CHAPTER 37
*Olivia*
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. I stretched out against the bed, loosening all the tight joints. I heard them pop and smiled as I threw off the covers.
Swinging my feet over the bed, I slipped my legs into the pair of slippers and made my way to the bathroom. Today was a good day. I felt much better than usual and my head seemed clearer.
Maybe it's because you are getting closer to Julian. I rolled my eyes, ignoring the voice. I picked up my toothbrush, spreading toothpaste along the bristles. I turned on the tap, running the toothpaste below it.
I started brushing my mouth, humming an old song under my breath. I spat into the sink as I finished, using a cup on the counter to collect water to rinse out my mouth.
Slipping out of my clothes, I stepped into the bathroom and turned on the shower. One thing about Julian's house was that I could always bathe hot water.
They soothed the scars on my back and I didn't move for a second. The scars were healed, but running hot water through them always sent a calming tingle down my spine.
I grabbed the loofah from the shelf, pouring body wash on it. It was still unreal. I couldn't believe I was actually someone's Luna now. I shook my head, getting rid of all the bad memories that were threatening to spill over.
I scrubbed my body, careful when I went over the scars. I turned the shower back on, watching the soap slide off my body. I knew Julian was going to want to see me naked one day, but the thought of it was terrifying. I knew he wouldn't like what he saw. I didn't.
I didn't know how long I stood under the shower. A knock on my door made me jolt. I didn't answer, quickly scrubbing my body one more time. I poured the body wash into my palm, using it to scrub my hair.
"My queen?" I yelled back, trying to avoid the soap getting in my eyes. "I am in the bathroom." "Oh, okay. I will return in a few minutes." I didn't recognize the voice, which meant it was a new maid.
I had finished washing out my hair and rinsing the soap off my body when she came back. I sighed, wrapping the towel around my body as I stepped forward.
Unlocking the door, I smiled at the person who stood there. "Good morning." She went red, rubbing the back of her head. "I am sorry, my queen." She ended this with a bow and I used my hand to pull her up. "You needn't have to do that. I am still a normal girl."
She kept her head low, her words rushing out of her mouth like she was in a hurry to get out of my presence. "The Alpha asked me to make sure you get to the kitchen in time for breakfast." I gripped the towel around my body tighter and cleared my throat.
"As you can see, I am still dressing. Come back in a few minutes. I should be ready." She bent so low I was surprised her knees didn't hit the ground. "Yes, My Queen." She turned around, skittering down the hall. I held in my laugh as I shut the door.
Julian had stocked my room with everything I needed, so finding underwear was no hassle. I picked out a matching set, putting it on. My scars had healed enough for me to wear a bra and not feel pain, which was a major development.
During the first week, I couldn't wear a bra and had to bind my breasts lest my father took offence at my indecency.
I picked out a flowery baby blue sundress and a pair of blue sandals to match. The gown stopped mid thigh so I grabbed a pair of stockings and switched out my sandals for a pair of boots. The. weather wasn't too hot, so I knew I wouldn't get uncomfortable.
I was putting on perfume and preparing to put on lipgloss when a knock on my door sounded again. I put my hand over my mouth to stop my laughter, getting up to open the door.
The maid's eyes widened when she saw me. "I hope I am not too early." I shook my head, bending down to adjust my boots. "I am done actually. Just to put on lipgloss and we are done." She nodded, taking a step back. "I would wait."
I didn't try to convince her otherwise, moving back to my dresser to put it on. I didn't want to acknowledge the fact I was dressing up for Julian so I opted out of wearing jewelry.
I took one last look in the mirror before stepping out of the room. I closed the door behind me, smiling at the maid. "Shall we?" She nodded, keeping her eyes on the floor.
We started walking and I wondered how she was able to see where we were going. Considering her eyes were on the floor. I decided to make conversation. "What's your name?" "I am not sure I am obligated to say."
I nearly rolled my eyes. "I am not going to bite." "It's not you I am worried about, my Queen." I blinked, narrowing my eyes. "Is it Julian?" She shook her head and I could notice her body clam up.
I decided to leave her alone, focusing my eyes on the paintings hanging on the walls. I wondered why Julian sent her over. I already knew my way around the castle well enough.
We turned the corner and I smelt the kitchen the next instant. I am so hungry. The maid beside me disappeared immediately I crossed the threshold. Another maid rushed forward, grabbing my hand. "I made this just for you, my lady." I noticed she was wearing a different outfit from the maid from earlier.
She bustled me around till I sat down and had plates in front of me. I gave her a look. "I can't finish this." She waved me off. "Leftovers are taken to the stables."
I settled my eyes on the plates that were in front of me. Sunnyside eggs, crispy bacon, french toast and other things I couldn't recognize. A jug and glass of orange juice was suddenly dropped in front of me and I smiled at him. He went red, nearly dropping the tray.
I laughed under my breath, picking up one french toast. I bit into it and let out a low moan. I needed to get the recipe. The bread is so juicy yet it's not soggy.
