CHAPTER 72
JULIAN'S POV
"You think you're all that, huh?!" Leo laughed as I chased after him to the backyard. "How dare you think you're capable enough to defeat me?"
A smirk crossed my lips. I didn't expect to defeat him but I sure as hell wanted to take his life while betting on my own life.
I didn't want to live anymore, I had no mate and I was sure I would no longer be a good Alpha in the state I was in.
So basically this was a suicide mission and I was going to take Leo down with me. Only then can the battle be worth it.
I had to kill him to avenge my father.
To ensure the freedom of my sister and the entire werewolf realm. Our victory was on me.
Me.
Leo let out a growl and half-shifted. Claws grew out of his hands and his eyes glowed a bright yellowish color.
I did the same and attacked him first but his speed was immaculate. Just when I thought I got him, I was holding the air and next, I felt him punch a hole into my already bruised back.
I turned around with a growl and held his claws before slamming my head into his face. He fell back and just when I thought I was winning, he let out a burst of mocking laughter.
This irritated my nerves.
Just then, I heard footsteps.
I looked over and wasn't surprised to see Esther looking at us with an amused grin on her face.
"Do it!" Leo told her and she smiled.
She raised her hands and closed her eyes.
I did not understand what that meant.
A growl escaped from Leo's lips and he stood up with renewed energy.
He sped towards me and I tried to flee but I noticed that I couldn't move outside a definite space. I was trapped.
Leo laughed and kept chasing me like a mad dog. I stopped running, I had made up my mind to run. What was the use of trying to escape?
With that, I waited for Leo to reach me, and when he did. I Let out a menacing growl, I had had enough of his stupidity and wickedness.
Leo's eyes widened at the sight of my wolf and I guessed my eyes were now shining brightly, a reflection of my true wolf.
Many had said I resembled my father, judging by the expression on Leo's face I knew that must be true. After all, Leo had personally killed our father, he must've known what his true wolf was like.
I slammed his face into the ground and he wasn't quick to dodge against it.
I didn't relax. I stepped on his back and punched the back of his head until I lost count. I was frustrated and angry.
The rage I had been saving all these years came pouring in.
I was hitting him for killing our father!
I was hitting him for taking my mate, I was hitting him for messing with the spirit codes, and I was hitting him for kidnapping my mate. If he hadn't, she wouldn't have lost her memory and forgotten me.
He must have told her something too.
If he didn't, she wouldn't have chosen Vanessa over me.
While I got lost in emotions, I did not notice that the sneaky witch was doing some sort of sorcery until Leo pushed me off of him with invisible energy.
I looked in the direction of the witch and she had broken out of her weird sorcery with blood dripping out of her nose. She must have given Leo some kind of sorcery magic to make him strong.
Leo attacked me and I couldn't run, I could only take his blows and return the ones I could but it was only a temporary solution. I was losing the strength and will to keep fighting.
I was tired. I wanted to go.
I felt Leo push me to my knees while ripping the shirt along with my flesh.
"JULIAN!" I heard a familiar voice yell my name. My wolf stirred up and my gaze directed to where the voice came from.
My heart melted when I saw that it was indeed Olivia and she was looking at me with tears in her eyes. I was beyond shocked.
Why would she be here?
Didn't she...
"Olivia," I barely said when I felt Leo lift me to my feet.
I was absent-minded while staring at Olivia that I didn't notice what Leo was doing until I felt a sharp stab in my chest.
A gasp escaped my mouth and I fell to my knees, weak.
"JULIAN!"
I heard Olivia's loud cry but there was only so much I could do. I was tired but not of her.
I wanted to hear her words...
Her reasons for abandoning me the way she did.
The reason why she was here but I could only do so much.
I was weak.
"JULIAN!" She was yelling furiously now but I was beaten.
"JULIAN PLEASE! DON'T LEAVE ME!"
The scent of Olivia's blood hit my nose and it stirred my wolf. I was losing my vision and sense of my surroundings but Olivia... I had to make sure she was alright.
I felt Olivia's wolf call out to me. She was stubbornly refusing to let me go and her calls for me were something I could not refuse. I had the will but no strength.
"Please," Olivia's sweet scent filled my nose and I felt her hold my numb body.
Her scent engulfed my nose and when I felt a bunch of liquid touch my face, I knew I wasn't going to leave.
I wasn't going to leave my baby girl in tears. She deserved so much better.
"JULIAN PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!" I heard her cries even louder now and I felt more in tune with my body.
"JULIAN-"
"-You whore," I heard Leo's voice and the next thing I felt was Olivia being dragged away from me.
My wolf awoke.
I was never letting anyone take Olivia away from me again. Never!
My fists tightened and my eyes opened.
Leo pushed Olivia to the ground while walking toward her like a predominant predator. I stood on my feet and pulled the sword out of my chest while swallowing the pain as my blood spilled.
Before Leo did anything else to Olivia, I sneaked behind him and buried my teeth into his neck. He let out a gasp and I placed my arms around his stomach while I dug past his flesh into the depth of his bones. His blood splattered on my face and I closed my eyes as I felt him die.
A rule among werewolves was to always mark a prey with teeth. At least, that was what my father taught me.
"Brother, I'm sorry."
I released my arms and teeth from around Leo and he dropped to the floor, lifeless.
"Julian..." Olivia looked at me and I let out a painful smile.
With the amount of hurt she caused me, all she had to do was call my name and I would be soft for her.
It was ridiculous.
But now... I couldn't even love her properly. I was dying.
My sight felt blurry and I felt the stab wound in my chest acting up. I fell to my knees and through my blurry eyes, I could see Olivia running toward me. She held me before I fell to the ground and held me in her lap instead.
A laugh escaped my lips.
I wanted to live.
If not for anything, for her beautiful smile. But it was too late...
"Julian, I'm sorry!" I heard her cries.
I had forgiven her long ago.
I just wanted to be with her but now...
I closed my eyes and let the feeling of peace take over my body. I kept smelling her sweet scent until it became faint.
