CHAPTER 39

LEO'S POV.
My anger was visible for the whole world to see and I didn't want to do anything to stop it. Even when my subordinates kept moving backward to stay away from my wrath, I didn't do anything to contain my anger. I felt like killing someone and I still might if what I am thinking about turned out to be true. I watched in silence as the informant the witch had suggested that we use to achieve our purpose stood in the hall, waiting for the confirmation that the information he brought over to Alpha Julian was needed.
When the witch had told me that she suspected that my brother was the culprit who had stolen my lover, I hadn't wanted to believe it at first but then all the events that had happened that day Olivia went missing had suddenly begun to make sense. When I remembered how my brother had played me for a fool by engaging me in silly conversation, I felt angrier.
Of course, I had wanted to storm over to his place immediately and demand the release of the woman that had been sold to me by her father. If it had been another woman, perhaps, I might not have minded Julian's act and trick. But, Olivia was a woman that I wanted to have my way with. Ever since I first saw her, I had been filled with lust for her and it had never stopped.
The only reason I did not force myself on her was that I wanted her to give in to me volunteering. I wanted to treat her better until she was the one pleading with me to have my way with her. In other words, I had been fattening her before the time for her to be sacrificed was up. And Julian had dared to steal my woman. That too, he had stolen her away from me under my strict watch and tight security.
"Watch." The witch commanded me.
I returned my gaze to the man we had used as a decoy and I saw him going into what looked like a study room. There, my brother and that fool of a beta he called his friend stood at the center of the room. As soon as they spotted the informant, they began to question him.
I stole a glance at the witch and I saw that her eyes were closed and she was muttering something silently with only her lips moving to indicate that she was speaking. I returned my gaze to the magical mirror the witch has created to enable us to connect to the Black Shadow's environment.
"I found her!" The witch exclaimed.
"You actually found her in the Black Shadow pack?" I asked, astonished.
"Look, that's her." The witch pointed one of her smooth fingers at the magical mirror.
I looked back at the mirror and true to the witch's words, Olivia was at the door of the room where the three men were. The moment she opened the door, the witch chanted something loudly and the informant began to electrocute. I saw Olivia's eyes widen in shock and she ran away from the hall without bothering to close the door firmly.
I followed her movement closely and I saw that she was crying as she ran. When she got to a room, she opened the door, went in, and locked the door behind her. When ran to the bed in the room and she collapsed on the bed. Seeing her eyes filled with tears, I wanted to move closer to her and comfort her in my arms until she stopped crying.
Just as I was about to lift my hand to swipe it over her, the picture before me changed and it returned to the man I loathed the most. I turned back to the witch with a low menacing growl which reflected even in my voice as I spoke.
"I don't want to see that idiot, please. Return the vision to Olivia," I told her.
"You don't get to order me around, you weak werewolf!" Esther grunted at me.
"Yes, of course," I conceded.
I hated myself for acting so weak in front of a mere woman but I knew that I needed her help if I wanted to succeed in the things that I had planned. She was not just a witch, but a dark power witch. So, I couldn't oppose her. Even if I wanted to oppose her, the time wasn't now. Maybe after I had used her until I didn't need her help anymore, but for now, I'll count my losses and submit to her.
"Better." The witch said.
I felt like wrapping my hands around her neck and snuggling life out of her. But I didn't blame her, the person I blamed my brother for the mess he had dropped me in. If he hadn't gone ahead and stolen my woman from me, I wouldn't have had to rely on the witch to get her back into my embrace.
My anger towards him was reinforced at full speed. I would make sure I kill him this time without mercy. I wouldn't make the same mistake I made about three years ago when we had our clash out. This time, it would be a battle of no mercy. If I knew that he would be more trouble to me now than he even was back then, I would have killed him in his sleep by stabbing him to death multiple times or by shifting into a wolf and biting his head off.
But it was not too late to seek revenge for humiliating me back then and for stealing something of mine now. Since he wasn't aware that I knew about the woman in his place. The enemy of surprise would work out well with him. I just needed to mobilize my werewolves' army and storm into his place. Before he and his pack members would be able to go up, my army and I would have wiped them all away from the earth.
