushing around stopped and when the girls turned around to look at me with a bow, Vanessa fell onto the floor weakly.
"WHAT WERE YOU DOING TO HER?!"
I walked past the group who looked scared at the sight of me. I bent over to look at Vanessa and my heart broke when I saw a single tear roll down her cheek.
"Vanessa," I called out softly while urging her to stand but she wouldn't move.
"Luna," a voice called behind me and when I turned around, it was the brunette that tried to bully Vanessa on my first day here.
I immediately grew a disliking for her.
"What the hell did Vanessa do to you guys? What?!" I was pissed, losing all of my shits and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
"Luna," The brunette bowed her head, "We didn't mean to go too far but Vanessa was caught stealing pastries."
I scoffed, "Only that? Is that why you all ganged up against her? What if she had died!"
"Luna," The brunette kept her head bowed, "We weren't going to beat her to death. Look at her, she has no injuries."
I took a glance at Vanessa.
The brunette was right but I didn't give a fuck. Just because she wasn't bleeding didn't mean it didn't hurt.
"I don't care!" I yelled, my voice shaky at the end.
"From now on," I said angrily, looking into every single one of their guilty eyes.
"VANESSA WILL ONLY SERVE ME!" I gritted my teeth while feeling the possessive sides of me push through. I didn't know where it was from but I didn't give a fuck. All I knew was that I had to protect Vanessa from their hypocritical stares and hateful glares.
I felt someone clutch my fingers and when I looked behind me, it was Vanessa. She was shaking her head at me, telling me not to bother with her.
She must not know the other side of me which was persistent.
I grabbed her wrist with my other hand, then I gently lifted her so she was standing on her feet.
"Are you okay?" I scanned her body for scars that I might've overlooked the first time and luckily, I didn't see anyone.
"I've already made my point," I told them before grabbing Vanessa and dragging her along with me.
We headed out of the kitchen and I started calling Julian's name. I had no idea where he was, but I trust that he would find me.
"Julian?" I cascaded up the stairs while everyone in the house started coming out of their rooms to watch me make a scene.
"JULIAN!"
"Olivia," I heard his response and I followed his voice. He was standing at the top of the stairs, looking sexy as always.
He had an indignant look on his face as he cascaded down the stairs to meet me. It took about ten minutes until he was finally in front of me and when I saw him, close up, my heart recklessly skipped a beat.
"Yes?" He answered.
"Vanessa was bullied by her peers. Do you just allow bullying in your pack?!"
Julian looked at me in surprise. I saw flashes of sadness as he looked at me and it made me feel sad that I caused him to feel that way but I stood my ground.
"I-i," Julian looked at me, "I do not condone bullying in my pack, I promise."
I had enough experience to know that words held no weight, only action did.
"Then explain what I saw in the kitchen?"
Julian swallowed the lump in his throat as I put him under scrutiny, "What did you see in the kitchen?" He asked and I could see in his eyes that he genuinely wanted to hear my words and that alone was enough to set my mind at ease.
"In the kitchen, Vanessa was being tossed around and beaten by her fellows."
Julian looked at Vanessa who was standing next to me with her eyes focused on the ground.
"Who is responsible for what happened to Vanessa?"
My heart thudded proudly in my chest. He knew her name even though she was a minority in his pack, that alone, made me feel that he was reliable.
I looked behind me and felt a little creeped out at the crowd that had gathered behind us.
Yesterday, I was celebrated by every single one of them and I hoped they wouldn't think that I was doing too much all of a sudden.
But right now, I didn't care.
I just wanted to hear Julian's words.
I turned around to look at the group of familiar faces that were bowing in front of us. "We're the ones who beat Olivia." The mean brunette said on behalf of the whole group.
"My Luna," Julian told me and my heart pounded in my chest as he gave me a serious look. Did he also recognize me as his Luna?
The look in his eyes told me he did and there was no reason to doubt.
"How do you want to punish the culprits?"
"Just have them do the entire laundry for a week. But Vanessa, she'll be my maid from now on." I said loudly, "Anyone who touches her will be punished."
I looked at Julian who stared back at me, "It is settled then."
Without waiting for another word, the group scurried off, probably to the laundry room.
I wondered if I had been too light on them.
