CHAPTER 31
JULIAN'S POV.
"Thank you for the ride, Holden. I'll see you both later in the day," I told both my beta and my omega.
"See you later, Julian," Holden called out before he drove away.
I sighed and walked into my mansion. After Holden had beckoned to me yesterday about a matter that urgently needed my attention, I hadn't expected that it would be a matter that would require so much of my time.
It turned out that some of the soldiers had spotted another set of Blue Blood werewolves transporting the crates of fruits from the Khoyata tree. They had captured one of them and they had wanted me to be present for his questioning. When I got there, I had met the omega questioning the captured man who had done nothing but kept mute.
Holden and I had thought that he wasn't responding to the omega's questioning because she was a woman, coupled with the fact that she wasn't someone who loved threatening and punishing people except when the situation called for it. So, we had asked her to relax and leave the captured man to us.
But no matter how hard Holden and I gave it our best to get words out of the culprit, he hadn't even muttered a single word in response to our questions. At the point when we got too frustrated, Holden had resulted in using violence on the man, yet, we hadn't been able to get anything out of him. Not even a scream or a winner to induce that he was in pain from the punishment he received from my beta.
When none of us could take it anymore, I had shifted into my wolf form. I was ready to punish the man by biting into his flesh bit by bit until there was nothing left of him but bones and veins. It was only at the moment when the stubborn man spotted my intimidating wolf that he had left out a scared whimpering sound. To further show him that meant business, I had graded my teeth on his thigh before I changed back to my human form.
Of course, the moment I changed back into my human form, the man had refused to utter another word. When I saw that nothing could make the son of a bitch let out any word or clue about why they were stealing the crates, I told my beta and omega to let him go, and that had been a terrible mistake on my part. If I had known the results would be the way it was, I would have listened to them when they tried to stop me.
After Holden had finally given in to me, he had freed the man. The moment he was free, the man had run away from all of us. But when I asked Holden and Niamh to follow after him and see where the man went to and who he went there to meet, they had both returned only minutes later to report that the man was dead.
Who had killed him, we didn't know. One thing I did know was that whoever was behind the scene didn't want his secret to be out in the open.
I sighed again and pushed the door to my room open. When I saw Olivia fast asleep on my bed, my traitorous dick doubled in size, and the jeans I wore felt too tight suddenly. I cleared my throat and shook my head to get the explicit scene that circulated in my brain away.
Now was not the time for lovemaking, I told myself. Now was the time to do the needful and introduce my mate to the entire pack as their Luna. I went straight to the bed where she still slept peacefully and kissed her on the forehead.
"Sleepyhead, wake up," I called to her in a jovial tone.
"Hmm?" She answered in a sleepy tone and she stretched. When she changed her sleeping position instead of getting up, I laughed at her.
"Sleepyhead, wake up. Sleepyhead, wake up," I sang into her ears as I shook her awake.
"Julian, get lost. I stayed awake until so early this morning because I was anxious about you," Olivia grunted at me.
"I'm sorry about that. Something urgent came up," I said to her in apology.
"Are you okay?" She asked me and sat up.
"I am. But I need you to get up and get dressed right now," I told her in a very serious tone.
"Why?" She asked, apprehensive.
I stared into her eyes and tapped her lightly on the nose with my thumb.
"Everything is fine, I promise. I just want to take you somewhere," I told her.
She got up the moment she heard that and rushed to the bathroom. She already had her hand on the doorknob to enter when she paused and turned back to me.
"I don't have any clothes to change into." She told me.
"Don't worry, love. The maids that would attend to you should be here pretty soon and they would be arriving with some dresses for you. Just pick whichever one you like," I informed her.
"Are you sure that I shouldn't know where we are going to?" She asked me.
"You would know pretty soon. Just dress up and come out. I'll be waiting for you outside," I told her.
"Okay." She conceded and disappeared into the bathroom.
I walked away from the room when the maids arrived. It wasn't because I couldn't stay and watch her dress up but I knew the inner tumor battle I would be fighting with myself and my wolf if I saw even the skin of her body.
I rested my back behind the car parked in front of my quarter, pressing my phone to keep me busy until she revealed herself. I turned my neck around to release the stress I felt from the previous day's stress. When I checked my watch again, I saw that I had been waiting for the past thirty minutes. What was it with women and the amount of time it took for them to get dressed?
