CHAPTER 71

OLIVIA'S POV
My legs moved faster than I thought was possible as I headed to the packhouse, my legs were already sore from the running but this was Julian we were talking about, I couldn't let him get himself killed. He shouldn't have come here in the first place. He had no idea that Leo was an insane person.
I forced my worn-out legs to keep moving no matter the pain that shot up through my legs.
I breathed in and paused for a moment to catch my breath. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead and I wiped them with my sleeve.
Moon goddess, please...
My feet brushed through the corpses in front of the packhouse.
My heart tightened and I look over at their faces, "No, not Julian."
The corpses lifeless faces reminded me of the people who I had killed in rage.
Memories of how I killed my brother, Gillian also filled my head.
I had ripped out his heart with no remorse despite his words.
I always blamed him for treating me unkindly, yet I killed him. Wasn't I worse than him?
Was this why the moon goddess was punishing me?!
She could take my life and I wouldn't give a damn, she just shouldn't touch Julian. If not...
Tears streamed down my face and I spotted the other soldiers fighting themselves. What was even the use of this fight? It only killed people and no problems were solved.
I looked amongst the fighters for Julian but my vision was blurry.
I wiped my face and stood on my feet before looking around for him.
"Julian?"
Julian!
I watched a soldier fall to his knees after a sword was thrust into his chest. The metallic smell of fresh blood hit my nostrils and I found myself shedding tears.
I looked at the culprit and was surprised to see that it was one of Julian's warriors. I could tell because of his uniform.
Just as I was about to call him, he looked at me in surprise. "LUNA?!"
"Warrior," I answered, my tone deep and indignant. "Where is Julian?" I hesitated to ask.
I didn't want to hear the bad news that he was dead but I knew I had to hear about him anyway.
"He's fighting with Leo at the back of the packhouse."
Immediately I heard that I felt energized and very much alive. There was hope, I could still find him. Alive.
"Please go and save our Alpha, I beg you."
I didn't wait for the warrior to finish his sentence when I ran over the packhouse to go to the back. I grew up here so I knew it like the back of my palms.
Dodging fighting soldiers was not an easy task, I ended up getting a cut and blood splattered all over my clothes but all of those things did not matter to me when I had a bigger task at hand, saving my mate.
When I got to the backyard, my eyes instantly caught a fighting scene.
My heart immediately leaped for joy when I saw that Julian was alive and standing. Although he had some cuts, it wasn't serious.
But... Leo looked like he had no cuts at all and he was very energized and full of life compared to Julian.
I didn't know how but I knew I had to help him somehow.
I wasn't the weak girl I once was.
I ran into the scene but I felt something push me back before I even got near the two fighting werewolves.
My heart pace fastened at the weird magic that prevented me from reaching the scene. I tried again but it pushed me back.
My fists tightened as soon as I got a whiff of who it was. The witch.
I searched for her with my eyes, it was only her who could remove the barrier she put in place.
My wolf helped me in the search and I soon found the witch, lying a few meters near the bush at the back. I ran towards her and scoffed at the blood rolling down her nose.
"You witch," I growled and held her by the neck. She looked at me and a smile engraved into her bloody mouth, "You..."
"Take. Down. The barrier." I ordered my wolf growling.
"Kill her. She hurt us." My wolf said.
"No, she'll die anyway," I told my wolf.
"DID YOU NOT HEAR ME?!" I yelled and slammed the witch hard in the face.
The smile disappeared from her face and she started spitting out more blood.
"IT'S TOO LATE!" She managed to say shakily.
"I sacrificed my life to put up that barrier. One of them has to die, only then can the barrier b-be..." More blood started gushing out of her mouth and she said in one breath, "Be lifted!"
With that, she stiffened up and her breath seized.
I sighed.
The fucking witch was not helpful.
What could I do?!
I heard a groan.
I turned around to look at the scene and I was surprised to that Julian looked even more bloody than before.
The flesh on his back was ripped along with his shirt and he was bleeding. He didn't look like he could take any more hits either.
"JULIAN!" I yelled and rushed towards the front of the barrier and his gaze was directed towards me in confusion and shock.