"Luna," It was Julian calling me that and he had a smile etched on his face.
"Yes Alpha?" I was hiding my smile.
"Good job today."
I blushed furiously upon hearing his praise.
"I'm glad you're here, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to spot the bullying, I'm sorry about that." Julian looked at Vanessa whose gaze was still fixated on the floor. "I'm sorry to Vanessa, if anything like this happens again..."
"Since I'm now responsible for Vanessa, she should tell me if anything bad happens to her. You should focus on what you can do best," I wiggled my brows at him and smiled, "Alpha." While giving him a dramatic bow.
"Thank you Alpha, Thank you, Luna." Vanessa bowed and I nodded at her.
Julian laughed and ruffled my hair, "Then, I'll see you later."
I nodded and watched as he took off, leaving me alone with Vanessa. The crowd also dispersed to do their own thing.
Vanessa looked much more comfortable after they left.
"How are you feeling?" I asked as she let out a huge sigh.
She looked at me with teary eyes and embraced me which caught me off-guard. She cried into my shoulder and I hugged her back, rubbing soothing circles on her back.
It must have been hard for her until now.
In my pack, I had no one to save me, it was always torture and torture but when I saved Vanessa, it felt like I saved myself.
After a few moments, Vanessa was still hugging me, her face now resting on my bosoms. Did she need to be comforted that much?
If so, then she could take her time.
Vanessa took a few more minutes before letting go of me, "You're the moon goddess in form of an angel!"
My eyes widened, what the hell was she saying?
"No Blasphemy against the moon goddess please."
"It's true!" Vanessa insisted, "I hugged you just now and I felt alright."
"No, I think you finally calmed down from the bullying you went through in the kitchen, don't compare me to the moon goddess."
Vanessa nodded but didn't say anything else.
"Would you like to have anything?"
"Yes yes!" I suddenly remembered that I wanted to cook some meals but it seemed the kitchen already made some.
Either way, I could make some extra food for breakfast to apologize for the morning's pandemonium that was caused me.
"Let's go to the kitchen!" I said with a smile on my face.
Vanessa smiled, "Okay."
As we skidded to the kitchen, I suddenly realized that I didn't ask Vanessa while she stole some pastries from the kitchen. She was beaten for stealing some pastries after all.
In the kitchen, the maids were making more food and it smelt weird.
For the first time, I was smelling food that I wasn't making.
"Luna," The maids bowed at me as I entered the kitchen.
A smile spread across my face and I said, "WHO WANTS TO HAVE A TASTE OF MY SPECIAL TREAT?!"
The maids looked at me as though I had gone insane and the possibility that they were right was probably by a few points.
"Me!" Vanessa grinned, supporting me in my quest for some excitement.
She was like my little cutie army.
I grabbed a knife and the entire maids let out a gasp.
"Luna, you can't do that!"
The head chef walked toward me and said, "In this pack, I am the best chef so if you need me to make anything specific, you can just tell me."
Judging from the size of her body, confidence, and apron, I realized that I was sure she was the head chef. All head chefs usually have a bit of an attitude sometimes and it was for the best reason.
She looked fun to play with too. With my cooking qualifications, I wanted to see if it would be enough to bother her.
"What's your name, head chef?"
The chubby woman with short hair and a stocky body smirked, "Even you recognize that I'm the head chef, Luna?"
"Of course. Every head chef in all packs has distinct features and yours isn't hard to spot."
"You must be good at making delicious soft meat and blending different mixtures of drinks to create a magnificent taste!" I added.
She nodded vigorously, "How do you know that?"
"It's just a guess," I laughed. "I want to see if making a wonderful dessert can threaten your position as head chef."
The woman chuckled, "I'd have to see if you're qualified for that first, Luna."
Vanessa whispered in my ear, "You can compete with anyone but not her, Luna. Her meals are one of the most delicious I've ever had."
"Worry not Vanessa, I shall make you proud," I said sassily.
"What meal do you want me to make?"
"Bacon and eggs for starters, then we'll both make the pack desserts. During breakfast, we'll ask everyone to choose which desserts are better."
I smirked, "Game on."
"Then you may call me Helen." She said with a smile. "Since you've chosen to accept my terms."
