"Meeting of the highest rank"
"We hadn't spotted the rogue who assaulted the princess, Alpha. They were too clever, and they hid everything that may lead us to them."
The alpha couldn't keep his rage hidden. The member group of the food hunter came to him just a few minutes ago, telling him that they haven't seen enough animals add to their stock.
Food would not have been an issue for another year if their farm hadn't been buried by a massive landslide, but over the last three years, a lot of holes from above have progressively eroded. From above, a meter-sized hole became larger and larger. The alpha was occasionally concerned that the realm will be the next to be buried in that soil from the above. He has to figure out what's going on and why the hole is slowly sinking.
His most recent concern, however, was maybe a group of thieves who were attacking his daughter and who had figured out Serena's identity by now.
*********
Killian"
I give the man a cold stare before following Serena. My whole body was shivering with rage for that man, and as I looked at Serena a few meters away from me as she walked inside her room, I noticed she had thrown the flower in the trash bin.
I grin, but I feel bad for the flower and the man who gave it to me. I turned around to see where the Epsilon was, but he was still standing where I left him, chatting to someone.
I was going to return my attention to Serena when I became aware that someone was observing me? I cast my gaze about the room, but everything appears to be in order.
There was no one unusual, so I continued walking to my position, where I could keep an eye on Serena without bothering any of the other students.
I take a position outside the door of Serena's room. I'm hiding behind the massive tree, while Adriana stands on the opposite side, staring at me. Even though I was concentrating on the brat princess, I could sense it. Adriana remained like this for a while, so I turned on her.
"Serena was the reason why you're here, not me."
Adriana murmured, rolling her eyes.
"Yes, I'm aware, but I can't help myself. My brother was correct; you do not meet your soul match. What if she didn't live in this house? What would you do if she belonged to the other clan?"
I take a deep breath... I don't want to talk about my personal life, especially with my companion, whom I had never met before. If she weren't here, though, I might jump into a different lady who I like until I found the one that I adore.
"If we were meant to meet, we finally did. Don't even consider it; it isn't your concern." That's exactly what I stated. Then I came to a complete stop when I had the peculiar sensation that someone was observing me.
"Killian, did you feel that?"
Zeon, my wolf, inquired. If he thought so, I'm sure someone was keeping an eye on me.
Adriana was talking to some kids when I looked at her.
With a shake of my head, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the situation. For me, she wasn't the right partner. If Serena's thinking twisted again and she thought about something unimaginable while I was away, the Alpha would undoubtedly kill us by omitting his daughter.
So, even though I was eager to find the unusual individual who was surreptitiously watching, I couldn't. I couldn't leave Adriana with the princess.
For the time being, all I needed to do was concentrate and prepare for the sudden onslaught or whatever this hidden creature was planning.
***
Serena was eating and conversing with her girl classmate during lunch break, and everything seemed fine. That kid was Eta's daughter, and I recognized her. Serena couldn't be friends with that girl since she was a scumbag.
I couldn't hear what they were saying because I was too far away, but I was focused on the invisible stranger who could possibly be the enemy who had been waiting for the right moment to strike.
"Adriana steps closer to Serena, make sure that you're doing your job, or else I will tell Luna to replace you."
Adriana simply stares, but she stomps her feet as she walks towards Serena.
Adriana had a crush on me, and she had repeatedly rejected her mate because she didn't want to marry yet. Maybe she's hoping I'll like her as well. I shook my head, loving someone was the last thing on my mind because my father had so much faith in me.
Serena's smile was so lovely while talking to the girl, it was almost as if she was lighting up the entire place with her smile.
But I should know better, that her smile indicates that something is wrong. However, if she is in need, I will gladly assist her.
"Yeah right" says the speaker.
Zeon made a snide remark.
"What are you trying to say with your words?" I inquired, my head cocked.
"Nothing, I just wanna say that I can feel what you feel, and I know what was the true answer of all the things that Serena was involved in."
"Shut up," I almost say aloud to Zeon, who simply chuckles."
But I came to a halt when Adriana rushed forward, claiming Serena was missing.
"Fuck where could be that brat again?" I hadn't looked at her for only a few seconds. She was able to vanish in that split second.
I didn't say anything and bolted. I immediately used my acute senses to locate Serena.
I can't let her out of my sight for too long, or she'll be in danger again, dammit! I was worried and annoyed, and I couldn't decide whether to chastise her or hug her in relief once I located her. I don't know who I am anymore; I despise her but care about her far too much.
You brat, where the heck are you?
All I wanted to do was go around and look for Serena. That's what I did for a few seconds until I noticed a group of teenage girls in the back of the next building, and I exhaled a sigh of relief when I noticed Serena in the middle. I was going to flee when I noticed someone not far away firing a crossbow at Serena.
This is a joke!
There's no way I could reach the person who aimed a fucking weapon at my princess unless I ran straight to Serena!
What exactly am I saying?
I wanted to respond to my inquiry, but I couldn't figure out what to do.
I hugged Serena the last time I saw her, and then I felt a sting in my back.
The last thing I saw was Serena's face. Her lovely face was taken aback, and ours was too close. So much so that I can feel her warm breath.
