CHAPTER 59

LEO'S POV.
It's been a few weeks since the witch and I sacrificed Olivia's blood on the tree and a little war broke out. Like a child's play, a day turned into days, and days turned into weeks. I called it a little war because the bloodshed wasn't as gross as I had wanted it to be. While the witch and I had agreed that we needed to stay calm and let Olivia do all the killings, even though I wasn't pleased with that fact.
No, it wasn't just the fact that I wasn't pleased with. I was also not pleased with the witch who had taken it over herself to turn to the leader after we had taken over Black Shrout but there was little to nothing I could do while she was still in control of everything.
I had to let her be and watch at the sidelines while she kept ordering what was left of the people of Black Shrout all around in their own kingdom. The few people that had dared to question her authority she had made sure that their breath seized the very next second. After she had used about ten people as her scapegoat, the other people had never questioned her again.
When I said the other people, that included even me. I feared her a lot and I think she knew about that fear which was why she kept daring me to try any nonsense with her. I wouldn't dare either since I didn't want to be rendered useless in front of my men who feared me as much as they feared death.
I didn't doubt that she would render me useless in a heartbeat if I dared to provoke her either. The way she had treated my brother, Julian, like he was an animal made me fear even the breath that came out of her mouth. If I feared her breath that much, then imagine how much I feared her mouth or her hands.
She was fast with those two also. Just a slight provocation, she would have either begun to change incoherent words or she would have performed some kind of wicked magic with her fingers. Once she did it too, she was never remorseful about how much damage she had inflicted on the third party involved.
I wasn't disgusted by her or her wicked actions since I was exactly like her, if not a little more wicked than she is. I live on the thrill of seeing human flesh being tore away from blood and veins and hearing the cries of plea from the people I tortured. I love hearing about the high pleading from the people that faced my wrath.
I could be bringing out the intestines of a man that got me angry one after the other while I would be laughing at his shout for mercy. If it were a woman, I made sure I always raped her muktipke times until she starts bleeding before I finally killed her to join her ancestor who were waiting for her by the gates if hell.
But the slight difference between the witch and I was the fact that I always gave every one of my opponents the chance to fight and free themselves from my clutches. Each men or women I had tortured, I had always given them the chance to kill me for their survival. It was just that none of them had ever survived the battle if survival; none except Julian.
My brother who had survived the battle we had several years ago and who was able to achieve partial shifting had been rendered useless in just a few seconds but the witch who practiced dark powers. So, who was I? Who was I to say a word or even grunt in her presence? I was no one, a nobody when I was in front of her.
But I wanted power. I wanted the rulership of the werewolves clans. I wanted to be the supreme commander of the werewolf realm and I wanted to sit upon the golden royal chair and watch as men and women reverence me no matter their positions. To be able to do that, I needed to usurp the witch from the power she had in her hands.
How do you rid a powerful witch of her power though? I had asked myself that question over a million times at s million intervals whenever I was alone and left to my thoughts but I had never for once been able to come up with an eligible answer. Each answer I came with in the past, I had always discarded instantly after I weighed the pros and cons.
The odds of losing were always higher than that of winning. No matter how desperate I was for power, I wasn't ready to be at the receiving end of the witch who enjoyed nothing more than taunting her enemies who had fallen into her prey. She would frustrate them until they couldn't take it anymore and they ended their own lives and that was if she wasn't in the mood to finish the person off by herself.
"What's troubling you, Alpha?"
I was a little surprised to hear the voice and I looked up at once. My beta stood by the door, his expression looking worried. When had he gotten there? I asked myself, feeling very angry at myself. If it had been an enemy that had tried to sneak an attack on me, I'm sure that he would have succeeded since my mind wasn't even on my surroundings.
For someone that wanted to dethrone the witch, I felt like I was doing a very poor job in keeping myself safe first. I scowled as my mind reminded me that I wouldn't have been at lost for words if I wasn't thinking about how to kill the stupid witch that wanted to rule over me and what shouod be my kingdom.
At least, if she wanted to rule, then, all she had to do was gather all the witnesses of the earth in one accord and she would declare herself as their ruler. With the current power that she had, I'm sure that none of those witches would oppose her reign. Maybe the one that wished to die would but her death would serve as severe warning to the others and they would swallow their protest in their lungs.
The only person that I knew was bound to protest that movement was Her Holiness and maybe that's why she hadn't gone ahead and executed the thought that I had just now. As power hungry as the witch was, I was damn sure that she must have thought about ruling both the werewolves realm and the witches' covens. The only person that must have halted her would also be Her Holiness like I had thought about.
"Alpha?"
My beta called again, breaking my chains of thoughts. I looked at him and I smiled a little.
"I'm fine. I was just thinking about ways to stop the witch from continuing her reign over us," I explained to him.