I poured out a glass of orange juice, downing it in one gulp. I lowered the cup, my eyes meeting a maid across the table. I shrugged, giving her a reassuring smile. "I am hungry." A laugh burst out her mouth and she slapped her hand over it.
I leaned forward in a conspiratorial manner, lowering my voice. "I wouldn't tell on you if you wouldn't tell on me." She smiled, her hand still over her mouth. "Deal."
I finished breakfast without any more embarrassing acts and turned to take my plates to the sink when a maid swept in and took it from my hands. A man in a warrior's grab walked into the kitchen, swiping an apple off the table.
The maid with the different outfit smacked his hand. "If the Alpha doesn't find you on the field in the next minute, he will flip." The man just shrugged. "Food is more important than anything else, Gretel."
Gretel gave him a look, narrowing her eyes. "Get your butt to the field, Axel." He lifted his palms as a show of surrender, moving out of the kitchen.
I knew I didn't know where the field was, and I wanted to see Julian. So I said a quick word of thanks to all the women and rushed out to catch up with Axel.
I stepped up beside him, flashing him a smile. "Axel, right?" He flinched, looking down at me. "My queen. Good morning." I gave him a warm smile, linking my arms behind me. "You are headed for the field, correct?"
He nodded, taking his eyes off me. "Yes." "I am just tagging along. You needn't worry." Axel let out an uneasy breath. "Yes. That's fine. I am assuming you are going to see Julian?" I nodded, bouncing on my feet.
He didn't make conversation again until we got closer to the clearing. He pointed out a set of chairs. "You can wait for him there. Training normally takes quite a while." I smiled at him. "Thank you, Axel." He rubbed his neck, blushing. "It was no trouble."
He ran off to the field where I could see a lot of them already working out. I couldn't spot Julian from here so I decided to move closer.
I still didn't stop Julian till he called out my name. I turned to face him and immediately went red when I saw he was bare chested. I turned around instantly, blushing harder when Julian burst into laughter.
I could see from the corner of my eye that he was moving closer. He was so close that I could smell him and I wanted to jump him. He used a hand to lift my chin and he was smirking like he knew it.
He ran a finger across my cheek and I wanted to melt into a puddle. "All this? It's yours. You can look. You can touch. You can do whatever you want to do to it. Whenever. Wherever. However."
I was sure my face was redder than the inside of a watermelon. "You look so good red, Olivia." His eyes were dark and I shivered. "Julian! Get your dick out of your head and come join us." I looked over to the field to see Holden smirking.
Julian rolled his eyes, letting go of my chin. "I will talk to you later, okay?" I nodded, going to sit down on the chairs. I wanted to watch him in action.
It was clear that Julian and his wolf had become one, because he moved almost fluidly. He wasn't sweating, but a thin sheen covered his body. It made me want to dip him in chocolate and lick him all over.
I slapped my cheeks, focusing on watching him fighting. He single handedly defeated all the warriors he had faced off and was now giving them tips. I let a small smile of pride lift my lips.
I was about to get up when I saw him start jogging towards me. He gave me a grin. "I am done for today, so you want to go grab a bite to eat? We can eat it together in my office." I nodded, letting him take my hand.
He pulled me towards the castle and suddenly bent down. I didn't know his intent till he dipped his hand under my legs and picked me up effortlessly. I laughed, wrapping my arms around his neck.
He started running, and I felt wind whip through my hair. I was laughing and crying all at once. Julian didn't drop me till we reached his office. He bent down to grab a phone off the floor. "I am going to call Gretel to bring up something for us to snack on."
I nodded, remembering the bubbly woman. "I like her." Julian laughed. "It's hard not to." I moved across his office to pick up the sword that was on his wall, lifting it around in my hands. The way it felt was comfortable.
"That was my dad's." I almost dropped it, but Julian gave me a reassuring smile. "It's one of the good memories I have of him, so it's fine. Plus, you look really hot holding it."
I smiled at him, dropping it back. "I am glad." Julian came closer, wrapping a hand around my waist. "Can I kiss you? I have been wanting to do so since you showed up on the field."
I nodded, spinning around in his arms to face him. He gave me a smile that had my knees weak. I leaned into him, letting him take my lips. He let out a deep groan, his hands sliding up to cup my head.
I wrapped my hands around his neck, and his second hand was moving to my waist. I don't know who made the first move, but his tongue was suddenly in my mouth and I wanted more. I moaned into his mouth, tugging on his hair.
"Julian." "I know, baby." He pushed me against the wall and I wrapped my legs around his waist. His lips left mine to make a path on my neck and I tipped my head back.
I was sure I would have let him fuck me there and then when the door suddenly opened and Julian moved so fast. I was behind him and he cursed and looked over his shoulder to see a smirking Holden. "Sorry to interrupt."
I was glad he did. I let out a deep breath. Julian made me feel too much. I didn't know if that was a good thing or bad thing. And considering my past, it was probably the second.
