CHAPTER 45

OLIVIA'S POV
I averted my gaze from Leo's and looked at my brother, Gillian as though he had lost his mind.
"Leo is here," I mind-linked Julian.
"Don't bother about him, he won't do anything. Even if he does, I'm here." Julian's words always had a way of making me feel safe.
"Olivia," Gillian said with a scoff, bringing me out of the daze I was in.
"How dare you show up here acting all mighty and proud?"
After seeing Leo, I wasn't sure I had any energy to argue or yell at him, so I linked my hands with Julian's.
"I have no idea what you're talking about and you shouldn't talk down to me and my mate unless you're ready to pay for the consequences." With that, I walked away from the Alpha of my previous pack and Gillian.
"Olivia, thank you..." Julian said through the mind link, I looked at him and saw mixed emotions in his eyes. "You've been through a lot. I'm shocked you came here with me just to show me the truth about you and I'm utterly grateful for it."
I smiled at Julian, not knowing how to respond to his words.
Maybe I just attended the party with him to see if the people from my past still had the same effect on me as they once did. They didn't. I only felt a bit Irkish from Leo's stare. For some reason, I felt like the grudge between us was not over yet.
"Let's just go home. It's been a long day."
I felt tired and a bit nauseous for some reason.
"We haven't even had any drinks," Julian said.
"I feel sick from all the people here."
Julian looked at the couples swaying excitedly on the dance floor.
"It's fine," Julian said, "Let's go."
"What about Holden and Niamh?" I asked.
Julian sighed and looked at me before going into a daze. It looked like he was mind-linking Holden because Holden turned to stare at us from the dancefloor where he was dancing with Niamh.
"All clear," Julian said and started walking to the exit with me by his side.
We stepped out of the hall and I exhaled lightly, feeling a sort of serene feeling in my chest.
"Doesn't the air feel fresh and light?"
I smiled at Julian, "Indeed."
"Let's go." We walked towards our truck and Julian got into the passenger's seat and I took the seat next to him. We drove to the pack's exit and I cheered as we headed out of the pack with the wind blowing through our hair, it felt quite refreshing and I liked it.
We drove past Night Lantern's pack and were about to take the fast route to Julian's pack when we saw a beautiful woman standing in the middle of the road.
Julian pressed the honk button several times but she did not move so we had no choice but to pull over in front of her.
Julian sighed and looked at me, "Stay in the car, I'll be right back."
Before I said anything in response, Julian had hopped out of the car. I sighed and watched through the glass as he walked in front of the woman. Then all of a sudden, the woman looked at Julian and he fell to his knees. My heart started beating hard against his ribcage. What was wrong?
He tried to get up but he couldn't.
I immediately opened the door and started to walk toward Julian but I felt hands wrapping around my neck, preventing me from moving towards Julian. I tried to break free, but the more I tried to- The weaker I became.
I looked at the woman in front of me who looked at me with gray eyes.
Was she responsible for this?
She didn't look normal.
I fought to regain control but everything I did seemed hopeless. I struggled until I was knocked out of breath.
ESTHER'S POV
At the party, I noticed Leo's anger towards his brother for taking Olivia, his Luna.
Their typical brotherly rival did not concern me. I had better insights now that I was seeing Olivia in person.
Many, many years ago, her holiness, Queen Jezebel personally came to the werewolves realm to send away all the witches. To do that successfully, she sealed the tree and made it non-existent
At least, that was what I and the other witches thought until I grew my powers.
Out of curiosity, I went back to the spot where the tree grew. I felt it with my powers and I knew something wasn't right. The tree was alive but I couldn't access it. I could tell it was alive because of the vibrations I could feel emitting from the ground.
It took three years of training and pushing myself to breathe through the natural limitations of my magic.
By the end of three years, I came back here and realized the truth.
Her holiness didn't use any extraordinary powers to get rid of the tree- No, she didn't even get rid of the tree. She communicated with it to shut it as the people that could see its blessings weren't worthy.
I tried and tried to make the tree visible to me but it wasn't easy especially when there were some hidden secrets about the tree I wasn't aware of.
I read tales and history books about the tree but didn't get anything important until one day, I heard a storyteller.
He said Alexander Firdaus was going to be a living legend because he might not be alive in his human form but he was going to live forever as a tree.
Even though it was just a story based on the man's imagination, I did not brush away the possibility of Alexander being alive...
If Alexander Firdaus was alive in that tree and I summoned his spirit, I would be able to directly communicate with him. Wouldn't I?
It took many tries before I could summon Alexander's spirit. Indeed, he was alive in the tree.
I was able to control him to make him visible to me but when I ate the fruit, it wasn't as sweet and supple as the one I tasted before. There was a flaw...
A piece to the missing puzzle I was yet to finish.
