79 Giant monkey

Adriana

It’s been two days since we stepped into this so-called prison of the monster that the witches made. But I guess we still haven’t made half of the portal that we have to reach.

But at least we didn’t have to hurry for the place to break down.

I close my eyes and remember the things that I’ve been through. And all the things that I left behind.

Time flies like that. I just remember when I was a child.

I stare at my hands, which always have black leather gloves that my dad gave me. Because he didn’t want me to get hurt while holding my double-bladed sword and adding to my already scarred hands. He said that I couldn’t remove these since I accidentally burned myself when I was a child building a fire in the woods.

I never removed them since then, but now that my father is gone, they may have been eaten by those monsters since I haven’t seen him again after I left to come back for my brother.

However, at least I still have my brother, who was so busy helping Killie and Kyzer.

“Hey, I’ve heard that you were a princess. I’m Erich, a princess from the snake clan, and I was Exodus’s mate. He said he came from the first level underground, and he said you were the replacement princess.”

That was my dream ever since. That’s why I hated the brat princess Serena, but later I realized that being a princess needs to be responsible enough. But at least I experienced being one just for a while.

“I hope that Exodus says that was just for a while because we have already seen that the real princess was alive and beside my father, the beta was gone now.” I said.

“You mean Serena? Is that the beautiful girl that my family saved in the falls?”

I look at Erich. If I haven’t misheard her when she says her name, so they were the ones who saved Serena. That’s why she hasn’t been seen somewhere in our place because she misled us on the second level underground.

“She was the appropriate one, and the only heir to the throne of her father,” I said while looking at my hands.

“Why couldn’t you just remove those gloves of yours while we were still resting? I guess we’re safe now since it’s been a day and no monster has come to us.”

I shook my head. I couldn’t take these off my hands, it was so disgusting. Even Emmy herself doesn’t want to see it.

I said, “Why?” But I just shrugged it off.

“If you keep on covering that, then you won’t meet your mate for the rest of your life.”

I stopped for a moment.

“Why isn’t it enough that he could see me so he could recognize me?”

I asked Erich because, as I know, we could meet our mate just by seeing them.

“Yes, he could, but there are times when you didn’t grow up together, and each of you has a stubborn mind. Then there’s a possibility that you won’t recognize each other. Like what happened to my mom and dad. But that was just based on their experience. I didn’t say that you could experience that.”

I sighed. I want to ask if she knew that I hadn’t met my mate yet. I remember Exodus. So I just nodded and stood up. Maybe I’ll look for food as well.

Kyzer

Then, “We couldn’t just go far away from the people of Clode,” I said to my friend. And the longer I knew him, the more I believed he was my dead friend for real.

“Why? We have to look for our food, Kyzer. Besides, Killian and some of the soldiers were there. Just a few of us have been here searching for food.”

Close was sometimes stubborn, like me. Maybe that’s the reason why we were friends.

“There, I saw some animals there,” I said, then ran towards it.

However, as I reached the said animal, I saw that another one had caught it first.

It’s a huge monster that looks like a monkey.

“Why are you not moving?” To my surprise, the monster that I was planning to just cut using my lighting sword had seen me. To my surprise, the monster’s hands could stretch longer.

“Fuck!”

I immediately leaped to avoid the attack. But to my surprise, there were more of them, like they were hiding where I landed.

I stepped backward, like I could hear some of the soldiers with me shouting that there was a fucking monster again.

I rolled my eyes because they were just giving those monsters a heads-up of where we were now.

“The hell, so stupid. Why do they have to fucking shout?”

I said. “Perhaps he was just sacrificing himself to save those who didn’t realize there was a monster hiding somewhere so we could be aware of it.” Clode said that I didn’t understand because if that were me, I would save myself first, of course.

“I hope that our group has been notified already.”

Clode said, but I was just getting ready for another encounter with the creature. I wasn’t sure if I could still call them monkeys because they were more than 100% monster.

“Waaaaa!” I quickly turned my head as I heard the familiar voice of the girl not far away.

I cursed a hundred times when I saw the pretty lady that I heard was supposed to be a princess since the first royal family suddenly disappeared.

But when they spotted that the real princess was alive, which is my brother's mate, that we’ve been tracking down since this princess was together with the hybrid.

“Kyzer, don’t fucking just stand there, help your fake wife.”

Clode said. That thing was another story to tell. Every time that we have time, Clode always tells me everything that I should have known. Despite the fact that I was not asking, he appeared to have a thousand-word-per-minute mouth.

I looked at the girl while her hands were being held by the giant creature upward. She couldn’t

Killian

We were alarmed because of that shout from one of the soldiers that there was a fucking monster again.

I smirk. I guess I have gotten used to it for almost two days of walking, running, and fighting to get to those creatures that I haven’t named since I didn’t know what to call them.

The Alepores name them, but I don’t have time to remember everything, so let’s leave it at that.

My brother and some of the soldiers insisted on searching for food since all of us had been running for almost three days straight. There was a child with us, women and older people that needed time to rest, and a lot of us were wounded due to the battle that we have been through just to get here.

Maybe that was one of my intentions when I stepped into the falls, as others had suggested. But my uncle Colton, who is the father that he said I grew up with, said that coming out of this place was the second part of my plan since searching for my mate, Serena, the princess that I had been taking care of since I was young, was now in the hands of the person. That was the reason why all of us and the rest of our ancestors decided to live underground due to our blood relation to that woman. I don’t know why and how Serena, my mate and the princess of our palace, was together with the hybrid, but that reason might just be two.

Either Serena was forced or she really wanted to.

“Get ready for another battle, Killian.” Uncle Colton said.

“How about Kyzer?” I asked.

“Don’t worry about him. Like you, Kyzer was independent, though you both didn’t remember anything.”

I sighed. I guess Kyzer was alright. We were twins, and if there was something happening to him, I would feel it right away.

I jumped into a tree to see where those monsters were and what the exact location of those monsters was.

My eyes widened when I realized that a lot of them were just lurking not far away, looking for us, maybe since we were small to find.

All of us, including those kids, had a weapon in our hands while the Alepores were shielding them. Because of the power they have, they could shield them for a while if needed.

Despite the fact that they stated that if they used their power in this manner, they would be weaker for how many hours? But if needed only, I guess we would need that since those monsters were not just ordinary. Maybe that’s why no other monster was lingering here and to the wide perimeter because there was no other monster before we arrived, and now I know why.

We step backward when we hear the roaring sounds of those monsters that filled the place. I’m sure that whatever hears this will surely run in fear. But not me...

I was born a fighter. I could feel that in my inner self.

The monster was sniffing the place. Maybe they already noticed that there was food not far away.

I curse because there is no chance that I will be their fucking food.

I jumped to welcome one of the monsters that was coming to our spot.

I slashed it as hard as I could to the head so one of them would see me. I was just like the wind that passed through them.

The monster had just fallen to the ground, and the others went wild because of that and were trying to find me.

I show myself so they focus on me and they will come any closer to the place where my subject was. I jump as far away from them as possible.