I checked my gold wristwatch again and looked up to see if there were any signs of her appearance. I was ready to go and drag her out of the house when the door clicked open and she walked out of the house elegantly. The arousal I had managed to keep under check reinforced itself into my system and I winced at the torture she put me into.
"Do you like the dress?" She asked me, turning around to show me how it looked on her.
She had chosen the blue, flowing gown among the other dresses. While the lower part was merely a freestyle dress, the upper part of it was the definition of the unadulterated sin of dressing with the deep V it spotted. The V was so deep that I could see some mounds of her fleshy breasts perking through it. My eyes rested on the breasts for a little while, with me wishing I could just tear the clothes off her and have my way with her, making her scream my name in immense pleasure.
I tore my gaze away from the pure sin I had been devouring with my eyes and in my mind and I looked at her.
"You look..." I stopped when my voice came out hoarse and cleared it first before I continued, "beautiful," I completed the sentence.
"Thanks," Olivia replied to me, shyly.
I cleared my throat again before I grabbed her right hand and began to walk. Through the short distance it took to walk to the hall where the meeting of the entire pack took hold, no one said anything to the other. Although I didn't know why she wasn't vocal, I knew that if I said a word to her on my part, we wouldn't attend the meeting anymore.
I would just drag her back to my house and have my way with her as I wished to.
"We are here," I finally said when we were standing in front of the Hall building.
I didn't let go of her hand as I walked her inside the hall. When we got inside, the hall was filled to the brim with my subordinates. I heard Olivia exclaim in shock when I stopped to greet one of them. When we got to the golden seat meant for me as the Alpha, I nodded at Holden and Niamh in greetings. Rather than sit down as I usually did, I remained standing.
"Everyone! Thank you for gathering for this meeting despite the short notice," I said to my pack members.
"Alpha!" They all called out.
"The reason why I gathered you all here today was that I wanted to introduce my mate to you all. Her name is Olivia and I want you to know that she is this pack's Luna," I informed them and pointed to Olivia.
Gasps rose in the air. Murmurs took over the room and most of the people in the hall stared at Olivia. As I waited patiently for what they would say in reaction to the information I had just gotten across to them, I rushed a glance at my mate. The shock on her face could be taken and sent to the world record breakers for the assertion which I'm sure she would break the previous record of the previous winner.
"Congratulations to our Alpha for the good luck the moon goddess had bestowed upon him," Holden said to me.
"We welcome and accept the Luna into our pack," Niamh said to Olivia.
"Congratulations to our Alpha and we welcome the Luna to our pack." One of the elders of the pack said.
"Congratulations to the Alpha and we welcome the Luna to our pack." The entire pack members repeated.
I relaxed and smiled at the members of my pack. If there was ever one thing I have ever been grateful to my brother for the conflict we had between us that led to me having a new pack of my own, it would be the people I have been gifted with as my pack members. Through the thick and the thin of every journey, my pack members had always stood by me no matter the decisions I made.
Even though I had expected their support on this matter too, a part of me had felt like they would oppose or even grumble just a little. Why? Because they were getting a Luna in the form of a stranger. Olivia was someone they never knew existed until a few weeks ago and I had thought that that would serve as a hindrance for her in the eyes of my people. But, they had still supported me, even in this life decision.
"Thank you everybody for your support. Believe it or not, I am happy about your easy acceptance of my mate," I expressed my gratitude to them.
"You're welcome, Alpha." The elder spoke up for everyone.
"Now, let's make merry and celebrate the arrival of our Luna, shall we?" I asked them.
"You bet we would." My omega said.
I smiled at Niamh at first, then I returned my attention to Olivia who remained silent through everything.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked her.
"Did they... Did they all just accept me as their Luna... Just like that?" She asked, incredulous.
"We did," Niamh answered before I could.
"So, I'm the Luna now?" She asked, apparently still in shock.
"Not fully yet since you don't have the mating mark on you yet. But, we all know that you are the Luna of this pack now. It's like announcing the engagement of you both to the people," Niamh said further.
"What should I do now?" She asked, looking at the thousand heads of werewolves in the hall, making merrier.
"Mingle with them," Niamh told her.
Without waiting for an answer or another question, Niamh dragged Olivia away with her into the crowd to mingle with them.
I turned back to Holden to discuss the next course of action with him. I knew that Olivia would be fine since she was with Holden's mate.