Then, I can take my woman away with me from the Black Shadow pack back to my home. I would give her all she could ever want and make sure she has nothing to complain about. The only thing I would not be granting her when she is back with me was not having my way with her. I would mate with her and mark her even though she is not my mate.
The moon goddess be damned about whatever she thinks of my actions later.
"I can hear your thoughts, you know?" The witch said to me.
I was a little shocked to hear that from her. When I remembered what I had said about her, I turned to look at her in shock but her face didn't reveal whatever it was she had heard.
"If the moon goddess be damned, does that mean that you don't care what my thoughts are? Is that how you kept thinking about me being damned too?" She finally asked.
I released the breath I had been holding. It was a good thing if the only part she heard was about me cursing the moon goddess and not about the other things like the war I was planning to visit my brother with. Although, if she heard that part, I'm sure that she wouldn't oppose it. Instead, she would support me to eradicate the threat to my pack since I would mean that we would also be eradicating the detective Julian who kept snooping around for what was none of his business.
"I heard about the war part too and I can still hear about it again." The witch said again.
Right! Never forget that she can listen to thoughts, I reminded myself.
"What do you think about the war?" I asked her.
"Do you truly want to know?" She asked me.
"Yes," I told her.
"I don't think that you are ready." She said and nodded her head about like a lizard that got trapped in its web.
I turned back to the magical mirror in time to see my brother walking out of the room where the informant we had planted had burned to death.
"Believe me, I am ready to do anything you ask of me as long as I can see the end of that man who claimed to be my brother.
"If you know you are ready to hear the truth from me, then just know that it is not yet time to go to war with your brother." The witch told me in such a calm tone I wasn't sure I heard her right.
"If I can't fight with him to get women back, then how am I supposed to win over my brother and get my woman back from him?" I asked, perplexed.
The witch smiled in a wicked way and she closed her eyes. She mumbled strange words like she always did whenever she used her power.
"I found someone with discontentment in the heart from the Black Shadow pack that your brother leads." She announced.
"So?" I asked her in a mildly rude tone.
The witch didn't bother to respond to me. She just continued to mumble and mumble words I've never heard before throughout my whole existence. After another five minutes or so had elapsed, she stopped and opened her eyes. I looked into her eyes and I saw that the eyes' colors had turned even deeper than usual.
"Look." She directed me and she pointed to the magical mirror.
I obeyed the command and looked in the mirror. I saw a lady who had blonde hair sitting by the side of a beach. She looked very gloomy and her baby blue eyes were filled with tears that flowed freely as a river did. She had her two arms wrapped around herself in a warm embrace as she kept crying and sniffing her nose.
I turned back to the witch and looked at her in a questioning manner. What does she want me to do about the blonde woman she had asked me to look at? Did the witch expect me to pity the woman? Or did she want me to go over to the Black Shadow pack and comfort the woman? If that was what the witch wanted, then I would be truly sorry to disappoint her because I didn't feel any little sympathy toward the woman in the magical mirror.
"I am not asking you to have pity on her or be her comforter." The witch told me.
"Then why are you showing her to me?" I asked her.
"You do want to defeat your brother, right?" The witch asked me again.
"Of course, I want to. There is nothing more I want than to defeat Julian and see his dead body rot in hell with no one to bury him," I spat out with so much venge.
"Good. That is where she comes in." The witch said to me. She turned back to the mirror and pointed to the blonde woman.
I returned my attention to the mirror to look at the blonde. I noticed that she wore very cheap clothing that was only beaten for the people who had her lowest ranks in the pack. That means that he had to be a servant and I wondered what the witch wanted to do with a maid of the pack.
"What was her role supposed to be once again?" I asked the witch in a serious tone everything I was very sure that she hadn't told me what the role of the maid was to be.
The witch looked at the blonde callously. "Our puppet in the Black Shadow pack." She answered me.
I smiled as understanding dawned on me. I turned back to look at the maid and smacked my lips together in excitement. The witch waved her hand in front of the magical mirror and everything disappeared, fading into nothingness.