I made my powers even stronger so that Alexander would have no choice but to submit to me. I asked what the secret of getting infinite powers was and he told me, a werewolf's blood.
Not animals, witches, or faerie's blood.
This was where I needed Leo's help. With him by my side, it was easy to make Werewolves bleed on the tree.
However, nothing happened.
Alexander Firdaus's spirit was not much of a help either because he also did not fully understand the magnitude of his powers.
Half of his powers were gone and he didn't know why.
I almost gave up but I remembered the words the moon goddess said when she came to the werewolves realm according to the townspeople.
The magic lies within the seven unified spirits.
The spirits that have left earth still linger.
What was the emotion behind his sweet dirge?
Find the answer to the Khoyata tree.
I thought about this for ages.
Then I realized something.
In the middle of the seven main packs was the Black Shrout.
They were the core of the main packs even though their influence wasn't too prevalent.
When I neared their territory, I sensed something. All of these people smelt so much like Alexander Firdaus or maybe it was just their blood. But they had more inkling to Alexander Firdaus than the other wolves did.
I gave Leo a powder to help him sense what I could. He must have chosen to buy Olivia since she was of lower rank and no one would care about her if she died.
He had already killed thousands of Werewolves and a few from the Black Shrout pack but neither of them could activate the tree.
However, werewolves were still werewolves, they did not have the fundamental prowess needed to create magic so what I could sense, Leo couldn't.
So even when he had Olivia under his care, he couldn't tell she was the last puzzle needed to activate the tree's infinite powers.
Olivia was different from the other werewolves that were killed. This was because she had one thing in common with Alexander Firdaus.
Her wolf had no memory.
If she was fully connected to her wolf, she would've lost her memories.
Olivia was another Reincarnation of Alexander Firdaus.
A gift that could either make or Mar the werewolves realm.
The man with no memory returns and she was Olivia.
Back when Alexander Firdaus was eaten alive by his fellow werewolves, his blood circulated through all of them.
That means, my false prophecy back then wasn't entirely false.
Anyone who drank Alexander Firdaus would have unimaginable powers but they had to have one thing in common with him. No memory.
Even though many years had passed, Alexander Firdaus's blood ran through generations and Olivia did not connect with her wolf early which nurtured the dangerous prophecy.
As time went on, her wolf disconnected while waxing strong in the unimaginable power it hoarded. It didn't need to follow the wolf's instincts to feed.
It could do whatever it wanted to survive without getting its hands dirty.
I looked at Olivia as she fell to the ground, unconscious.
If It were other wolves, they would've died but Olivia was a special case study.
All I had to do was reveal her wolf and make her bleed on the Khoyata tree.
"How long are you going to hide in the shadows?" I chuckled and Leo came out of the spot he'd been hiding near the woods by the side of the road.
He stepped out and was next to me in the blink of an eye, "I don't want other packs to see me take away the lady at least they cause a fuss."
I was disappointed.
My powers preceded that of his kind. Was he underestimating me?!
"Pick her up," I ordered.
"First," he gritted his teeth, his eyes gazing into mine. "Kill him."
He was talking about killing his brother again.
"Not yet. We must not piss off the chosen one until we get the powers we need."
Leo gave me a look, "Her? The chosen one?! What a joke!"
It took me everything not to seize his soul right there.
The man had seen me kill, take people's souls. Hell, I almost killed him more than once yet it was like he didn't believe any of his experiences. I found him frustrating to work with.
But working with him had its perks. He already had a bad reputation, so killing people was quite an easy feat for him and he got a free pass for killing as well because people tagged it as a part of his animalistic nature.
"After we get the powers we need, I can kill him right?"
I smirked.
"Of course, Alpha."
Leo looked at me, the corner of his mouth curving into a smile.
I read the glint of mischievousness in his eyes.
People like him were dangerous to be kept around. I could only imagine what he would do after he got the finite powers of the Khoyata tree.
For now, I would ignore it.
What he did after getting the powers wasn't important to me. I would still be more powerful than him anyways.
I was a witch.
He was a werewolf.
It didn't matter the sorcery he used. I still had more fundamental training based on magic and smells. With that assurance, I no longer worried.
Leo lifted Olivia from the ground and lifted her from the ground.
"Now that she's in my arms, I find Olivia quite pleasing to look at."
Another thing I despised about werewolves. They were horny bastards.
"You are not allowed to touch a single strand of her hair."
"Why not? I might as well fuck her before getting rid of her. Who knows? Some of her good fortunes might rub off on me."
Leo started to walk past me up ahead to where our truck was parked.
I only shook my head as I slowly followed.
That man had many sluts. He was too greedy to keep his eye on his brother's mate.
I chuckled internally.
Another reason I liked him. Greedy people would do anything to get their cut.