"What do you plan on doing?" The man asked me.
"If I knew, did you think that I would be here soliloquizing?" I retorted to the man.
"I'm sorry, Alpha." He apologized to me.
"Well, I dont want your fucking apology. I want solutions!" I shouted at him.
"How about we contact a witch like her? A witch that can battle her?" My beta asked.
I looked at him with a menacing eyes, "you think that I haven't thought about that yet? She's a witch with dark powers, there's no other witch that can ever match her powers," I explained to him.
"What about having a vampire suck her dry?" My beta suggested again.
"No. Have you forgotten that her originality is from the vampire clan? There is nothing they do to her that can hurt her," I opposed it.
"What else can we do then?" My beta asked me.
I get the fact that he was already lost on a list for ideas just as I was.
"I'll tell you what you can do."
We heard a sing-song song from behind my beta and I looked up to see who it was. Shocked, my beta moved into the room fully and he got ready for war with his battle stance. The witch walked majestically into the room, dressed in a purple flowing dress and a high heels, her long hair packed into a high ponytail
"You don't need to attempt to fight with me." The witch told my beta.
"How much of everything did you hear?" I asked her, watching her expression carefully.
"Which part are you interested in the most? The part where your foolish beta suggested that you get a witch time fight against me with spells? Or the part where he thought that you should get a vampire to suck me dry? Or are you more interested in making me repeat all the answers you gave to his suggestions?" The witch said with a deceiving smile.
"Just say that you heard everything," I said to her.
"Just a piece of advice, Alpha Leo. Your beta is a foolish man, it would better for you to replace him." She said to me,
"How dare you call me foolish?" My beta shouted at the witch. He rushed forward to attack her and that was when the smile left her face, only to be replaced by her terrified whitish eyes. She flicked her fingers at my beta and the man slumped down immediately, sprawled on the cold floor. Without being told, I already knew that he was dead.
"I told you he was a foolish man, didn't I? How dare a little fly like him tried to challenge me when I make even the strongest of men now before me in fear?" She said. Her whitish eyes breathing angry fire at the dead man.
That was it. I knew that I had had enough of her nuisance and I needed to be free from her unless I didn't mind being her call boy for the rest of my life, which, I do mind a lot.
"Esther!" I shouted at the top of my lungs and she focused on me.
"Back to the boss. Very good." She said in the nonchalant voice I had come to realize meant twice her usual anger.
"You had no right to kill my man," I told her.
"He..." She said and pointed to my beta's dead body, "...had no right to talk about my death. He's not even worthy of talking about killing a fly that perched on me, not to talk about me." She spat out. "As a matter of fact, neither did you." She said and focused on me.
I swallowed audibly. I was scared but I knew that I shouldn't let it show or even reflect on my face, otherwise, she would manipulate me with it.
"I think you've done enough now, Esther. I want you to step down," I told her in a calm tone even though I was anything but calm.
"You dare! Do you think you can pay for the consequences?!" She shouted at me.
If I had thought that her eyeballs were whitish before, then I was wrong because they turned as white as snow. She raised her hands at me and she began to chant some incoherent words. I knew she was casting some kind of weird spells on me and I became afraid of what would happen to me next.
It came as a surprise when she went down on her knees suddenly and she began to spill blood. She held her stomach to stop from throwing up blood but that didn't help. I smiled at her in an evil way when I realized that her spell had backfired on her this time.
"Your reign of terror is over, dear powerful witch," I told her and I laughed.
I strolled out of the room, leaving her in her agony. I know I should have killed her then but I hadn't felt like it. She was now a weakling before me and I knew that I could do whatever I wanted with her whenever I wanted to. Including having my way with her and turning her to my puppet.
ESTHER'S POV.
Every time I tried to use my powers to stop the negative effect the spell had on me, it only heightened it the more. More and more, it became clear to me that something had gone wrong with my dark powers.
The words and laughter that Alpha Leo had muttered before he left the room was the least of my concern right now. All I wanted was to regain my power and then I could teach him lessons that he would never forget in his lifetime.
After a while, the blood vomiting stopped and I sat down on the floor, lost in thought about what exactly could have gone wrong with my magic. Could it be that I had exhausted it because it was transferred to me? I shook my head against the thought immediately. That couldn't be it since I wasn't the first person to get power transferred to and there had never been any record that they exhausted it.
"Your vampirical traits are not dormant, Esther. No matter how much you conceal it, you can't hide under the guise of being a witch forever. In the history books, you're the most horrific vampire who has no emotions and killed her family. Because of this, your people hate you for ruining the vampire's reputation so you did something to yourself and made yourself like this.. A vampire with witches powers.
As my ex-lover words came back to me, I got more lost in thought. Could it be that my vampire side was dominating my witch power?
